The hotel room was clean and spacious. Continental breakfast had several options (banana, apple, sandwich bread, peanut butter and jelly, bagels, cream cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurt cup, waffles, syrup, 3 cereal choices, milk, juice and tea, and coffee, cocoa, and hot tea.). You can walk down to the beach through a little access point close by (definitely an off-road experience - be careful). A coastal hiking trail heads south along the coast about 1/4 mile down the road adjacent to the hotel. Excellent location to access (via car) other area coastal hiking trails, public beaches, elephant seals, and Piedras Blanca’s lighthouse!

The location is great, very close to everything, which made it so convenient... The staff were awesome, friendly, and very informative... The hotel is very clean, although they do allow pets. You couldn't tell unless you have allergies, so be aware because my husband had bad allergies all weekend during our stay. The continental breakfast is just that, nothing special, but fresh and hot every morning and very clean... it was cold while in San Simeon but very fresh air, and the heater in the room warned it up quickly... We would stay here again... Oh, and there's plenty of parking...

There is nothing bad about the hotel, but, I'm 65 and the people above us had no consideration for anyone, they were up at all hours of the night, it literally sounded like there were a couple of heavy animals running around the room throughout the night, it was had getting sleep... I wish people would have a little more consideration for others. They aren't at home. They are sharing a hotel with lots of other people...

I stayed in the large king room which had a fireplace and a comfortable couch next to a big window with a great view - really enjoyed these amenities.The room was spacious and clean. The ocean view rooms were on the other side - I saw in one and it looked really nice. It’s possible to walk down to an impressive pebble beach beneath small cliffs a short distance behind the hotel.

The bed could have been more comfortable but was ok. Breakfast was mostly carbs and sugar - would have been much happier with healthier options.

The Morgan never disappoints. I’ve stayed here on numerous occasions and every time I’ve been very pleased wither their services and facilities. I had a lovely 1 night stay here this weekend. We had a beautiful room on the top story. It was clean, spacious and had a gorgeous view of the rolling hillsides. The room is fully equipped with everything you need … coffee machine, mini fridge … the usual. The front desk receptionist is extremely kind and accommodating. I paged him several times asking for cups, help with programming the TV etc. and he was so kind to come over to my room to resupply me with what was missing.

Some minor flaws are that the TV is difficult to navigate and that the building we stayed at (separate from the main hotel) doesn’t have hot water, a coffee machine, or paper cups. You have to walk all the way to the main building to get them.

They had coffee ready for us at 7. So we could get on our way to see the Elephant Seals nearby.

There was a very heavy walking person above. I had my dog with me and the dog would bark when the heavy walking continued all night. I woke up all nite all three nights. I love this place and thought after one nite they would leave, but no they were there all the nights I was there. My fault I am sure they would have moved me if I said something. I love this place. Sometimes people can be jerks.

Check in was easy and fast and the gentleman at reception was informative. The breakfast was good and was more than I expected with many choices. Our room was large and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean and attractive. We really enjoyed the coziness of the fireplace. We enjoyed the pool area though it is a bit on the small side. It hotel is a bit dated, but it was nice to come back to after our days' adventures.

Downstairs room was good and we still had a semi view of ocean.

After first night I had called office that we wanted housekeeping. When he came back late afternoon it hadn't been cleaned. I called again to at least get fresh towels. Housekeeping arrived with towels and apologized. Said they never got word that we had requested service. They dumped my garbage can while there which was nice.

We stop here on our way to San Francisco from LA, not expecting much. We had such a great experience that we are looking to comeback just to stay there. When we got there the power had gone out for the entire block and the person in charged was a bit overwhelmed but friendly, they gave us glow sticks until the power came back on around 2 am. The room was nice and very spacious for 4, the bed and the lines were very comfortable, however what stood out the most was the cleanliness, they cleaning lady did a 10 out of 10 job. The breakfast was also better than usual, they have a waffle station plus all the other basics, but they kept on replacing anything that would run out and it always felt like they had plenty. The pool appears to be heated but we didn't get a chance to try it due to the power outage situation but overall this place exceeded our expectations and location is great. If you are debating if you should book this place, you will be glad you did.

Not really their fault they could have done a little better. We asked if they would consider a discount in booking another night since power was out for most of the time we were there. They said No without any consideration or apology. Again I don't blame them for power being out, but a simple apology or a different delivery in their response would have gone a long way and we would probably had booked another night on the spot.

Both check in/out staff were very nice. I mistakenly booked a standard king room thinking all along I booked a partial ocean view. I gracefully accepted my mistake and gentleman @ front desk found & offered a room with a beautiful view. How cool was that?! Room was very clean. We had the windows (3) open for fresh air and ambience all day/night. Good to hear they're hosting a continental breakfast again. Boiled eggs, DIY fresh waffles, oatmeal, variety of bread(s)/muffins, cereal, condiments, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee and juice.

Would've enjoyed another overnight stay...

Comfortable hotel and decent simple breakfast. Beds are a little soft and drapes and entrance sofas could be updated. But otherwise the hotel is good and spacious. Close to Cambria and Hearst Castle. Our TV did not work and the staff tried to get it to function several times. Checkin was efficient.

Bed mattresses could be updated. Updated carpet and sofas would be nicer.
