The room was spacious and clean, with a small kitchen area including a microwave and fridge. Good cold and hot breakfast provided, with tea and coffee available all day. A great place to stay if you are visiting Hearst Castle. We walked and ate at the close by Big Sur Restaurant which provided good food at a good price. Supermarket (Cookie Crock Market) is a 10 minute drive to Cambria and provided a good range of produce. Overall, a good value place to stay on our southerly drive down the coast. Staff were extremely helpful in returning items that we had left behind.

We were on a road trip stopping at different hotels each night, and this was the cheapest but one of the best for value for money. A variety of coffee, teas, and snacks at reception and a great breakfast included. The room was large and clean. There was a separate restaurant and the food was really good. I chose this hotel for its close proximity to Hearst Castle. We would definitely return!

There was no water coming out of the shower. We did report it in the morning but had to leave before they had time to fix it. They were very apologetic, though.

My husband and I stayed at the Quality Inn in San Simeon (near Hearst Castle) along with our labrador retriever from April 29, 2024 through May 2, 2024. Our experience was exceptional from check-in to check-out. Morning breakfast selections included bacon, eggs, hot biscuits, make-your-own waffles, an assortment of teas, yogurt, orange juice, cereals, muffins, pastries and more. The refrigerator in our room was large enough to store our perishables and included a small freezer, which was the perfect size for refreezing our blue ice. It was a plus for my husband to have an outdoor hot tub available after an active day along with the extra towels that were provided poolside. I was especially thrilled that in addition to being pet-friendly, there were no additional pet fees for having our dog with us. Oh, and let's not forget the friendly touches that were available in the lobby such as fresh-baked cookies each day as well as easily accessible hot coffee and hot water for assorted teas, hot chocolate and instant breakfast cereal. We would stay here again with or without our dog in a heartbeat!

Of course, there is room for a couple of room improvements. Upgrading the room heater (which was old, manually-operated and beyond outdated) to a new, digitally-controlled thermostat would be a huge benefit. Although relatively minor, providing a larger capacity hot water/coffee maker in the room would be beneficial as well.

We stayed at Quality Inn for one night and had a fantastic experience. Edward at the reception was incredibly welcoming and made my family feel right at home. He even upgraded our room, which was a lovely surprise. The environment was spotless, and the breakfast exceeded our expectations—delicious and satisfying. My sons especially enjoyed their stay, making it even more memorable for our family. A helpful tip for future guests: don't miss the Elephant Seal Vista Point, which is just a 7-minute drive from the hotel. It's a unique and amazing experience worth checking out! If we visit San Simeon again, we will definitely choose Quality Inn. Thank you for such a great stay!

The room was nice with decent beds. There was soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. There was a hair dryer, ironing board and iron with laundry service available. Nice swimming pool. Easy free parking. Excellent breakfast was included and had waffles, cereal, fruit, eggs, bacon, milk, orange juice, yogurt, toast, etc. The restaurant was a great joy with really tasty properly prepared food for a very fair price. I had the sampler platter with Cod, Shrimp, Calamari, and huge scallops.

It is hard to pick this place apart. I could actually list more things that I liked such as the beautiful courtyard.

I really liked the location. The price was excellent. The free breakfast was excellent too. Unfortunately we were only at the hotel from 9:00pm-9:00am so we did not walk around the neighborhood. I loved the fact that they have 24 hour coffee and hot tea/chocolate by the reception area. What a treat to get a full snickers bar when we checked out!! I also love the closeness that it has to the Hearst Castle. It was only 5 minutes away!! Overall great place to stay!!

The only thing I would complain about was that our room had a slight musty odor when we walked in but it wasn't that bad.

I loved the fact that it is a family that runs this business. The receptionist made sure to remember our name, and greeted us by name next morning at the breakfast, it was his relatives running the kitchen, serving the breakfast and cleaning up. And they really worked hard making sure that every guest is comfortable, has a place to sit - since it got busy at one point - they were constantly refilling the food, and made sure everything was super clean. The breakfast offered nice hot food besides the typical yogurts, bagels, toasts and cereal. It was a lot more than I expected for the price, and the personal approach totally made a difference.

We could hear water running in the room next to us - whenever our neighbors were using shower, toilet or sink. But it was a very minor issue for us.

We were greeted by Ed when we arrived and he made our check in easy and pleasant. the cookies offered at check in with coffee and hot tea hit the spot. our rooms were comfortable and the hot breakfast was a great selection. We also enjoyed we had a few spots availble to enjoy playing board games and having breakfast. we enjoyed the firepit area very much. Thank you for making our family stay so enjoyable.

the restroom needs a hook for the toiletery bag. and the restroom in the main entrance needs a hook for a purse. that is all i would suggest.

The gentleman who checked us in was SO nice! I asked his name and then didn't write it down, and I feel awful! He was maybe in his 40s? Really kind, and when we showed up 5 mins before the pool closed with 3 kids, 2 of them eager to get in the water, he kept it open an extra hour for us. He answered all my sill questions, made sure I had hot water for tea, and was hands on with helping with our bags, etc. It was a Godsend after a long day of driving!

Nothing, really, because it was a stopover for us. However, if you are staying in the area for a while, it's not really the type of place you can walk around a neighborhood. You could definitely get to some nice spots in a short distance. It's just not a "beautiful grounds" type of place.

Early check-in was readily accommodated. Our room was clean with a little "sitting room" (frig, microwave, couch), two queen beds and large TV screen. Manager fixed a brief issue with TV remote. I loved the shower with regular shower head and lower one (almost felt like a bidet!) Full b'fasts each day were just right. Fresh-baked cookies every day too! Heated pool and fire pit nice. Quite close to elephant seal viewing and Hearst Park (can walk on beach) and Hearst Castle.

One bed 'sunk' a bit on one side. Pool heated but still really cold due to chilly winds.
