Fantastic tranquil location with access to a secluded beach. Villas with the sea view provide stunning views

Most of the staff were very helpful, attentive & excellent. Just one little incident in the dining area with a staff member who after clearing out plates, despite there being clear food remnants, placed the dessert spoon etc on the table & was not as attentive as the other waitresses (unfortunately I don’t know her name; unsure if name tags are worn ? If they aren’t it may be a good idea so they direct feedback can be given that the person). Ordinary I wouldn’t bat an eye. However given the restaurants’ pricing, its service should be appropriately matched.

The exclusivity and private bungalow per guest was very nicely laid out. With golf buggy’s available to take you around the property 24/7. Along with the beds in the rooms are so comfy, and to wake up to the birdlife is such a nice way to start your days. Really wish my partner and I had’ve booked longer to make the most of the whole Port Douglas area with so many tours/experiences & day trips on offer.

Bungalow facilities & amenities are not the greatest given the price you’re paying to stay (no bathroom fan, shower really struggled to be anything other than hot or ice cold water and nothing inbetween. No bathroom air freshener or hand soap left in bathroom. Zero space in bar fridge to put your own items etc. TV is tiny and not in the eye line of the bed or furniture (seems to be more decorative than functional). Seems to be very minimal in the rooms for a place that tries to keep guests on property for majority of their time, but could invest more into the guests rooms. In saying that, I believe the rooms were still satisfactory and didn’t take away from the experience at all.

Thala Beach is a gorgeous property—the bar, restaurant, and main pool are especially well situated. The bungalow was spacious and well laid out. The porters were incredibly helpful and kind—our bungalow had steep, uneven stairs and we had heavy bags! All of the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and thoughtful.

These are minor points — but a few things did annoy me. This is a 5 star property, but the hair dryer is tethered to the bathroom wall just as in any cheap motel. It’s a terrible dryer, too, and the cord is so short that it’s awkward and uncomfortable to use. And supposedly this is an eco lodge, but they’re still using plastic mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc rather than large refillable containers. Finally, the bed, while comfortable, was weirdly unstable. Any time we moved around, even slightly, the mattress would undulate so much that we were constantly waking each other up. I did not sleep particularly well while staying here.

This place is a real gem & well worth it, the staff at the resort cannot do enough for you on the golf carts running you about & making your stay as comfortable as possible, oak beach is spectacular & a secluded oasis, loved the hammocks. Osprey restaurant is a delight & once again the staff are brilliant. The tree houses are so special & luxurious, i just wish I could have stayed longer

As above, wish I could have stayed longer & genuinely felt sad leaving

Location, care for the environment in how the resort was developed and is managed. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Perfect for a relax.

Dinner was very average to not good, although the entre special was good. Especially for the price. Didn’t want to eat there again and ate in Port Douglas the rest of the time.

Accommodation was great, pool was deep and very clean. Pre-dinner drinks with a magnificent view over Oak beach with a cocktail in hand was perfect. Surrounding walks and beaches were beautiful and inspiring.

Lack of seasonal fruit, we were in FNQ but not a pineapple, papaya, banana in sight. We sourced our fruit from the local markets. Portions for dinner were small. Cocktail menu in need of a lift and perhaps a cocktail of the day, or a happy hour to capitalize on that magnificent view. Slightest sign of rain and staff close blinds in the bar area blocking the beautiful view. We ordered Granola for breakfast but Muesli arrived instead with little fresh fruit, contrary to the breakfast menu. Unfortunately we decided to eat out once for dinner and twice for breakfast.

This was an incredibly beautiful and soul-soothing place to stay. The decades of work the owner has put into rehabilitating this area is inspiring. The grounds were gorgeous, the cabin was beautiful (and we had one of the less expensive ones), the bed was comfortable and the staff were amazing. The restaurant was just gorgeous with a beautiful view. We saw some wallabies whilst walking around the property and plenty of what my husband now refers to as "reef chickens" building their mounds. I loved that there was a bit of a breeze there. The property is up a little higher than some areas around there.

Although the restaurant was gorgeous and we enjoyed breakfast and a drink there in the afternoon, the lunch and dinner menu didn't include too many appealing options. We would have loved to eat there more often but struggled to find food that wasn't over-embellished, for want of a better term. Everything seemed to include some weird ingredient. For example there was gnocci, but it had black garlic and onions and some kind of apple sauce, and not much else. Why not just a lovely tomato based sauce, which is how gnocci should be prepared? We were lucky we had a car and could go to Port Douglas to eat. We also self catered a couple of times.

Lovely size rooms and bathrooms, great buggy service to get around and a beautiful beach with loungers and hammocks.

The rock pool doesn't have towels available so then requires a hike to reception. The main pool is lovely but not really set up for loungers as there are to many slopes.

I have been receiving chemo and as a result was feeling so queasy I was unable to eat in the dining room. The lovely chef and other staff members were able to provide some food to our cabin. We were able to enjoy the view from our cabin and make the most of things. Mind you the view from the restaurant was beautiful so go if you can.

The heat got me - but it is tropical Queensland so it was supposed to be warm. I was surprised how cool the cabins were with the shutters open and the air flowing through the room.
