Socialable hostel in the heart of Byron Bay. Laundry room is good and outdoor drying lines were useful. Rooftop bar served alcohol and food were great but close at 10pm

Some of female staff clearly didn't want to be working,and was very rude. The other female staff and the male staff were great though. Bed was comfortable but the metal bunks shake when anyone moves a muscle. The privacy curtain was only 1 metre wide and bottom bunks could not close the curtain by head space due to the ladders in the way and needing the light and power sockets at that end. No shampoo or body wash provided and charge for towel. It's a huge hostel, very busy, Has a, great kitchen to use but closes at 10pm also hard to gain access to cook in the kitchen, but could always somewhere to sit. I feel mixed about it, but would stay again if no where use free next time i go.

The staff were great and always helpful. The private room with bathroom was comfortable and clean with air con. We loved the option to get beach towels and being able to leave the car in parking for as long as we needed on checkout day The location was amazing! I appreciated the commitment to quiet hours between 10pm-7am, especially on the weekends. I would definitely stay here again

The price was expensive for staying in a private hostel room, however that could have been due to the Easter holiday weekend. This does not deter me for staying here again!

Writing as a part time wheelchair user. I was in a room with an accessible bathroom. There is another entrance! It is not clear at first but the staff pointed his out to me afterwards. I went here to avoid the cyclone so it was last minute and the staff were so helpful to my needs and made sure I had space for ease of my mobility with what beds they had available at no extra cost (which has happened to me before). Space was clean and comfortable as were bathrooms. The kitchen was huge and had what you needed all very well organized. They have classes and entertainment too. Excellent location in Byron bay near everything - I could roll to the beach and the shop had no problems! Also close to the greyhound bus stop.

We stayed for two nights, the room was comfortable but fairly basic in terms of amenities (did have aircon which we didn’t have to use). It had a good communal kitchen and the rooftop bar was fun to have. It was a great location right in the middle of everything/close to the beach.

It was quite noisy outside the hotel - on Saturday night there was thumping club music til just after midnight (I think coming from down the road), and on both Sunday and Monday morning there were multiple garbage trucks right outside our window from about 6am for an hour which was very loud (one guy even started screaming from his window that it was 6am).

The surf house hit everything I needed. I stayed in a four person room. It was convenient that there was a small curtain. The kitchen was well equipped and large. It was really cool to have surfboards to borrow. The location was amazing. I also really loved the yoga twice a week.

The room was fairly small for four people. We didn’t have direct light in our room. I thought that the space in the kitchen wasn’t really cozy to hang out when the weather was bad. The hostel is far bigger than one would expect looking at the way it’s advertised.

Where do I start, the Surf House was fantastic. To begin with, we had booked a private room with shared bathroom and were upgraded to an ensuite! The room was clean, cool and spacious. The hostel is perfectly located in Byron - near to the beach, shops and only 10 min walk from the bus interchange. Surf House also has great facilities including the huge kitchen, surf board hire and bar. Completely understands why everyone raves/books into the Surf House - I will now be doing the same!

Great location right next to the beach! Love that you can pay a bit extra for parking (totally worth it) and not have to worry about your car the whole stay. Walking distance to everything. The hostel has a HUGE communal kitchen if you want to self-cater, a laundry room, and offers filtered drinking water for free. Everything was clean and despite having a rooftop bar - the hostel was chill and pretty quiet. Probably the best hostel experience for all ages.

The listing should be more clear about parking not being free but paid. Still a really great deal.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay here. The beds were really comfy, the under bed locker boxes were a plus, as was the curtain on the bed. Plenty of floor space in my 4 bed dorm. Bathrooms were decent, the showers had space in there where you could change afterwards without getting everything wet, so that was plus! There were activities on every night, I didn’t attend any while I was there but would have been keen to go to the yoga and games night! The staff were so lovely and very accommodating, couldn’t fault their kindness and professionalism. The kitchen is huge, also very busy, although that was around the weekend, so during the week it might be a bit quieter. The location was absolutely perfect. Would definitely recommend staying here, I did three nights and would have loved to stay longer!

It could be a bit loud at night from time to time, with doors slamming, and people talking in the corridors, although this was never for long, it did wake me up. Although my dorm was right next to the bathroom so I think that increased the foot traffic outside! (There were signs saying to be quiet and respectful of other guests). The bathrooms, specifically the showers, could be cleaned a bit better, there was frequently hair on the drain etc. But it didn’t feel particularly dirty, just could do with more attention.

Great location, insanely good aircon in the room, very clean rooms and bathrooms. Beds were comfortable and decently sized. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooftop bar had a solid drink selection, cheap happy hour and good staff, as well as a good pool table and activities. Could have opened a bit later, as a 10:00 finish is quite early.

Bed was on wheels and rolled when you lent on it, not a big deal but quite annoying.

Our room was upgraded to the one with balcony . Super happy to see how modern and clean are the rooms and with full toiletries and hair blower available. Customer service was going over and beyond to make us feel comfortable . Super love how you can even cast your phone on the smart tv. It’s location is perfect and all places can be explored by foot and we were allowed to even park the whole day of the check out day while we still explore the place upon check out. Complimentary welcome drinks are also a plus
