The building is old but it has been renovated to offer a modern look and feel. Staff were really kind all the time and I really loved Damon, the activities coordinator who made the hostel activities funnier than they would have been with other people in charge. Two big kitchens with a lot of storage. My room was a male-only 6 room and almost all guests that I shared the room with were educated people from all over the world. I even made a South Korean friend there. Washroom from level 8 was very clean. Pool was very refreshing, however I used it only once. Washing machines and dryers were functioning very well and they were easy to pay and use. I have to make it clear that it’s not a backpacker hostel but a tourist hostel and for that reason you’ll see less backpackers and Working Holiday visa holders and more families and real middle-class tourists. Location is very convenient with a tram station just outside and Central train station very near. I would come back again.

Only one microwave oven in one of the kitchens. Paid breakfast is a little expensive and although it has more variety than in other hostels, I didn’t like it at all, plus the coffee machine was a little difficult to use. Some guests didn’t wash their dishes properly and I often found dirty dishes, mugs and pots that I had to wash again.

This was my second time staying there, and I couldn't be happier. The location is ideal, everything is clean, the facilities are excellent, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The hostel also offers a range of activities, which is a great bonus for solo travelers.

One downside is that the hostel is quite large and often accommodates big groups of teenagers, which can get quite noisy—especially if they’re staying in the room above, as happened during my first visit. This time, there was a group of adult women playing loud music and singing until midnight right next to my room. I raised the issue with reception, and thankfully the noise stopped shortly after. That said, it would be helpful if the hostel reinforced quiet hours more clearly. There are no signs anywhere mentioning a silence policy, and nothing was communicated during check-in either. I understand it's a hostel and complete silence can't always be expected, but a gentle reminder could go a long way—consideration for others is a simple sign of respect. Giving easy direct access to and from the airport, local, regional, and interstate destinations * Easy walk to shops, Sydney Harbour Bridge Opera house and ferries. * Our room was very spacious and comfortable *Hotel quality bedding and linens were comfortable (although I used my silk pillowcase) * Staff changed my room and assisted me as available. * Staff very professional & provides 24/7 reception, which was important for me * in-house or outside social events every night of the week * Huge locker for every bed (although you need your own lock) with a shelf for laptop and hole to safely charge your electronics. * Excellent security to rooms and wc/ bathrooms and throughout * Free unlimited filtered water available on 1st floor * AIR conditioning throughout and sett at a comfortable temperature 24/7 * Huge window to allow in light during the day and heavy drapes to draw at night for darkness * Privacy curtains for every bunk bed - v much appreciated * Power point & usb chargers with shelf for every bed with additional power points around the room * Breakfast available (at additional cost) * Clean throughout and bins emptied daily * Bathroom shower cubicles each had 3x hooks and a separate area to keep clothes/towels dry in a small dressing area within the cubicle. * Hair-dryer available upon request * Free storage areas for luggage with power points to charge your electronics * Reasonably priced compared to competitors * It is evident this is a serious business operation very professionally run.

The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The facilities (common areas with kitchen, laundry, co-working space, foyer, cinema, the attached bar and rooftop pool area), is accessible and they hold events in some of the areas so you can enjoy your stay and get to know other travelers. The room is clean with adequate sheets and doona - you certainly do not questioned whether they were washed properly. There is plenty of storage space for your luggage and there are extra paid lockers if you need it. As a digital nomad who travels, this is my preferred place to stay in Sydney especially the co-working spaces and common areas. It also allows me easy access to go to any meetings and events. Perfect.

The 2 week maximum as it's a wonderful place to stay and would rather not go elsewhere.

We stayed in a private room, but the property itself has more of a hostel-style setup (as far as I understand). So if you’re expecting a hostel – it’s great! If you’re expecting a hotel – there are some differences, for example, rooms are not cleaned daily as they usually are in hotels. The room itself had all the standard amenities, and the price was reasonable for Sydney. The staff were friendly, and we had no issues with noise or discomfort.

Nothing, maybe to add daily cleaning to private rooms

I arrived at Sydney Central station, and so the location of the YHA was excellent from that point of view. It was also very easy to take the light railway from just outside the front door to Circular Quay and other destinations, so I was very happy with the convenience of that. My room was clean and well furnished/equipped. It was great to have an en suite shower/WC. The room was clean. I also liked the fact that I had a choice of taking breakfast in the dining room at a small fee or going down to the In Cafe on the ground floor where there was an excellent breakfast menu.

I found it a nuisance to have to use my room key to use the lift, but I understand that this is for security reasons.

Couldn't ask for more! I stayed in a 6-bed dorm: clean, storage supplied (able to add own lock), curtains, bed light, 2x Aus plug sockets. Beds were comfy, not like usual squeaky hostel beds! Bathrooms clean and functional. Amenities great! Pool and rooftop lovely, lounge and kitchen very nice. I am travelling for work and the co-work spaces were excellent - double monitors available for use if you have a laptop which can be connected to the screen (HDMI and USB-C adaptor). Location was amazing, easy to get anywhere and loads of fantastic food spots in walking distance. Staff super helpful. Need card for everything, so security was amazing. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

There are only about 10 lockers available which you can add your own lock to - the rest must be rented. A lot of people just left their bags in the luggage room though, so if you're not too worried about valuables etc it's all good.

From a scale from 1 to 10, the staff were a 12! Incredibly clean! Having the tram station right out front , and Central Station right next door made getting around a breeze!

The water pressure for the shower was abysmal. That’s something they really need to work on! ASAP! Plus, the sink drain had a bit of a nasty leak straight on to the floor. A simple mention as we checked out. We didn’t consider that really a problem. Those things happen. The water pressure was our only pet-peeve.

-Location - right next to sydney central station which worked out perfectly as I had taken the train in, so very easy to get to with all my luggage, and easy to get to the airport -Value for money -Storage lockers

-Lack of housekeeping/daily room maintenance - I stayed for 4 nights and my room was never attended to. No fresh linen or emptying of my bins, could be my own expectations of hotel vs private room at a hostel -Dropping of TV wifi for casting - not an amenity found everywhere, but it was a little annoying that I had access to TV wifi to cast on day one, and then it was taken away for the remaining 3 days Was never in the room that much so didn't make much of a difference to the overall stay experience

Unique experience but I lost my phone on my check-in day. The staff were amazing and very helpful over the two days of my trip. I'm glad to say I did find my phone in the end. Location was perfect, and I found the common areas to be a good size. The shared bathroom area was pretty good. Security to the floors is good as you can't use the lift or bathrooms without your room key. My bed was reasonably comfortable. I liked that there were curtains on the bed, a light, place to charge my phone and a small shelf inside each bunk. I was fortunate with good roommates but this can't be controlled. I feel sometimes this can impacts the stay. It was my first hostel experience and I have very few complaints. Would stay again.

The doors to the other rooms and bathrooms were loud at night time but they needed to close properly to lock so not sure if this is avoidable. No clocks on the walls. Not essential for most people but I would have found it convenient as I didn't have a watch or my phone during my stay.
