Regular visitor to Straddie, first time to stay at Samarinda. Unit 2, ground floor, garden balcony with sea view and back gate excess to beach. Perfect location. The fully self contained unit was perfect size for mum and I. Walking distance to coffee, croissants and ice creams 😍 and headland walk. Highly recommend to Straddie visitors. 💯 Will definitely stay there again. Thank you Angela, Barry and the team for your awesome hospitality. Location - Walking distance to all shops, beaches and walking tracks. Wildlife both land and sea were quite prolific. Whales, dolphins, turtles and dugong were spotted along with the usual roos, waterbirds lizards etc. The quality of the premises is similar to time share resorts I have frequented.

Sliding doors require maintenance. Shower in Bath in the main bathroom risky to use for seniors as there were no safety handles. For the sake of safety the second walk in shower was used. I had a ground floor (which is good due to mobility issues) but unfortunately we had a large family above us and the footfalls/scrapping chairs etc was quite loud.

Checking in was easy and reception staff were helpful and friendly. The apartment was roomy for the 3 of us, kitchen size was good and the balcony was lovely. Having a view of the ocean was unexpected but very welcome. Kitchen plates/pots etc were good, including having sharp knives (!) and the notes about rubbish disposal were helpful.

Floors needed a sweep (sandy) and there was a half-eaten biscuit in one of the bedroom drawers which made us wonder about thoroughness of the cleaning. Some basic kitchen supplies were a bit light on eg. only 1 dishwashing tablet and 1 garbage bag provided (for 3 people over 3 days); no paper towels and only 1 tea towel which we had used as a hand towel given its texture. (We asked for and got an extra one).

Great location, beautiful views, comfortable beds, great air con. Great value for money. Perfect for what we needed for our weekend. Check in was very easy and just a great stay overall!

Not that we didn't like this, but there was no cloth for washing up. It wasn't enough of an issue to raise with staff as we just used the dishwasher instead. We also couldn't locate the non recycling bins on check out to take rubbish to. Car parks were very tight but understandable given most people bring Ute's or bigger cars over and the accommodation was probably built a little while ago.

This was our first time visiting Stradbroke Island, we had a fabulous time. Our hosts Lisa and Matt were so welcoming so friendly we are definitely going go back for our next family holiday and will stay Samarinda Jewel by the Sea - we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else and we’ll be recommending there place to any of our friends and family. Our apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed.

This apartment is perfect for families visiting Stradbroke Island. The layout of the apartment is great, the view is amazing, the facilities are excellent and the location is as good as could be. Plus, the manager of the property was friendly and helpful!

The only improvement I can think of is that the details of what is provided could be improved in the online description. We assumed that small shampoos and conditioners would be included but they weren't, and we did not expect anything like the excellent kitchen facilities that were provided - we would have packed differently if we had known!

Communication with reception staff was great. I was incredibly grateful for the free wifi in the apartment as there was zero coverage with Optus at the apartment and in most areas of the island

The only toiletries provided were 2 small bars of soap. I didn’t bring shampoo or conditioner as these are generally a standard inclusion in accomodation rooms. Also no face washers (flannels) provided, again something that is normally a standard inclusion

Some apartments were not so clean, especially the oven and some sheets had some stains. 1 apartment had no tv remote and the tv only worked manually

I loved how modern and stylish the room was. Had everything anything you can think of in the drawers and cupboards. Views of the sea was impeccable. Friendly and welcoming staff on arrival. The whole stay was outstanding.

No fault of the hotel. However, was outlined that the WiFi was not the best. Mobile data was touch and go. But again no fault of the hotel this comes down to nbn to the island.

We have never been to North Straddie before so location was unknown to us, but we were blown away at how close we were to main beach, the Cove and the surf Club, easy few minutes walk, also close to the local bakery (yum) and ice cream shop, of course the North Gorge walk (absolutely gorgeous) as well. The room was clean, fresh and comfortable, we appointed, we didn't want for anything extra in the room at all. watching whales from our verandah a definite plus!

Possibly a lock on the back gate for security and maybe the pool area needs a little refreshment.
