Brilliant location - 7 minutes walk to shopping area including mall, 10-15 minutes walk to The Spot for dining and movie theatres, also to light rail that takes you to SCG, QVB and Circular Quay. Also near Centennial Park and Randwick race course. Small park opposite with playground. Very quiet and safe area. Lovely, helpful staff and management. Air conditioning was excellent - very quick to cool the room down and also ran quietly. Room was spacious with very comfortable bed. A beautifully restored heritage building that was originally a large family home.

Lovely historical property renovated in classic style with modern fittings and bathroom. Great location in Randwick close to restaurants and shops, easy to get to the beach, plenty of buses to the city - plus the tram, but that’s a little walk up to the other end of Belmore Rd. Friendly and helpful staff.
It’s terrific I’ve been there many times. But you have to be careful which room you book - as there are a mixture of renovated and not so renovated rooms, with all different combinations of aircon or not, balcony or not, kitchenette or not - all affecting the price of course.

I've always booked CBD when staying in Sydney. Wanted to do Coogee to Bondi walk so checking out Coogee, stumbled upon Avonmore. What a little gem. Beautifully restored former mansion, overlooking Alison Park. Feels like you're nowhere near the city, but it's literally 15 mins on light rail from Central to Wansey Rd (one stop from royal Randwick) with a short 10 min walk up Alison Rd. We were upgraded to a king suite with a balcony overlooking the park. Beautifully restored room with a large balcony. On suite addition with shower super powerful. Our room (27) had an aircon and plenty of bathroom amenities. There was a fridge and cups and plates etc. Also plenty of supplies of coffee tea sugar and milk. The reception staff are very polite and helpful. Our room was ready at 12:30pm after we asked to store luggage as we were arriving around 12 noon. Super comfy beds. The room felt super luxurious. Sat having a drink on the balcony in the evening, watching different birds. Very quiet.
Nothing other than we wished we were staying longer than 1 night!

It was so charming! A stunning hotel with old world charm and amazing customer service, in the best location, beautiful park across the road, plenty of restaurants in walking distance, a short bus ride to Coogee and close to the race track. It’s lovely and clean with all the in room facilities you need- iron, small kitchen with tea & coffee and small fridge. Comfortable bed with extra pillows. Just perfect 👌
Loved everything- but note room access is via stairs only something to consider if you are less mobile.

Avonmore on the Park is a beautiful hotel opposite Alison Park in Randwick. The mattress was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud. It was located near numerous public transport options and cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Staff in reception, George, Kevin and Matthew couldn’t have been more pleasant, friendly and helpful. The house keeping team did a fabulous job of keeping the interior of this grand old building spotless.
What’s not to like?

The hotel was beautiful and maintained well. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was massive and the bed very comfortable. We paid extra to have an air conditioner in our room which worked when we left the room, but didnt feel like it was working the next morning (we forgot to mention this on check out - but am sure that the hotel staff would have been onto it straight away). We usually stay in the city, but as we were going to Randwick Races, we decided to stay somewhere closer with some friends also staying in the same hotel. We looked at other hotels within the area as well and thought this was the best of a bad bunch (from the reviews that people had written about them all) but this hotel was wonderful and some of the reviews didnt do it justice at all. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again.
Trying to find a carpark on a weekday in Randwick that isn't timed or in a school zone, after 9am was horrendous. We were lucky to find one eventually that was within walking distance of the hotel and free.

Loved the park right across the street… refreshing view in the heart of the city which I didn’t realise was there when booking… made for a quieter area to stay. We discovered the fabulous history of the original owner… even took an e-bike ride out to Waverley Cemetery (his final resting place)
A lift… but the stairs were a good workout up to the 3rd floor. We were concerned us going up and downstairs that the creaky floors would disturb other guests but also was part of the beauty too

Ideal location. Heritage building so has atmosphere. The balcony overlooking the park was a real plus although this room did not have air conditioning but did have a ceiling fan. Ensuite bathroom compact but more than adequate. Thanks George and Matthew for giving us such a warm welcome and being able to check us in early after a long flight from UK. We visit family in the area and this is our accommodation of choice
We liked it. Possibly slightly noisy as our room had no double glazing but this was a minor thought as everything else really suited us

We liked the quiet location, it was just far away enough from Randwick, which can be very noisy, to be nice and quiet, but also very near to all the main shops and eating places. The staff were very friendly and obliging.
Our room was quite dark and the room in general needs some refurbishing. It didn’t bother us too much but the woodwork in the bathroom, next to the shower was rotting. They should fix that really - it’s not a good look.

The hotel is in a terraced villa from 1860s, overlooking a small park in the middle of Randwick. Fantastically charming, with stained-glass front door, real old furniture, floor mosaics... you name it. My room was spacious, very comfortable, and came with a fully equipped kitchenette (fridge, microwave, electric kettle, plates etc., even wine glasses and a corkscrew). Great for a longer stay when you don't want to eat in town all the time, or simply like to drink a mug of tea in the evening. There's even a washing machine and a dryer available to the hotel guests for a nominal fee. The neighborhood is pretty quiet and really nice. Easy access from Central by tram (L2), UNSW 20 mins away by foot. Coogee Beach 15 mins away by bus. Will stay there again if I am back in Sydney.
Everything was great.
