Located in walking distance of hauntingly lovely beach. The accommodations were outstanding--comfortable, clean, well appointed. We loved the communal leisure room with pool, hot tub, games, and tables for fun activities and also the beautiful pants growing from the ground indoors! The person who checked us in was warm and friendly and made us feel so welcome! This place has an old-school charm that I treasure. I also really liked that our room didn't smell like cleaning chemicals. It was just nice and clean. We will return!

The only thing not to like was that the people in the room adjacent to ours were loud in an inconsiderate way both late at night and very early in the morning.

Owner's are at reception and were super friendly and polite. You get nice welcoming treats at check in. Rooms are very nice with a vintage theme, very clean. Coffee and water in room. Bed was super comfortable, had good nites sleep. Super clean sheets and towels. Continental breakfast was nice. Good coffee there. Indoor pool is a nice touch to the place. There's a nice restaurant next door and a few others few minutes away. Small stores as well for drinks and snacks walking distance. Over all it was a great stay for our 2 day stay. Will be back in August and stay there, have a wedding to attend in Atascadero but is worth the 35 mnts drive to San Simeon where hotel is.

There was nothing I didn't like. I love the whole stay, from the staff to the facility is was a great stay.

I love staying here, very family friendly with board games, a pool with a large shallow area for small kids to walk around, a hot tub, and an included free breakfast. During our stay breakfast included really good coffee, pastries, croissants, pop tarts (4 different flavors), toast with two different jams that seemed locally sourced, apples and bananas. I might be forgetting an item or two but that is the main spread. This hotel is very close to the elephant seal area and Hearst castle. The beaches are unpopulated compared to morro bay and pismo, I prefer this which is why I’ve been visiting this area for many years. There are excellent dining options in Cambria just check google reviews but for delicious pizza and burgers we always go back to JJs in Cambria. I can’t comment on the food near the hotel because I have my favorites in Cambria, it’s less than 10 min drive but there is a restaurant next door and across the street if you prefer to eat within walking distance. Regarding the staff, a friendly and knowledgeable family owns this hotel. If you have questions about the area don’t hesitate to ask them and definitely check the magazines on the tables, they have maps and general info regarding what is available to visit nearby. I look forward to coming back!

Can’t think of a single thing

The bed and pillows were to die for. Had one of the best night sleeps of my life + AC kicked butt! Double sinks for my boyfriend and I to each have was a major plus. The coffee bar in the morning had pastries which was a cute surprise and much needed to start our day! Above all else, the staff were so incredibly sweet and welcoming. We immediately felt comfortable, and the free cookies at check-in were delicious!

The only downside was the WiFi was slow, but if your goal is to unplug for a night and truly relax, it’s fine! Email loaded fine, we just had issues with Google searching nearby restaurants/places to go. Totally not a deal-breaker; the hotel provided a sheet with nearby restaurants that were both walkable and drivable.

You both went out of your way to make us feel welcome, and it truly made all the difference. For an inn, I thought this place was great. Location was really nice, about a short 4 minute drive to Hearst castle and the San Simeon pier. Our room was clean and cozy. Nice fridge and microwave. Hospitality was exceptional- everyone was kind and helpful- easy checking in and out, gave us free cookies and cute little toy cars. Free breakfast, nothing crazy, but enough to keep the family going and good coffee!

I wouldn't say I didn't like anything, I think they just need to put a little bit more love into the pool they have there (too much chlorine), but I appreciate what they are trying to do.

We were personally welcomed by the friendly owners. The manager Jo was also very friendly and helpful. We loved the indoor pool that is shielded from the cold wind and the big tables for having breakfast and playing games or building puzzles. Breakfast was a surprise as it is not advertised as being included. Excellent location near restaurants and visiting Hearst Castle.

The noisy fan that switched on automatically with the light every time you entered the bathroom. There’s no way to have a quiet, discreet visit to the toilet in the middle of the night!

Staff is kind the owner is amazing! Such a sweet woman who’s kindness and sincerity made the place feels so much more like being at a home away from home. They were very welcoming upon arrival and checkout was great . I loved the effort they made to make you feel comfortable, you can try they try and make it a personal experience for everyone. Room was VERY clean and i don’t know if they all do but mine had the microwave and fridge retro style! I love that it had a separate freezer from the fridge and a very good size. Loved the stay here, we stayed somewhere else in Monterey that was nearly double the price and half the quality. If you’re in San Simeon or Cambria for the night this is a great stay!!!

We chose Coast Riders Inn as we wanted to stay close to the ocean and have some facilities around us. We arrived early and were lucky enough that our room was ready and we could check in early. The staff were very welcoming and gave us local knowledge of the coast and how far we could travel up highway 1. Room was basic but comfortable and had everything that we needed. There was a complimentary breakfast, pastries, toast and some fruit which was welcome. There are a couple of restaurants within a few mins walk, all reasonably priced. The beach is just over the road, though you do have to cross the highway to get to it, that wasn’t a problem. Close to Hearst Castle and also elephant seal viewing points and various other vista stop points.

Nothing bad to say.

An older style motel that has updated rooms. It means they are big with a comfy king bed. And it's back from the highway so there's no traffic noise. It has a quirky motorcycle and motor racing vibe, with amazing Lego model cars and motorcycles on display, all built by the owner I believe. It's a pity that with Highway 1 closed that there weren't more people staying there. Don't expect room service etc. But it's great value. And there are plenty of places to eat nearby.

You don't stay at the beach to watch TV. But the cable channels were almost unwatchable. Lots of noise and static on the distorted picture. But there's an option to sign in to your Netflix etc account and it will automatically log you out when you leave.
