Rooms are spacious and comfortable. But there was a very heavy smoke smell from the fireplace, the rooms should be aired better in between guests. PLEASE NOTE: Booking offers two room types for ocean view rooms. One of them has a picture of a patio and the other a balcony. We chose the one with balcony thinking it would be upper floor. But the hotel doesn’t have that distinction. So don’t forget to make a note if you want a specific floor.

We loved the location, the view from our balcony. Lovely sunset viewing from balcony or seats around the property. The beach was nice for beach combing and relaxing. The room had everything we needed and was clean. There were nice robes and fresh clean linens. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

We had almost no functioning WiFi while we were in our room and the TV reception was poor from our room. We were told that the WiFi issue is unusual but it persisted for the two days we were there. Because of WiFi issue we couldn’t order room service first night, which we really wanted to do (could not open QR code). Hard copy of menu might have helped.

The room was spacious, clean, and had a beautiful view of the ocean. There was a large balcony with chairs and a table for a comfy place to enjoy the view as well. The bathroom was also very large and well-appointed with nice toiletries. The staff were very attentive and friendly. On the grounds were 3 or 4 fire pits that were lit at sunset and guests gathered to enjoy a warm place to enjoy the view and meet new friends. It was really fun. The weather was a bit blustery and chilly, but we came North from the heat of L.A., so it was a welcome change, Remember to pack lots of warm clothes, even in the height of summer!

It was really nice. I would only recommend an update to the restaurant, but It wasn't a "dislike" just, I think some people would complain due to cost vs other restaurants.

I love staying at the Cavalier, it has been my go to place the past several years for my birthday weekend. The rooms are clean and views are spectacular.

Be careful when booking rooms, the room types can be confusing as they have several different building and different views from different rooms. I booked the exact same room type I had last year, but had a "obstructed" view of the ocean. Some of the chairs are not super comfortable for lounging and/or sitting a the table.

Great rooms , we stay here all the time ! The attached restaurant is great and not too expensive. Staff is great .

We stayed two nights , the first night was great , the hotel was very empty and there was only a handful of people staying here . On the second night , they decided to put some Very loud people right next to our room , even when the rest of the hotel was empty. They were slamming doors and talking extremely loud Into the late hours, then started again super early in the morning. I understand that it is not the hotels fault that these people were so loud and had no regard for anyone else but what I don't understand why you would put someone right next to someone else when you have so many empty rooms. Even one room over would of helped, but no .. right next to us . There was a very small amount of people staying during this time and so many rooms open . Second night was a bust

We had an ocean view king size bed. Excellent balcony. Fireplace was so much fun and they provided the wood and fire starter thing (not fluid). Restaurant was pretty good too. Perfect for breakfast.

The adjoining room doors aren't designed to block noise. 2nd night, guest checked in at 12:30am with a loud kid and barking dog. 2:45am before they went quiet with tv off. Called desk 2x and they came to talk to guests. Didn't help. They were up at 7:45am just as loud. We requested a new room or refund of 3rd night. New room was granted.

The location was everything! The amenities were great and we had warm enough weather to enjoy both the pool and the outdoor jacuzzi. The fluffy robes were perfect for enjoying the chilly mornings and enjoying the view.

Minor for other people but we would've liked a microwave in our room. We did enjoy the local restaurants but one day we did have leftovers that we brought home instead. Also, we might be a bit old fashioned, but we're not used to the Keurig-type coffees and didn't come prepared with our own. But that was minor compared to everything else that was great! Will recommend.

The room view was outstanding, we had the King oceanfront room with a fireplace. The balcony had the unobstructed view which was the reason why we reserved the room. Easy access to the beach. The location of the hotel was about 4 1/2 miles from downtown Cambria and few miles from nearby walking trails. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We had breakfast at the on-site restaurant. The food was good and staff was friendly.

The room is quite outdated, but it was kept very clean. The in-room mini fridge was also nice to have.

The Cavalier was the perfect location for us to spend a few days away from the fires down in Southern California. It was peaceful, beautiful and the scenery was priceless. We saw a pod of dolphins while drinking our morning coffee and were able to walk the beach every morning. The fire places at night were the perfect spot for our family to enjoy s'mores and a glass of wine and talk about our highlights of the day.

Gorgeous property, everything was so green and lush in mid-April. The in-room fireplace was fantastic, especially since we got hit with a couple of rainy days. The mochas at the restaurant were delicious. The view from our room was incredible.

My only complaint- the tv quality was poor, all channels were pretty fuzzy. Now obviously we weren’t there to watch tv, and I would have been content to keep it off the entire time- but we did get hit with a couple of rainy days and with two small children, it can be difficult to keep them entertained (and trust me, we have about every activity you can think of) and sometimes the tv helps with a little downtime.
