People I met there. A lot of people have stayed for long term so it seems like actual home to me whenever I go back there. I’ve stayed so many hostels before but this was the most welcoming hostel ever. Also because a lot of people help to clean the hostel instead of getting free accommodation, the kitchen and bathroom were always constantly clean. And the side of kitchen was good!

They close kitchen including fridge room at 11pm. We are not kids so after we come back home from work or drinking, we want to use kitchen sometime. It gave me really difficult time to cook. I also was there for dance training and audition so when I came back to hostel after that, I really was starving and wanted to cook. Even though the people I met there was amazing, I must say staffs were most unwelcoming people I’ve seems among all the hostels. I just had feeling that they are not really welcoming us. One of the part I like to stay at hostel is because receptionist. Whenever I stay at hostel, I always meet amazing receptionist. And they really did make my journey better. So the part, I was a little bit shocked ngl.

Maze backpackers was in an excellent location. Close to great restaurants, central station and the atmosphere had w wonderful young happy vibe. The heritage building still retained some beautiful art deco features, and all amenities were fresh, clean and new. The staff were extremely helpful, particularly Milo!

The room was extremely small. Once I got used to that, I was very happy to have a comfortable retreat in a clean well managed hotel. The building itself is very nice, my room had a window that opened and a ceiling fan. All these benefits made up for the small room size.

The space is highly convenient with free games on Friday and 2 for 1 drinks on Saturdays, I didn’t mind the sound of the nightlife as it gives you a bit of hype about being in the city if your a small beach Towner like me the staff where incredibly nice everything is in walking distance cute convenient stores and lots of make your own Raman close by

The security guard on Saturday night was pretty rude to me as well as my brother who was joining us for a getaway (this has nothing to do with maze at all we will be choosing you again and again hands down ) the guard to seem to be into telling me the kitchen was closed in a very rude way when I was aware instead of the person that seemed to be on some form of drugs being on the spectrum I may act a little different but I just felt idk watched when I was just walking around stretching my legs after being sitting at a festival all day and wanted to see the setup for breakfast next morning before a 7 hour trip I ended up going across the road where maze gives you a voucher for a buffet breakfast

Super friendly vibe and staff, very helpul too. The Maze is not the most modern hostel but it just feels like home, you get to meet plenty of people after just a few days, good activites and free stuff and food. Everyone can gather up easily for a fun night out or in playing pool. Quiet after 10pm rule, suits everyone and a good idea.

The cleaning staff is not super dilligent when it comes to getting rid of the cockroaches in the bathrooms, or when just cleaning the duvet covers.

- Very centrally located - close to Central and Town Hall stations with many restaurants and shops nearby - Rooms and bathroom facilities were relatively clean despite being a bit dated - Free towel and linen - Good value for money, you get what you pay for - Clean kitchen and dining facilities

- The carpet in the rooms and hallway smells old and musky - Was required to show a photo of my passport at check in (as per reception's 'policy') which I didn't have with me since I was travelling domestically. Not a issue for me in this case but could be problematic if a guest is an Australian resident with no/expired passport. I recommend the policy be changed to also include other forms of photo ID such as drivers' licences as these are commonly accepted everywhere else in Australia

Great place for a quick stay, very close to China Town and Light rail stops for easy access around the city. Room was small (private room with bunk beds) but all we needed, beds were clean and comfortable, amenities were very clean and the kitchen area offered great facilities. It is an old building, so condition as expected. Staff were very friendly and helpful, allowed to leave luggage on your check out day while you explore the city before a late flight home which was great, didn't have to lug our bags around with us. Great security within the building and was located in a nice area that felt safe. I would have no hesitation in staying again to explore more of Sydney.

The room, although quite small, could use a small cupboard to hang clothes and maybe some hooks on the back of the doors to hang your wet towels. Other than that I couldnt think of anything I didnt like.

Very clean, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Movie room. Activities, freebies, good security, quiet in room at night. Hot showers, lockers to leave bags when out of town for course. Accomodating staff. Felt included in activities. Fresh air. Computer office room.

The Fluro lights were too bright for me. I got sensory overload. At night it would be nice to turn down hall lights etc. I sometimes get headaches and felt overwhelmed with sensory issues. No garden or back yard/ plants.

PERFECT LOCATION! just a few meters to the tram/light rail, metro stations and the buses. We were planning to stay here just for a few days but ended up extending 3x! The place can be crowded since theres too many guest staying but that can also mean that this place is the go to place for affordable accommodations. We stayed in a private bedroom with shared bathroom and kitchen. Everything you got is here, across is the Coles supermarket so you can just buy and cook. Below are thai and chinese restaurants and food is easily accessible if you dont want to cook.

Well, when we extended our stay, we asked our room to be cleaned and also the sheets and the complimentary towel to be changed. The receptionist said we cant have fresh towels again since its a backpacker accommodation. It just doesnt make sense and illogical since us extending/ booking again in booking.com is the same as having new clients coming in and giving those complimentary towels. Just like common backpackers, theres no lift/elevator. We have heavy luggages that needed to be brought up the stairs 2nd floor and some mini stairs. Laundry area can be a mess. People leaving their clothes unattended for a long time and since theres too many guests wanting to do the laundry too, a lot got disappointed. An additional signage for laundry users can help - to time and alarm.

Great location with easy train access from Museum station to Circular Quay. Only 10 min walk from Central railway station too. Lots of gas rings & microwaves in kitchen & lots of washing up sinks. Lots of people staying here so staff vigilant about food storage & cleaning. Staff very friendly. Rang prior to arrival to extend stay with no issues. Pretty quiet considering how many visitors here.

Toilets very low. Fan in bedroom noisy & no air conditioning in rooms No lifts only stairs.

Great location, about 5-7 minutes walking from the train station and is right near Chinatown, Thai and Korean towns. There are lots of boba tea shops and restaurants in the neighborhood making the area very lively and fun. Although the kitchen is pretty big but there are too many guests using it at the same time so it can get very crowded.

Guests have to scan the card keys every time which can be very annoying. That being said, it’s the hostel’s policy and they must have a reason for it.
