staff-- so helpful and friendly. the view was great -- 8th floor so not very high but there are no buildings right next to the hotel that would block the view; location great for bars, restaurants, window shopping. We walked to Lincoln Park and the Chicago History Museum, past a Frank Lloyd Wright house (actually called the Charnley-Persky House Museum) and Astor St. historical district. The river walk is a bit of a hike but worth it because the hotel neighborhood (near north side/gold coast) was so walkable, a bit more mellow but still definitely in the city. Also, more restaurants are open beyond business hours (i.e. weekends) near the Viceroy compared with the Riverwalk area. Lou Malnati's right next door, a few markets within a block or two. Bed was very soft which I prefer. Never heard our neighbors -- very quiet.

The hotel’s location is excellent—just a short walk to the lake and the Magnificent Mile, surrounded by great restaurants and shops. A pancake spot around the corner and Lou Malnati’s pizza right next door are major perks, especially if you're traveling with always-hungry teenagers. The rooms are spacious, thoughtfully designed, and very comfortable. The overall interior design reflects great taste, creating a stylish and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, adding to the pleasant experience. The mini-bar is also well-stocked, which was a nice touch. It’s a great place to stay if your budget allows. Highly recommended!

I was fully satisfied with my stay at this hotel and would definitely choose it again. Next time, I’d request a front-facing room to enjoy a better view of the skyline.

First and foremost, In an industry where customer service usually leaves a lot to be desiresd, Mister Camerons attention to detail and professionalism is to be commended. All guests were greeted by name. And at vatious times, greeted respectfully in their native language. For that alone we'll not soon forget his kindness.

The restaurant could use a bit of help. The wait time to receive our order was unecessarily lengthy. And once received, everyone at our table noted key irregularities with their dishes that should have been caught during plating: overcooked chicken breasts, hollow falafels, and wilted salad greens, etc. After two unsatisfactory lunches we collectively decided to forgo the restaurant and venture out for all subsequent meals.

Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, Viceroy Chicago delivers a refined and memorable stay. Highly recommended.

My partner and I booked the viceroy for it's art deco history and the fact that the modern redesign retained the inspiration from the art deco era. We found the hotel to be beautiful, full of kind cheerful staff. We liked the candy in the lobby and the environmentally friendly options. Our room was comfortable and quiet and the bathroom was beautiful. We ate in the restaurant downstairs and had an excellent breakfast again with very nice staff. An absolutely stunning hotel.

I would have liked a few more options for pillows on the bed as the pillows were feather-soft but my neck prefers something firmer. finding the right temperature for the room was difficult as the spring weather was inconsistent.

This is a great hotel. The location was perfect - right in the heart of the "Gold Coast" in a lively area with great proximity to shopping and dining. The staff was fantastic. The hotel was beautifully, and interestingly (but not conventionally), decorated. The rooms were very large and very well equipped. The restaurant (ground floor) and bar (rooftop) were beautiful and the food was very good, but not great. Really great bicycles were available for free from the front desk and I strongly recommend this as a great way to see Chicago. I travel a lot and used to be a professional hotel investor. I am a tough grader but I will definitely be coming back to this hotel and will happily recommend it to friends.

I think that the breakfast in the restaurant was a bit disappointing. Other than that, nothing to suggest.

The hotel is really well-kept. Public spaces were clean and comfortable. It has a nice rooftop bar area. The room was quaint, well-ventilated, and nicely designed.

With all the positives that this hotel has, it is not a true 5-star hotel. It doesn't have full porterage service, the pool is very tiny, and the amenities are average, which made the experience feel overpriced. Prepare for an additional 25-8% of fees to be added to your final bill. For example Booking.com rate was 585usd for 2 nights. Viceroy charged 731usd at the end of the stay (which incl. city tax, state tax, amenities fee, etc.)

Excellent location, and everything was tastfull designed. The views were very nice.The staff was very pleasant and professional. Very nice bathroom. The candy and coffee station in the lobby was a nice touch. Appreciated the welcome bottle of processco and truffles to celebrate birthday.

The pool was small and closed way too early at 5pm. Beautiful large bathroom with separate large tub, show for two, and separate water closet but no separate sink even thou their was the space for it.

clean, eclectic boutique hotel in the heart of the Gold Coast…

Our room was not made up for two of the five days…oddly, the maid card went missing on the first day. The television was dysfunctional on the first three days, and ultimately on the fourth day it completely broke down (two days before our departure). Maintenance confirmed the issue , citing it needed complete replacement as it was antiquated. We just didn’t want to move rooms as we enjoyed the lake view, of which an alternative was not available. Management did offer us 50% off a future day in the next year as a consolation, which we will look forward to.

Every staff member we encountered from Antonio and his crew at the valet station to the lobby staff was fantastic.A special thanks to Kat Weber who patiently answered all my questions and helped me pick the perfect room for our 40th wedding anniversary. She nailed it. The Viceroy is our favorite hotel - ever.
