great digs, there are numerous bungalows on the block which are really small fully furnished small houses situated next to a lake. great little relaxing outside porches looking over lake, pretty quiet except for the bird life, heaps of ducks and birds. comfortable and clean. close to restaurants and shops. really good relaxing spot to stay.

Wifi really weak and didn't really work. getting entry to the property a bit of a pain. the owner gave me a mobile phone number to call which should activate the front gate automatically, this didn't work and I had to buzz in everytime to enter, bit of a pain.

The staff were nice the locals are friendly. Great local activities. The other birds are also use to humans can fly if they wanted to but choose to stay The ducks are colourful if you’re nice the baby ones will walk up to you. The turtles are friendly as well

Development in next property from 7 I made a noise complaint when this construction has been completed I’d go back. I’d also like to say I edited my review as when I think about it. It was just I stay up late and waking up early is not my best feature.

The place was very roomy, the bed comfortable & water for shower hot (as required). The lakes & wildlife were peaceful & very abundant. The owner was friendly/knowledgeable & I joined him 2 nights hand feeding fruit to the possums (a real pleasure). Feeding the many turtles was fun & sitting on the back deck watching the cockatoos squabble on the branches above was amusing. The location is great, 5 minutes from Urangan pier & a lazy stroll up the beach or along the esplanade is very do-able. I could happily have stayed longer than the 3 nights I booked. Having a good priced laundry facility on site was a bonus, it felt very private & safe behind the entry gate.

My mistake was to arrive at 8pm when the office was closed so getting in (other Brits note the locks turn the opposite way to back home) was a bit tricky. There seemed to be a lot of flies around that first night and not so many subsequently.

It was a very scenic and quiet location but still within easy reach of the beach and shopping facilities. The cabins were well made, each with direct lakeside frontage.

The cabin, while well made and comfortable, is probably due for a refurbishment. There was some mould around the outside base of the shower which requires cleaning. Also some of the timber on the deck was rotting. The wifi password as provided in the room compendium was incorrect for the wifi access. This needs updating.

The beds were comfortable. It had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Check in and check out were so easy with very friendly staff. The kids loved sitting on the verandah and feeding the turtles and the ducks. The grounds looked well maintained and its in a great location.

The pool was closed for maintenance for the duration of our stay, but we understand that sometimes that happens. There were a few spots, particularly in the bathroom where the floor felt a bit soft, like the floor was rotting.

Excellent location amongst small lagoons with wildlife surrounding the oldish bugalow cabin with the lagoon waters lapping the rear verandah- Turtles, ducks, swamp hens. all alined for their share of bird food ($2.00 a bag at reception) the kids were enthralled - Key to the bungalow gave access through a back gate to the local pub (also on trhe lagoon network) - Vehicle parked at the door of bungalow - All the faciolities of Hervey Bay were close and very handy from this location.

Spongy floor in the bathroom but everything work for a comfortable short stay.

Friendly staff, easy access through security gate, well maintained grounds, the fauna ie: turtles ,ducks, other water fowls/birds, as well as cockatoos was wonderful, plenty of greenery as well. We were offered a late checkout when we checked in which we didn't utilise.

The cabin decor is quite old hat but serviceable. Some maintenance required in our cabin re: the towel rack in the bathroom and the main room curtain not fully attached to it's hooks. No shampoo or conditioner as stated in the blurb, and only one small complimentary soap which is not enough for two people for two nights. One small purse pack of tissues is not enough either.

My wife and I loved our 5 day stay so very much. It was quiet and peaceful and it was a joy to see and watch all the wildlife on the lake and surrounding the villa. The villa was very spacious and comfortable with all necessities provided. Rod and Dianne were exceptional hosts, and always had a friendly smile and greeting when we saw them. Without a doubt, Sanctuary Lakes Fauna Retreat is an incredibly wonderful place to get away from the daily grind. It is very much a place to relax and chill and just soak in the serene atmosphere. We highly recommend it as a place you will want to come back to again and again. 10 out of 10 for us, and very much looking forward to when we can come back again.

Clock on the wall didn't work but this was not a problem! as we had our watches, mobile phones and computers.

We absolutely loved the atmosphere and culture Rod and Deb created on the property! Their SMS communication was great, their touch could be felt on everything, including the trust of the animals. The cabin was clean and comfy, the flora maintained, and the animals cute. :)

Other guests who do not understand the uniqueness of this place and the basic respect which should be given not only to the hosts and the belongings, but also to the flora and fauna!! Throwing turtles is animal cruelty and cannot be accepted no matter the age of the perpetrator! In other words, nothing we disliked which was within the control of Rod and Deb.

Room was comfortable. Location was beautiful. Facilities and comforts were all well thought out.

We were made to feel a little unwelcome by staff upon arrival.
