Bed extremely comfortable, bathroom very big, great shower with lots of hot water! I knew there was no food preparation area but as the rooms are above Bistro with great food, and Reception had another coffee/toasted sandwich brekky area, covered all bases. No noise from Hotel area. Reception staff were extremely considerate when I needed to extend my original booking by a few days at a time, due to hospital visitation.

Cold draught under the door but I could block it off with bath mat at night. There was a bit of noise from early morning delivery vans, but not a 'deal breaker'.

Nicely kept clean room and washroom was also very clean. I loved the kitchenette’s area in the room, very clean over all. However Sofa bed was but squishy and springy, I didn’t sleep on it but my husband did and when I sat i felt the spring. But my queen bed was just so comfortable that my son and I feel asleep in 5minutes. Easy check in, I did get time to pre check but they sent it in email with the room code which I liked. We got there late at night, no hassle at all, got in easy and had a good night sleep.

Bath soap container had the pump broken so I had to switch it to use it, and then switched it back. No internal lock chain, I would have felt more safe it it was also locked from inside chain, I put a bin and shoes just in case if someone breaks in I would know as I get bit paranoid in hotels. No other issues .

Located in great suburban area totally away from big roads so no road traffic, yet less than 5minutes from Canberra Centre. Really excellent for the money. Having just left a revolting $700 hotel in Sydney (claiming to be 4*) it was really wonderful to check in and find such pride taken by the owners/cleaners to this little Motel. Not a spec of dust anywhere even ran my hand across the top of the high cupboard style wardrobe and there was no dust. It is basic but clean and comfortable and as my sister has just moved to Canberra I will be visiting her every few months and will absolutely be staying at the Statesman. There is a restaurant/sports bar come bottle shop down stairs which was basic but again you could see that the place was taken pride in and was spotless. There was no noise from the sports bar it was welcoming comfortable and in no way seedy as a young single female I did not feel uncomfortable going in and getting a drink.

Did not impact on my comfort or rest but you can hear everyone in the building when they are having a shower though it usually goes on for about 10 minutes did not prevent me from having a restful night's sleep. Lock is a code and can be a bit sensitive you just have to take your time with it.

The room was amazing, clean, tidy well functioning and warm! We came upon this one as the previous hotel we’d booked for the 2 nights was so bad we left after the first night as couldn’t bear the thought I’d another one there. We turned up one or doorstep 5 hours before checkin to see if we could leave out bags there at least and the amazing woman after hearing our tale of the previous night magically found us a clean room and let us check in starlight away, 100% this will be out new go to when we come to Canberra.

Lady at reception was so helpful and showed us to our room..in fact all the staff were very friendly and most helpful. Room had everything you need and a good comfy bed. We liked that it was attached to a hotel so we could get a meal and have drinks, there were a group of us so it was perfect. Liked the fact that the rooms were serviced each day. Also next to a small shopping complex with cafes and shops for breakfast or a good coffee, we were very happy with the three nights we had here.

I personally do not like automatic fans when you turn on the bathroom light, they are really noisy... Probably a few more tea bags and milk, it was literally one per person so had to go and find some more as we were there for three nights.

Location was great for Yarralumla where we were visiting, clean room and comfortable bed. Great shower too. Next door to a small shopping centre with Coles, cafe, bakery and other shops. We had no problem checking in at all but we did arrive during the day. The room locations are listed on the concrete pylon next to each set of stairs. Use your phone torch to see where your room is if you arrive at night.

Door between the room (to allow it to interconnect if needed) was paper thin and we could hear every word said by our ‘neighbours.’ Pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable.

Good location, with Coles and cafes across the road which was handy. There is a pub downstairs that seems more dining than rowdy drinking. But it was very in the room regardless. Parking under the building with stairs that led straight to the rooms which was handy. Didn't get my room code so had to call, and spoke with the lovely Diane who was at the new reception area and quickly sorted the check in. Lovely room with everything you needed. Loads of storage space and very comfortable bed. Balcony with sliding door so nice to get some fresh air into the space. Rooms have been renovated as has the pub downstairs. We had dinner there twice and highly recommend it.

Not sure the bathrooms have had the same level of renovations. Really I'm nitpicking though, but the shower door leaked and the shower head needed persuading to stay upright sometimes. Also a towel hook for the handtowell would have been handy. Also having a menu for the pub in the room would have been handy.

Terrific the Statesman keeps its unique political history themed throughout the hotel. Suggest info points around the hotel to share the interesting stories from the day especially if there’s a re it’s of who stayed in what room! The coded self-access & comfortable renovated rooms is good. The atmosphere in the welcoming restaurant & tasty generous meals were a big hit with my family & me. I liked the ‘pop-up’ style cafe for a quick danish breakfast & good coffee too. Certainly will be my go-to stay when in Canberra while visiting family & friends locally.

The ‘Help me to tidy my room’ sign/ service is odd. Strangely (except for Sat) only the towels were changed (& didn’t need to be) but nothing else ie bed unmade & dirty restaurant dishes left on bench from Thurs-Sat.

The bed is very comfortable and I love all the space to unpack and put things away. I hate living out of a suitcase. Shower is excellent and the bathroom floor stays dry. The e hotel concept suits us … no key to find. Everything we needed was there. Service level was perfect. We appreciated fresh towels and empty bins but there’s No need to make the bed for us.

We stayed 3 nights but the noise levels around the hotel were terrible on the first night(Tuesday night) It sounded like noisy trucks or motor bikes coming and going. Was it garbage trucks working at the nearby shops or something? We couldn’t work it out. It was about 2.30 am when I finally got to sleep. The next two nights were quieter.

The ambiance of the hotel is like a home away from home. After getting the hang of using the pin code to open the room door, it was very easy to enter the room without a room key. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious with simple furnishings. Great that there was ample space in the car park and it is free. Very convenient to have a Coles supermarket next door. Good value accommodation for Canberra especially if you have a car.

The fact that there is no reception to receive you when you first arrive is something that needs getting used to. Other than that, it is a great place to stay in Canberra.
