This is a lovely property just across a two lane road (Highway 1) from the beach. The rooms are well-situated to face the ocean or the pool. Accommodations provide everything you may need during your stay and the pool was very inviting. Staff is friendly and the restaurant has a good menu. Beds are comfortable and in the courtyard rooms, either upstairs or downstairs, you have private patios. We come here often and prefer San Simeon Lodge over the more expensive Moonstone Beach inns.

The rooms could use some updating, but the location makes up for this deficit

- Queen suites are renovated with fresh paint, new carpet, and clean furniture. Our room was on the 1st floor and had a fantastic view of the ocean. Take in mind though that these rooms DO face the parking lot, so you’ll get cars obstructing the view sometimes. This wasn’t a problem for us since we were out most of the day and only at the hotel early morning and evening. It was actually convenient to park our car so close to our room. - Bathrooms are clean and spacious. Although our water faucet was mislabeled (cold water was actually hot and vice versa), what mattered most was that there was no mold or mildew in the shower stall, which I’m a huge stickler about. The bathroom could use a heater, but if you heat up the main room the heat will seep through the door, so it’s ok - Comfortable! Beds were not too firm or soft, but “just right”, as Goldliocks would say - Pet friendly! Our dog enjoyed the ocean view as much as we did. - Friendly, welcoming, and accommodating staff who answered our smallest requests – they brought us hot water for tea, gave us extra keys, and even upgraded us to a larger room for a lower price.

- King rooms are outdated, old, and smelly. We were originally put in a king room, but had to switch since the fire alarm had dead batteries. Good thing we did! Unfortunately, the rooms are not as nice as the one’s with queen beds. - Everything was tranquil and quiet until two loud women moved in next door on our second day. They were causing a nuisance after "quiet hours", so we asked the hotel manager for help. He was able to settle them down for an hour or so, but then they star

The location is excellent, there is an access to the huge beach just across the beach and the whole town is just so calm and peaceful 😍 We got a family room with two king size beds and they were very comfortable with plenty of pillows 😍 and a cozy duvet:) the room was spacious and clean, there was a table with two chairs, coffee maker and plenty of coffee 😍 there was a mini fridge too which was very convenient :) the bathroom was very basic and a bit out of date, more light would be welcome. there is a supermarket beside the lodge with the basic goods👍🏻 and there is washing machine to do some laundry. Ery friendly staff at the front desk. If you arrive after 22:00 the office is closed and they leave you the key in the box at the office door.

Nothing.All was great !

Good location if in town for Hearst Castle or doing the coastal highway drive. Quick walk across the road to the beach, although you do have to walk across a very high-speed road. We were provided with discount vouchers to eat at the adjoining restaurant which was good. Was very handy to have washing and drying machines available

The room could have been a little cleaner. Bedding and pillows a little dated and lumpy

For anyone going to hurst Castle, wanting a clean room a comfortable bed. All the necessary amenities, including the quality restaurant and heated pool. This is it. Now you can go across the street for a minimum of $100 a night more and I do that now and then. But feel safe and comfortable with ocean views.

She’s getting older and he has a few little scuffs. All very minor.

Across the street from the beach, restaurant & bar on site as well as a liquor/ convenient store & Cambria right down the road. The room was clean & the beds were comfy. They've done a lot of updates & it looks very nice. I've been coming here for years & will continue to.

The bathroom needs to be updated & they definitely need to get rid of the old school little coffee pots they have now & go to keurigs. Also a different coffee. I usually bring my own knowing this but didn't this time as it was only for 1 night this time. But will the next time. That would be my only real complaint.

The location is great and the bed is super comfortable. Dinner at the restaurant was also delicious. All in all was a decent place to stay.

None of the rooms have air conditioning. There is a desk fan provided but thankfully it was winter when I stayed because otherwise I wouldn’t have slept. Shower curtain could do with being replaced. It had a hole in it. Shower pressure was a bit lacklustre too.

All staff were very helpful, particularly front desk manager. He arranged for us to have a breakfast "deal" at the restaurant on-site, which was very convenient. He also had answers to all our questions about local places we'd planned on visiting...The hotel location is perfect and the parking was great. The beds were really nice and comfy and the linens seemed very fresh.

Rooms are dated, so there is staining in the sink, for example, and carpet stains. The bathroom was very clean but the main room carpet seemed a bit dirty, like only the main part was thoroughly vacuumed.

Loved the location, and the restaurant that’s on the property is what really made this trip phenomenal. The drinks were amazing and the food was delicious. I would definitely stay here again.

The one con is the lack of air conditioning. We stayed on a warm weekend, and our room was in the sun all day, and it was HOT in there. The thermostat didn’t work and there was warm air coming out of the furnace 24/7 regardless is the thermostat was on or off. At night it cooled down a lot, so that was nice, but it was very warm during the day.

Loved the location, beach is literally across the street from the beach. Definitely kids friendly, my two little ones enjoyed it. Quiet time is at 10pm and it is very quiet and peaceful, you will only hearing the waves crash which is so relaxing. Staff were awesome, very welcoming and friendly, also informative. The room was very clean and cozy. This was our 2nd time back and we just had the best time like the first time we stayed. Just an overall a clean, relaxing and a family friendly place to stay and reasonable price. Highly recommended. Will be back.

No complaints really. Just wish they had a microwave in the room to be able to heat up food for the kids. But we still survived and enjoyed our stay.
