Our stay went very well. The Viking Motel was centrally located which was important to us. We were able to get on the freeway quickly. I liked the ease of parking and not having to pay for parking. I felt secure, staff seems to keep an eye on its small, family-owned property. Right behind there is a nice residential neighborhood and we enjoyed walking 6-8 blocks to Killingsworth, a main street, where there were a few neighborhood restaurants/bars. The room provided coffee and front desk was courteous and friendly. The room and the grounds were very clean and the housekeeper friendly and helpful and replenishe towels quickly. The motel is not modern, but clean and very comfortable. The water flow is good and plenty of hot water. We would definitely stay here again. We reserved the one and only room with a kitchenette and really enjoyed having it.

I cannot force myself to think of something I did not like. The trolley like runs on the street right in front, but it was not noisy nor annoying to us. We are accustomed to city "white noise". .We slept very comfortably.

We were in Portland for the indycar races and the motel was less than 10 minutes from the track. The unit had everything that we needed and the bed was comfortable. There is a supermarket 1 block away and another 2 blocks away, as well as a restaurants and liqour outlet and gas station very close. Also tram runs right past the motel.

The person in the room next door who left the tv on all night

I had a good experience in my stay. The motel was in the perfect location for what I was doing that weekend. The room was clean and didn't smell like some other places I've stayed. Bed was comfortable. But for me there wasn't enough light in the room. In the bathroom the exhaust fan was noisy and the ceiling heat lamp didn't work....? But it was very clean. If I come back for the big swap meet again. I'll stay here. Thank you

The room was very clean. It is an older motel, but you can tell it has been very well cared for. It was very quiet even though the sign said no vacancy. We were very comfortable and happy that we found this place and will continue to use it when we are in the city.

They don't seem to have an ice machine, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. Can't really think of anything bad. The floor squeaked in spots. It didn't bother us, though it might have for whoever was below us.

Our room was clean. The AC worked fine. There was no ice machine that we could find (maybe we missed it?) The location was safe and close to a great little market.Staff was friendly and professional. We would stay again.

With no elevator (hey, it's a motel, after all) the 2nd floor was not terribly convenient for us. We are a bit "older" and had some heavier items. We should have requested a ground-floor room when booking.

10 minute drive to Portland international raceway which was the reason we were there. Microwave and refrigerator and coffee maker in room, supermarket, restaurants, bar and metro train all 3 blocks or less and a comfortable bed and reasonably quiet. The value for money was in my opinion excellent $100 per night which is alot less than we would have to pay in New Zealand. On site car parking and friendly staff.

Extractor fan in bathroom was a bit noisy but not much different to most of the other ones are in the rooms we have have stayed in .

This was a VERY CLEAN, QUAINT, SMELLED SO FRESH AND GREAT LOCATION to everything. I am actually a high maintenance person and I felt everything I could have wanted was right there when I needed it already and didn’t need to ask for anything! We have stayed at several motels in the Portland area and this non smoking room was TRULY A NON SMOKING ROOM. Every other place I stayed at it was always a hint of smoke smell to freshly smoking, not this place. Truly this is the motel for us. I noticed someone made the comment they didn’t know why their key card didn’t work, it’s because the demagnetized so easily as did ours too, just FYI this happens at ALL THE MOTELS! Please consider this your final motel for your Portland stay, it’s definitely going to be ours. This family owned business is ran by the owners who are on site and truly take care of this place with so much love!

NOTHING… WAIT, I THINK THEY SHOULD TAKE A PICTURE OF THIER PLACE AND HAVE POSTCARDS MADE AND SELL WITH STAMPS! You could take a photo and print at Walgreens for 39cents and sell for $3 a postcard ! NOTHING THEY COUKD IMPROVE ON…

A modest older classic strip motel with no frills. Lovely owners, very kind, and the place is clean and well run. If you want a disposable shower cap, boxes of Kleenex, high end shampoo, fancy coffees, a table for two, room service, and ice machine, super nice design-y finishes and linens, cutesy touches, romantic atmosphere and lots of boutique-y stores and restaurants around, go elsewhere. This place opts for the practical and comfy - such as free parking right out front and heavy black-out curtains on windows that open. We had a big old arm chair in our room this time with a firm king sized bed. We like this place for its simplicity. It’s also on a busy and fairly unlovely street, with the light rail transit right out front. Frequented by working men who go to bed early and are out before dawn - pick up trucks in the parking lot. Great coffee place around the corner, and a good Thai - Vietnamese food cart open late and big friendly well-stocked grocery store down the block. A short walk to Heavenly Donuts on Lombard. For the ladies and stylin’ gents, a very hip consignment and couture store next door is rightly called Vein of Gold.

Wouldn’t change a thing.

The location is very convenient! There is a grocery store, station, and restaurants and cafes nearby! The room is just enough size for 2 of us, and the bed is super comfortable and had a nice sleep!

As you know this is old building, the walls and floors are pretty thin. You can hear some noise from trains, but not that loud.

The staff was friendly and informative. The room was a little small and crowded with one of the beds partially blocking bathroom door. The room was clean and bedding was ample and clean The floor was clean as I wore socks that did not become stained from walking in the floor. The bathtub was a bit stained but we purchased cleaning supplies as a precaution prior to trip and completely cleaned and sanitized room and bathroom fixtures. This we did at most of the places we stayed during our trip. Other than that minor incident, everything was okay. We were there to your the city but stayed in room most of the morning after arrival. We were located in a central area to where we wanted to visit so overall this was a great experience.

I didn't really like the layout (exposure) of the motel and parking area and was a bit wary about safety and security at night.
