The grounds are stunning, and the location is excellent.
I got the impression that every hotel staff member I encountered was in the wrong field of work. No one seemed happy. Not once did anyone provide a good level of service. They weren't friendly or helpful. That included check in, when I was charged the whole stay when I had already paid and when the lock on the door didn't work. They also need to retrofit an elevator - carrying luggage down three flights of stairs was bad, but carrying it back up was awful.

Tarrytown House Estate was the perfect escape from the city; 40 mins away by train or car in a green oasis. The setting is peaceful, charming and historic; the two pools (indoor and outdoor) are fun and the gym was excellent. Our room was spacious and we loved the window seat looking over the grounds. Breakfast was very nice, and the surrounding village was charming for a walk or a meal out. The staff were warm and welcoming. We loved the time to catch our breath before going back into Manhattan. We will definitely do this again!!
Nothing, everything was great!

I stayed in the King Mansion Room with sundeck. The view is absolutely amazing, and you can see the NYC skyline. At night it was breathtakingly beautiful with all the lights from the city, and a light around the sundeck. Cozy room, with cool artistic ceiling. Comfortable soft sheets, and comfortable bed. Ate at the restaurant, which was absolutely amazing. Excellent staff, excellent food. They have children’s menu too, which was great. Loved the mocktails. The grounds are well taken care of and beautiful, looks like a place you would want to have a wedding.
The hotel does let you know, but there is no elevator in the king mansion. There is staff available to assist you. The restaurant is located on the bottom floor, but I did not hear a single thing in my room. It’s a beautiful old mansion so keep that in mind with the charm. No microwave, so I did have to plan with my kiddo.

I love the actual grounds they are really exceptional and well taken care of, beautiful to walk around and look at. Pool area was so nice to swim and the lifeguard was great. Room worked well, everything was very clean. Very comfortable bedding and soft sheets. Really enjoyed all the shampoos/conditioners/lotions provided. Hotel staff is exceptional, everyone was so professional and kind. The restaurant is absolutely exceptional! Food and staff are top notch. Every single dish was incredible. Have a nut allergy and they were so accommodating and did not have an issue at all. Mocktails were so good too.
It’s important to know that some buildings do not have an elevator. This did not deter me, there is a staff to help if needed. Room was kind of cold for me with the AC with no way to adjust, so I did ask for extra blankets which hotel brought very promptly. Window in the room was broken so I couldn’t open it.

My wife and I had a truly lovely stay at the Tarrytown House Estate. The property is rich with charm and character, and I was especially impressed with how well it has been maintained considering its historic roots dating back to the 1800s. While there were a few minor signs of wear and tear, nothing took away from the overall beauty and experience of the estate. The cleanliness throughout the property was excellent—from the guest rooms to the common areas, everything felt tidy and well cared for. The indoor and outdoor pools were also very clean and inviting, perfect for a relaxing swim. We appreciated the range of outdoor activities available, including bocce ball, racquetball, basketball, and more. The grounds were peaceful and quiet, making it easy to unwind. We also noticed a nice mix of guests—families, couples, and even a few people traveling with their small dogs, which added to the warm and welcoming vibe. That said, there are a few areas where improvements could be made. The front desk could use more staff to handle the volume of calls and guest needs, especially during busier check-in and check-out times. Also, we wish the on-site restaurant stayed open at least an hour later, or at least offered extended hours for hotel guests. Still, these are small notes in what was an otherwise wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful escape with a touch of historic elegance.
Some noticeable wear and tear around the property.

Lovely area. The grounds were beautiful. There is a small indoor pool that was pleasant, a sauna, and a great, very large gym. The restaurant at the hotel was excellent.
The buildings where most of the rooms are definitely look dated. The internal lock closed spontaneously, locking us out on the first day. Apparently that happens regularly. The hairdryer looked like it was 50 years old, and it blew a fuse in the socket. They brought me another that was from the same decade.

We had a 2-night stay. The room was lovely- clean, quiet and the king bed was very comfortable. The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. Brianna at the front desk was particularly helpful and friendly. She was so warm and welcoming. At her suggestion, we had the breakfast buffet, and it did not disappoint! The selection of delicious food, the staff, the mansion it was in, were all wonderful. The grounds are so beautiful, we would stroll the property in the evening. Perfection location- easy travel to all the sites we wanted to explore. Very happy with our stay.

Lovely setting. Perfect for destination wedding/conference. Very bucolic. Quiet. Safe. Nature setting. Lyndhurst Mansion and downtown Tarrytown very close. Convenient.
No elevator in Rockland house. Had to carry our luggage up one flight of stairs. Parking lots are at lower levels so had to hike up hill to get to hotel. Dated decor. Staff not engaging or attentive, and not explaining parking and other amenities such as breakfast times and locations. Hallways not air-conditioned. Smelled moldy. Breakfast was $25 per person. Cheaper to drive downtown.

Grounds and pool are amazing! Really well-maintained property with lots of space for gathering. Restaurant breakfast was well stocked and food was delicious.
With 2 restaurants on property, it would be nice to have something open for lunch and happy hour offerings. Providing a continental breakfast purchase option should be available. The food offerings for the buffet are great but when you just want continental and are charged $30/person that feels overpriced.

The room was great: clean, spacious, with a comfortable bed. And with a forest of trees outside our windows, we heard a chorus of birds throughout our visit -- comforting, relaxing, not noisy at all.
We needed a Sherpa guide to find our room. The rooms are sprawled across many buildings, so helpful signage is essential, yet directional signs are few and far between. This didn't take away from the charm of the hotel; it became a challenge, a game, to find the indoor pool and fitness center, but really, the place needs LOTS better signage.
