We chose Coast Riders Inn as we wanted to stay close to the ocean and have some facilities around us. We arrived early and were lucky enough that our room was ready and we could check in early. The staff were very welcoming and gave us local knowledge of the coast and how far we could travel up highway 1. Room was basic but comfortable and had everything that we needed. There was a complimentary breakfast, pastries, toast and some fruit which was welcome. There are a couple of restaurants within a few mins walk, all reasonably priced. The beach is just over the road, though you do have to cross the highway to get to it, that wasn’t a problem. Close to Hearst Castle and also elephant seal viewing points and various other vista stop points.

Nothing bad to say.

Staff is kind the owner is amazing! Such a sweet woman who’s kindness and sincerity made the place feels so much more like being at a home away from home. They were very welcoming upon arrival and checkout was great . I loved the effort they made to make you feel comfortable, you can try they try and make it a personal experience for everyone. Room was VERY clean and i don’t know if they all do but mine had the microwave and fridge retro style! I love that it had a separate freezer from the fridge and a very good size. Loved the stay here, we stayed somewhere else in Monterey that was nearly double the price and half the quality. If you’re in San Simeon or Cambria for the night this is a great stay!!!

An older style motel that has updated rooms. It means they are big with a comfy king bed. And it's back from the highway so there's no traffic noise. It has a quirky motorcycle and motor racing vibe, with amazing Lego model cars and motorcycles on display, all built by the owner I believe. It's a pity that with Highway 1 closed that there weren't more people staying there. Don't expect room service etc. But it's great value. And there are plenty of places to eat nearby.

You don't stay at the beach to watch TV. But the cable channels were almost unwatchable. Lots of noise and static on the distorted picture. But there's an option to sign in to your Netflix etc account and it will automatically log you out when you leave.

The perfect place to stop over on Highway 1/Big Sur road trip for a real American experience. Comfortable bed and spacious room. Lots of nice little touches such as water and cookies in room on arrival and coffee, juice, fruit and pastries in the morning. Love the retro theme and memorabilia. Friendly owner and staff. Exceptional service. We will be forever grateful to the owner and staff that helped us following our rental car breaking down as we were about to leave after checking out, the team at Coast Riders went above and beyond to help us, their sense of humour and support got us through and thanks to their assistance and kindness we were able to get everything sorted to enable us to continue our road trip around California ❤️

The location is convenient for both Hearst Castle and Cambria stays. Several restaurants are close by that you can walk to. Just a few miles up the road is Hearst Castle and the Sea Lions. The rooms also have air conditioning, a MUST when I travel. Too many hotels in the area do NOT have air conditioning. Great Continental breakfast with pastries, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, fruit.

The room needs a small dining table with a couple of chairs to snack at. There is plenty of space to include one.

When we checked in, the lights in the town were temporarily off, and we were reassured they would be on in a couple of hours. The staff was nonplussed and checked us in, headlamps on! We were each given a small package of homemade cookies and a toy car (Coast Riders), which I thought was very clever. Off to dinner, we went, and upon our return, as promised, the lights were on. We had been kindly upgraded to get an extra bed (minimal charge) and the room was beyond our expectations. Three queen-sized beds, a large bathroom, fresh towels, hot hot water, and a large flat-screen TV. We had a splendid stay. I would definitely stay there again.

The WiFi was a little spotty, but that could have been due to the recent power outage, and it wasn't a significant interruption.

Location was great for a stop mid way along our west coast road trip! It was a typical motel but felt very clean and safe. The gentleman on the check in desk was very helpful and gave us some information on where to find the elephant seals and also gave us some free cookies :-) Free parking right outside our room, in a lovely quiet location. Details in the room on where we could find food in the area which was helpful.

The bathroom was small but to be expected and the room felt quite old but I think this is what you expect from these types of motels. Nothing we didn't like and would stay again!

Our stay at Coast Riders Inn was fantastic. The staff were suuuper friendly and attentive with us. They gave us some cookies and two cars when we did the check-in; we really appreciate the gesture. The motel decoration was nice - it was inspired on the world of motor racing. The room was great, spacious and with everything you need (a small fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker...). It was also really clean and the bed was big and so comfortable. The motel also has a common area with board games and a heated pool. The breakfast was complete: beverages and pastries to start the day. We will definitely come back some day!

We were on the ground floor and we could hear the steps coming from the room which was upstairs. However, we really recommend this place. It was great!

Location was perfect we had tickets to twilight tour at Hearst Castle the staff was very helpful once we got registered the room was cute and clean beds were wonderful!!

I use a walker to get around the side door of office had a doorbell and a sign to ring it which I did twice No one came to the door after sitting on walker I tried again the young man signaled for me to come in With a little maneuvering I got in as the door swung out requiring me to back up down the ramp to open door with one hand and try to steer the walker There was no handicapped level counter to fill out my registration form By this time gratefully my son arrived and was able to get me in our room and move the cars to in front of our door which was wonderful

This was my 2nd time staying here. The staff are always nice and welcoming. I appreciate the complimentary cookies upon check in, they were delicious! The room size are a good size. Personally I think the beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean with the exception that I found 2 hairs, 1 on a bath towel & the other in the bathroom. Also, i have stayed at several other hotels in cambria, some in town others beach front, coast riders inn has definitely been the cleanest so I really appreciate that. Overall, I do recommend staying here. Great value for your money.
