The ONLY complaint I have for The Alexander is that there was a foul smell that would come from the Hotel Lobby. Couldn't figure it out at first but by my third day I realized it was coming from the patrons that had access to the lobby's restroom from next door that had a small bar or coffee shop (not quite sure what it was because i didn't go there) that needed to use the bathroom. It was REALLY BAD when they had bowel movements! I honestly don't think they should have had access OR they need to have HOURLY cleaning/cleaners go into the bathroom.

Great size size for our family of five! Located near everything but far enough out to avoid noise. Fairly recently updated with tasteful decorations and a great kitchen.

Floors are very uneven and can pose a trip hazard. Various doors didn’t close because of this. Elevator on second floor was misaligned and evidently had been this way for months (read this in another older review) Fire alarm was being tested while we were there for several hours, causing a nuisance for all guests. A note was sent about this after testing had already begun.

This place is simply an apartment that you rent and its wonderful. The rooms are up to date and really pretty, and the location is perfect if you work in or around CBD.

Some of the room updates seem like they were not done to the highest quality: holes or cracks in walls, uneven floors, cabinet/door handles missing or loose. We've also seen some pet hair on chairs; we understand that pets are allowed and we are pet people, but we don't necessarily want to see someone else's pets hair.

We reserve this hotel for my mom and mother-in-law when they came into town for a visit, since we don’t have space to host them in our apartment. It’s a great location in downtown New Orleans that is close to everything, relatively safe, and quiet. The bedrooms and bathrooms were great, and the living space was wonderful for, just sitting around relaxing and talking. The decor was charming and provided lots of amusement and topic for conversation. Note that this is a keyless entry. You’ll receive an email with codes for the building door and the room door. There are cleaning staff around, but no service staff assist with any questions, queries, difficulties should arise. It wasn’t an issue for us, but if that is something you look for in a hotel, you may want to look elsewhere.

The ice machine had excessive frost and so didn’t come out of the dispenser. In our particular room, there was a big gap between the top of the door and the door jam.

The property was very nice and clean. The toilet was messed up upon arrival, but the host sent someone very quickly to fix it. The location was exceptional and close enough to walk to everything we wanted to do.

The smell upon entering the building was bad in which I believe had something to do with a sewage problem downstairs.

It was clean and spacious in a nice historic building in a perfect location in the CBD. Great for our family. Walkable to everything. The staff were nice and the property managers responded quickly to any question we had.

The apartment was great so any criticism is really minor. The furnishings were a little sparse—there were no dressers or shelves for clothes, just a closet. And it would have been ideal if there had been a washer/dryer.

Location and ease of getting in and out

I had a two bedroom, which I was upgraded into, thankfully. The master bedroom is on the street and was super loud the first night. I slept in the second bedroom to get away from the noise of the street and the bar downstairs the next few nights. Super comfortable! Get a 2 bedroom if you stay!

The location is excellent and convenient to everything. Management responded to requests very quickly. The apartment was very clean and spacious. Beds were creaky but still comfortable.

The living room furniture was very uncomfortable. The sofa and chairs all gave me a backache. Weak water pressure in the shower. Check in time is 4pm (although they were able to get us in an hour earlier).

The location was great pretty much within walking distance of everything. Clean, comfortable and very stylish.

There were a couple of lamps that didn't work, a handle was missing on a closet in the bathroom and the shutters in one of the bedrooms was tapped together. otherwise was very nice.

The location was excellent! A parking garage was directly across the street. Close enough to the hustle and bustle without being in it. The rooms were big and nice and comfy beds (besides the pull out couch).

The living room sofa and chairs were very uncomfortable! A new sofa is for sure needed! The ice maker wasn't working in the fridge. There was also an unpleasant smell throughout the condo upon arrival. It smelled like Marijuana and lysol mixed together. We got used to it, however upon leaving and coming back we would notice it again.
