Kind staff beautiful place extremely comfortable bed attentive staff but also they leave you alone where you don’t feel under a microscope.

Over all good no room service, no breakfast options, they are on their off season that may be different- not a huge deal but can’t bill room for restaurant a little bit of mold in bathroom shower, it happens don’t think the room we had is used often or has been in a little bit. Otherwise the place was very clean

My daughter and I stayed her for one night after a KOA stay for the last week, before we had to be in Albany for a wedding, we were looking for a halfway point and stumbled across this and thought how fun! Was surprised by the affordable price point and when we arrived even more surprised at how large and well kept our room was. The exterior and interior of the castle was beautiful, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and when they recommend the Italian spot around the corner for dinner, listen to them - amazing food!

Only con was that we only stayed one night. My 5 year old wants to move right in!

Spectacular ambience that is distinctly memorable and unique! Loved the decor of the Great Hall! The garage to store bicycles while cycling the Empire State Trail was greatly appreciated!

Although my room was comfortable, the walls seemed paper thin. Staying in a room on the first floor, I could hear a lot of movement from the room above and sounds from the neighboring room.

While the city of Amsterdam was a little tricky to navigate - I ended up on the wrong side of the river on a snowy night - there were several well-posted signs, that helped me find the castle. It was a beautiful building! Historical details and creative, more recent additions. Clearly a labor of love. The central great hall was stunning - a perfect spot to host a wedding reception, I would imagine. And the Officers' Lounge was charming. My room was nice, clean, quiet and warm. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here!

At this time, there is no food or beverage service at this lodging. They do provide Keurig coffee machines and some snacks in the room. And there was info about nearby places to get food.

The Amsterdam Castle is a hotel in a repurposed National Guard Armory. The old exercise and drill area is now a grand dining hall with 3 story high ceilings. The officers drawing room has been left as an elaborate parlor. Our room was furnished with overstuffed leather upholstered chairs, a very comfortable bed, and period pieces. Fully equipped with large smart TV, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Nice assortment of complimentary snacks.. Bathroom with double sinks and huge shower. No breakfast at the Castle. We feasted on breakfast at the cozy South 30 Diner just south of the NY State Thruway. Willa enjoyed a perfect veggie and egg burrito with homemade hot sauce - the best burrito ever. I had eggs with delicious homemade sausage. Folks at the next table loved their sausage with gravy. They were disappointed when they found out that the homemade corned beef hash was sold out. We enjoyed a conversation with the proprietor Rain on Buddhism, rural and urban life in upstate NY, and the good and bad of a tiny New England college. Highly recommended!

We stayed one night whilst traveling. Check in was straight forward, with the receptionist able to recommend places to eat nearby. We went to the Italian restaurant just down the hill - it was excellent. Parking was free, just outside the door. The rooms were large, very clean, with free wifi. The bathroom was also very clean, with 2 sinks & a good shower. There was no breakfast available in the hotel, but there was a fridge, coffee maker & complementary granola bras & shortbread. The actual building is extremely impressive - looks like a castle, with actual suits of armor.

It would have been nice to have the option of breakfast. Other than that, everything was excellent.

Do not charge my credit card and confirm payment ahead of checking in to this hotel because the hotel must collect payment. This is contradictory and makes me want to avoid using Bookings.com

Very accommodating, great food references. Might bring my own coffee mug next time, they do provide paper coffee cups, but we do like glass/ceramic. Really the only thing we would prefer. The owners really tr=y to give you a castle feel, some homemade touches.

We really don't have much bad to say about the place. No room other than a room for 8 has a view of the City of Amsterdam but again was not a big deal as they do have common spaces that you can see the city.

A delightfully quirky place! Needed a place west of Albany that was close to the thruway and this fit those parameters and it was a castle. Upon entering you are immediately in a great hall ready for a medieval dinner! My room was lovely and quite comfortable. The bathroom was very large and loved the shower. Looked around the common areas and was enthralled by all the areas. I only stayed overnight and it was a splurge as the prices were higher than I normally like to spend, however, this was an experience.

My fiancé and I loved our stay here. The rooms are large, very clean, and you’re in a castle!! We stayed here during a road trip so it was very out of the ordinary compared to our classic big name hotels along the way, but a similar price as other hotels near the area. It’s worth the extra $10-20. Beautiful interior halls, historic rooms, and again, it’s a castle. We were greeted by a lovely check-in woman who ended up returning my fiancé’s dropped credit card. I will be staying here in this portion of all my future road trips.

The building is from the late 1800s so floors may be squeaky, but they minimize that as much as possible. No ghosts!
