Breakfast was decently nice. Only usual high carb options but they had Greek yoghurt and fruit and homemade bread at the table. In a nice residential neighborhood. The cove is just too small to be advertised as they do.

Everything too small. More like a motel with independent cottages. The room floor was dirty and sticky. The extra bedsheet was not changed and gross.

We stayed at the Beachcomber cottage (#6) which was very clean and spacious. It has an outside deck which is a perfect spot to enjoy the sun and for the little kids to run around and play. It is located very close to a little beach, which made it perfect for the kids enjoy the water/sand and comeback for snack and to go out again. The cottage had plenty of lighting through windows (which I really think is important) and the kitchen was also well equipped with all the basic gears that we needed. The breakfast was better than what we expected so that was a plus.

Heating system felt a little bit weak but turning it on in advance in the afternoon helped warming up the room in the evening and throughout the night.

The location was perfect. Walking distance to the beach. The property was beautiful. Unit 6 has its own patio which was very nice. The kitchen was a great size with all the amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The second bedroom was very small. The bathroom was pretty tight for 5 people. I also wish the bathroom was more private. It felt like you were in the middle of the bedroom with just a slider door to separate. I didn't like how there wasn't a way to communicate with the office unless you walk up to the office. The location is in a neighborhood and one of the neighbors had band practice til 2am and we couldn't sleep. It was very loud.

Front desk service was exceedingly helpful. The whole place was really clean and beautiful. The bed was one of the best beds I have slept in while traveling! The heater and fan worked really well on a really cold day. The skylight in the bathroom was awesome in the morning. The soaps were great - I took pictures of them to find for myself - and the location was fantastic.

There was no drinking water available except for the bathroom tap and the vending machine, which gave a water bottle that was not what was shown on the display, but that is very minor. More importantly, it felt like the yogurt that was served for the complimentary breakfast was left out for a couple days, and that is concerning.

The check in was super hospitable and thorough. I felt as if I was being taken care of as if I were family. The room was cozy, We had a room that overlooked the beach. Breakfast was the cutest nook with your essentials (fruit, coffee, pastries, yogurt, bagels) Our room was modern and spacious. Enough to play board games and relax. I kept the screen doors open to listen to the waves crashing at night. This inn exceeded our expectations and was cozy, comfortable and clean. Loved every moment there and would recommend to anyone who stays in the Santa Cruz area

The coffee pot could be bigger? I think it holds about 4-5 mugs worth. IT's more work on the staff to refill it, but even then, they were pretty timely on that too!

Pros: - The location is great, its literally 1 min away from the beach. Traveling with kids its very convenient to quickly bring them back into the room after the beach and rinse. - Fully equipped kitchen and BBQ. This time we rented a cottage with our own private "backyard", so we grilled all of our food. - The place is nice and quiet. Even though the hotel was fully booked for the weekend we were there and there were families in every cottage, the place has nice and relaxing atmosphere and very quiet (bonus with two little children who go to bed early).

Cons: - 4pm is VERY late for a check-in. But the time you settled its pretty much late evening and then that "day" at the resort is just a waste of money. - Cleaning in the rooms is very irregular. This was our second time staying in this lodge, and out of 8 days in total we spent there our room never got cleaned, even though we left the sign on the door daily between 9am and 1pm asking it to be cleaned. I think in general, the hotel is missing cleaning and maintenance crew. The doors, nobs, window latches, appliances (our dishwasher was probably from 1990 and sounded like a rocket at takeoff...). The rooms definitely can be upgraded. The rooms are clean-ish, but dusty and have old carpets. However, you really can not beat the location and having your own kitchen in the room.

Very easy girls getaway! The beach was a few steps down the hill, allowing us a “beach day” on the late afternoon we arrived! Both Capitola and Santa Cruz are so close we never had to choose. We were pleasantly overwhelmed with choices of places to eat, have a brew, and lounge on other beaches in both places same day. Location is perfect to get out of the valley heat for 48 hrs. Will be back! (Perfect place to bring the kids next time too!)

This was our 2nd time staying here. This property’s location is so nice. Walks away from the cute little neighborhood beach. We liked that we had a kitchen to cook in and really enjoyed having a patio to ourselves. Staff has always been kind each time.

Unfortunately, if you stay in the townhouse one, and it happens to be a hot day in SC, it will be very very stuffy. We unfortunately were in SC on a very hot weekend in October, and it was very hard to sleep through the night due to the heat. Another thing I noticed was that there was a constant rustic smell in the restroom. It was very mild but still, a bit bothersome.

The room was clean; bed very comfortable. Counter space and kitchen sparse.

The front office was not welcoming; a doorbell to ring and no way to check in earlier than 4 which is later than most hotels and no one is there. Not friendly just businesslike. Breakfast is Costco bagels, yogurt, fruit, muffins, oatmeal. Ok. The wifi is the worst and heater, cooling needs work per a maintenance person. But all in all a nice hotel.

Very nice and located right by a nice local beach. The staff were super friendly and loved dogs. Having kids and let’s it’s nice to have a kitchenette which was perfect. Gas stove, apartment sized fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave, mini basic coffee maker, etc. They had special towels and treats for my dogs. I brought a crate to keep my dogs calm while we were out at the Boardwalk all day which is not pet friendly.

We had no complaints. All very nice and cozy.
