One of the beds in our room had long hair all over the pillows and sheet. White shower curtain looked dirty on the bottom.

The room was clean, spacious, very comfortable, and very quiet. We had morning sun and a view over the marsh from our window/balcony. The beds were wonderful to sleep in. Our housekeeper was charming and did a great job.

The stairwells were not air conditioned and were hot and stuffy on our climb to the second floor. We were unexpectedly charged after our departure for a non-existent pet and pet cleaning, but after a pleasant phone call with the manager the charges were reversed.

We’ve passed this motel for years while traveling to Maine, but the renovations are what attracted us this time, its unique rustic setting, and its proximity to a favorite spot, the Freeport Cafe. We were most impressed with the modern, clean new rooms and will probably try the ones with the waterfront views next time. All the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely a highlight of this road trip.

The only minor difficulty was carrying our heavy luggage up the stairs to our room, and that’s just a first world problem.

The rooms were clean, A/C worked well, pool was fantastic! Great price, short drive from most attractions.

Bathroom needs updating. Did not realize that the hotel had 2 seperate locations. Would have been nice to know since we were meeting with family there and ended up getting rooms in seperate buildings, maybe a 2-3 minute drive between but still. Also, there are no elevators and the stairwells were VERY hot.

Lobby / reception area was nice, looked recently refurbished. Clerk was friendly. Room was acceptable for a budget property.

This place is strange. Has two separate buildings close by. And the reception lobby is in yet another building. It's not a bad area, but the approach and lighting are a little isolated and dark. Stayed in the building down the road from the office, arrived on a dark, rainy night and felt a little unsafe getting out of my car and into the building with no one around. I know the area, but the parking lot and building are in a bit of an isolated spot. As a solo traveler it was a little unnerving. Would prefer to stay somewhere near to reception / staff. If you want to check out you need to drive down the road to the office. Likewise, that's where the in-lobby coffee is as well.

The way this hotel is perched high on both banks of the Royal River and being that it is peak foliage season in Maine makes this our favorite hotel to visit. The property is very well maintained and the house keeping staff keep these units extremely clean. Upon entering our cozy room on the third level we were impressed by the view from our large round window that perfectly framed the entire property. But we also couldn't help but notice that the floors and every other surface were spot less and free of dust. My daughter has sensitivity to dust so it's always an important factor in choosing a place to stay. .

If I had to pick one thing and I know it's happenstance, the ice machine was out of order.

We were able to get a room in the front which had a nice view of the lawn in the pool, easy access. My husband is handicapped so it was easy to get into the hotel room on the first floor. It was clean, immaculate and felt very comfortable.

At first, they gave us a room down the street. It was up a dark road no lighting the room smelt like cigarettes and I wanted to cry, thankfully he moved us to another room in the main hotel, which was beautiful

A frequent choice when we stay in Freeport because of location, staff, and their acceptance of our dogs traveling with us. Updated facilities and great breakfast at the Freeport Cafe located just by the entrance.

It’s always a bit awkward getting in and out of the two buildings because of landscaping and land contour but I’ve learned to navigate it over the years.

This was a new and immaculate property. It is adjacent to a world-class diner that serves fabulous breakfasts. My room was larger than expected, immaculate, quiet, and facing the parking lot. They also had a designated dog-walking area with a supply of cleanup bags. All in all, a terrific experience. And the staff was beyond helpful. Kudos to all.

After spending two very hot days in NYC at a hotel with AC that didn't work very well, it was a welcome relief to have a room with a fully functional AC.

The entry/stairway was hot...just opening the windows might helped cool it down at night.
