We will try to come back to this motel and avoid all the others we've been at in Albuquerque. Despite the fact that San Mateo is more rundown than the other motels in the area, it is MUCH nicer. With all of the others we felt like were in the center of a meth/fentanyl and homelessness epidemic... which we were. San Mateo is very clean, smells good, and just doesn't have the horrible general atmosphere of other motels in Albuquerque. Also, it has memory foam toppers, which to me is a really big deal, and for that alone I'd come back.

It needs to continue investing in the rooms. The tables and doors and carpets were in rough condition. With the carpet there were tears, but it was clean.

I was so sure that I had reviewed this lovely motel in time, apologies for the delay. I must have been too sad to leave; lovel welcome and much more comfortable than the price tag suggests. Brilliant choice of coffee and tea in the lobby from a great coffee maker. You get a discount with your room key at the nearby diner, which is handy if you do not fancy driving to town. Sadly we realised that their big pool was actually heated - i did not even try as a previous location's one was very chilly - so definitely have a dip

It was a little tricky to get in or out from the drive, depending where you are coming from. Easy to find coming in at the East of town from the motorway going West, little more complicated to rejoin that route or from other direction.

Older motel but recently refurbished. Prompt check-in. Helpful front desk staff. It was a noisy first night as our room was close to a remarkably busy San Mateo Blvd. We asked for a room in the back for the second and third nights which was much quieter. Good-sized rooms with large modern bathrooms. Exceptionally clean facility. The inn is surrounded on three sides by a fence. Parking in front of rooms. Denny's next door has great service but at most average food.

Located on a remarkably busy street with considerable noise all night. Some difficulty entering and exiting the Inn due to location.

The hotel is in a centralized location right off the freeway. Essentially 10-15 minutes to anywhere in the city you'd want to go. Lots of places to eat in the immediate area (from authentic small businesses to larger chains). The staff was excellent. I was assisted by 2 gentlemen at the front desk during my stay. Both were helpful, friendly, and accommodating to the best of their ability. When I arrived it had been the end of 3 long days of driving and I was looking forward to stopping for 2 days to rest and regroup. The employee at the front desk, upon hearing of my journey so far, was kind enough to give me a ground floor room in the back of the lot so that I could just unload the car and recoup in peace and quiet. The rooms themselves are clean and you can tell they gave them a face lift. Layout is similar to a motel 6 room but with more charm/character. The air conditioner had new/clean filters added to them upon arrival. They also have laundry facilities on the property. I was able to do my laundry without having to leave the property which was a great perk for someone like myself who plans to be on the road for 2+ weeks. Though I didn't swim, I did check out by the pool and it is clean and well kept. Many other guests utilized it during my staff with obvious glee. Overall the real selling point for this location is the staff. You get the vibe from them and the small little touches in the room that they want you to enjoy your stay and explore/enjoy their city.

The entrance/exit was a little hard to get to depending on the direction you approached. I usually had to go down a set of lights and make a uturn or make a right turn and then a uturn. Some of the outlets are old so you need to jiggle them a bit to work. And some outlets were almost stretched out in a way that wouldn't let any plugs stay in place. Fairly odd actually but was able to make it work.

The room was clean, like the way it was decorated, very comfortable.

You're not guaranteed to get parking in front of your room, especially if you are out for dinner. I had to park six cars down from my room. I noticed every vehicle had their parking permit showing on the front window except for one vehicle not showing, informed the front desk but the employee said he would look into it but never did.Also, there were other guests who were outside talking loudly around 1 am. You could hear the guest above our room walking around late at night. I did inform the front desk of the bathroom door sticking and it was hard to open when exiting.

The Location was important to me, the facilities are older but well maintained, The entire facility has fencing with one way in and out with additional use of cameras and roving personnel to keep vehicles relatively safe during the night. The bed was comfortable and everything worked as it should without excessive noise. All the staff that I met were friendly and truly acted as if they cared I had a good stay with them.

The toilet/tub area was a bit cramped and had low height toilets but bathroom is functional overall. The only issue I had were the people directly upstairs were heavy footed and stayed up late but I do not hold the motel responsible.

Excellent coffee bar, staff at the front counter was very friendly and helpful.

Housekeeping was not very helpful, we had to ask for trash bags and take our trash to the dumpster, We needed more toilet paper and my husband asked one of the housekeepers outside of our room and she told him to walk down to the laundry to get more instead of giving him a roll she had on the cart. I know every place is short staffed, if they’re not going to clean or check the room on an extended stay, leave extra supplies.

The room was very clean and completely remodeled with wood floor. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel was clean and the employees very nice! There was parking available despite the fact that the hotel was fully booked due to the Balloon Fiesta. The bathroom was nice also. Well decorated rooms. Chocolate waiting for us with a welcome card.

The price was high for a Motel, of course because of balloon fiesta…but still, L.A prices in New Mexico.. 🤦🏻‍♂️ No breakfast… only tea/coffee available in the lobby. No hot chocolate for kids.

Yvette was amazing when we checked in as she had a line of people and still kept her sense of humour and professionalism. Her beautiful dog was a gorgeous welcoming party too. Loved our room! Very clean and the king bed was extremely comfy. So nice to see a motel who provide a compendium of recommended places, and the chocolates on the bed were a dying tradition but always makes you feel special. Denny's next door was an easy walk for nice food. Highly recommended place to stay.

A few "locals" are around the streets but that seemed to be the usual in Albuquerque, no matter where you stay.

I didn't have breakfast. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating. You can tell this was an older property and they are really trying to elevate it. It felt private and secure.

The lights above my bed didn't work and there really is a need for more electrical outlets and USB ports. Parking was a little tight. It would be helpful to designate a parking space for each room, in front of that room. I had to unload 3mos of luggage, 2 cats, a litter box and an ice chest by myself an halfway down the parking lot. Also, pets are allowed but my very skiddish kitties immediately ran under the bed platform, which I could not move or lift. Begging 2 skiddish cats to come out before check out was not fun. Perhaps make it easier to move the platform or block off the side spaces where pets can slink into. Overall, it was still a great experience.
