The location was the awesome (right in the historic area) and enjoyed the "immersive" experience of being in a colonial tavern. Liked the coffee maker and refrigerator in the room. Very clean and well kept. Also enjoyed the downstairs common room.

We did NOT like how you have no idea what tavern or house you will be assigned to. We were first assigned to a room that was NOT in a good location and had to be asked to be changed. C'mon CW--even small bed and breakfasts allow people to pick their room--why can't you. You will avoid disappointment because if we weren't switched--we would have been VERY disappointed.

The staff was amazing. I was catered to and treated like I was special right at the door and every step of the way. Adrian and the bellhops were directly responsible. One man took my husband and I right to our door, because at the end of the day we were too frustrated to find it😅. At check-in the staff was attentive. An IT specialist was right there to help with the computer issue. We only had to walk out the door to explore the historically accurate grounds and delightful shops. I truly did not realize it was a luxury resort until I arrived and was treated like royalty! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience

The room needs some updating, especially the bathroom. It was clean and I appreciated that.

The location of the colonial houses was fantastic because the house that I stayed in was right on the Duke of Glouchester Street where all the activity was. I was able to walk from one end of the street to the other to get a full concept of Williamsburg. The staff was fantastic! I enjoyed my full breakfast at the traditions over by the lodge.

There was only one situation that was frustrating… When I first checked in, they gave me a map to get to my colonial house and they described the door that I would go in. The directions were not very clear because they put the doors on the map to enter into the house in the back of the house when it was actually meant to be in the front of the house, which caused me to go to several different houses around, which were not the right ones. The girl was a trainee, to her credit.

Location was the best. You are right there in Colonial Williamsburg. Great for morning and evening strolls along the sidewalks of the historical area. Also, just 2 miles away from Busch Gardens. And not too far from the modern conveniences (restaurants, gas stations, etc) The staff were all very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Just keep in mind they are old, so it did have that kind of old smell to it, which is to be expected. Air worked good. Keurig and small fridge in room. I would definitely stay here again.😊

There's really nothing I didn't like. Like I said, it smelled kind of old (musty might be the word) when you first enter but then you get used to it. But I expected that from an older building. It didn't bother me enough to not stay here again.

Great to be in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg, able to walk to all sites, Merchants Square. Good matress and towels.

Dark! 40 watt bulbs in three lamps does not light a room. Need to rest and read after so much walking, room too dark to read. Ladder back chair the only seating option. (Understand the small room, feet dangle from the high bed) $250. Brass key replacement put the Fear of Loss into us.

The location of the Colonial house I booked was exactly what I was looking for. We wanted close proximity to Duke of Gloucester Street so that we would be close to the King's Arms Tavern, and all we had to do was walk across the street, cross the backyard of the tavern, and there we were!

I was a little disappointed that having made a dinner reservation at the King's Arms Tavern, they were overbooked and we were relegated to an outbuilding. The waitress was wonderful, but we didn't have the experience we would have had in the actual tavern.

I loved staying in the colonial house; we have always wanted to do that!

The air conditioner was not good; we had to go and buy a fan. The shower/bathtub head would not just operate as one… you got both whether taking a shower or a bath. The keys do not work very well in the door. Also, just a note to others… if you have knee issues make sure you request a ground level room. And I will also say that the lower level was a good 10 degrees cooler than the upstairs.

We were able to book the “Queen’s Suite” where Queen Elizabeth stayed when she visited Williamsburg. Exquisitely beautiful and luxurious hotel and suite. The breakfast is an amazing experience in both food, service and decor. We looked forward to turn down service each evening. Perfect location to simply walk to the Colonial area or stroll the manicured grounds. My son was impressed with their bourbon selections.

I should have stayed longer.

This was our second stay at the Colonial Houses (specifically the brick tavern). Last time we stayed in a ground floor room and this time we requested an upstairs room with a queen bed. I prefer the downstairs room--it's a little more cramped, but the four-poster and window onto Duke of Gloucester Street feel more special. The upstairs room was fairly basic.

Location was near perfect, don't understand the question regarding breakfast?

Nothing, anymore, would remove the sense of a timeless location. You don't, and shouldn't, turn it into a Disney park, which it isn't; the historical significance and period are what the experience is about.
