Motel is easy to find and well sign posted. On a main road but very little road noise at night. Large room, well appointed with a desk and comfy chairs to sit and relax. Bed is on the small side and a little soft for my liking but my husband slept well. I like the sealed tub with all the crockery and cutlery and biscuits. Shower pressure was good and lots of hot water. Motel was fully booked both nights we were there. Being pet friendly is a big bonus especially so many people are travelling with their pets now.

Loved the quiet air cond. Kept the room warm in very cool conditions. Staff had room pre-warmed on arrival which was greatly appreciated. Motel was very full but couldn't hear other guests or the use of facilities. Was much better than I expected for the price. Had desk and even an office chair. I was in Mt Gambier supporting someone in hospital. This was the perfect home base so close to hospital.

Bathroom reminded me of home ... could do with an upgrade, but plenty of hot water and good shower.

Lovely owners and can tell family orientated and cultural. Always felt home away from home and highlight is the room itself, very spacious so when travelling with children and its cold out there’s room for the little ones to stretch and play while Netflix free for guests is on or YouTube etc chilling having a cuppa and the traffic noise is quiet mostly. Not far from city centre even if you walked. Beautiful stay regardless of your budget. Peace and calmness overall.

Nil negative to comment on

We were travelling with our Border Collie and it isn’t easy to find appropriate accommodation. Mount Gambia Motel provided us with a big room, every amenity we could have needed, and at a very reasonable price. The motel is old but the room was clean and comfortable. There is a big lawn at the back, a pool, trampoline and clothesline. I really couldn’t fault it. We will certainly go again.

There was nothing to dislike.

Shaded area within pool enclosure would be a bonus, maybe a shaded, sitting area with chairs/table to enjoy more of the outdoor grassy area.

Dog friendly and clean

The pool area was just awful. No shade at all broken chairs and fence. It is basically a whole at the end of the carpark. It has a grassy area around the outside with a broken trampoline but, the place is dog friendly so, why not add a fence across the front of the grassed area for dog play. It could be so much better with just a little effort .

Room needs updating, floors curtains, bathroom. Limit dog access, our room had dog damage to doors. Used by visiting workers, as seen by vehicles therefore a lot of 2.30am activity. No nice outdoor seating or tables even closer to pool. You do get what you pay for.

Spacious room for 2pp, with sofa and coffee table. Not far from city centre.

Soundproof issue. whenever next room turn on tap water or shower, we know. Because very loud. Water temperature issue during shower, hot a while, cold a while, hot cold hot cold. Not comfortable. Second person did not encounter water temperature issue. Could be timing issue.

We loved the great value for money. The comfortable bed, the kitchen, the toaster, the microwave, tea and coffee with biscuits. Location was great too. Hand held shower.

The TV was screwed up and couldn't be turned or moved so we couldn't watch the DVDs we brought with us or the computer that had an HDMI out which we were hoping to plug into the TV. We had to watch the boring TV channels with pathetic ads. Luckily enough we were able to perch our laptop precariously on an empty box. But that was the only thing wrong with the visit. We made do. Poor little us boohoo 😢 🤩 #BrucesPlanet

With the rate I was paying and some rather negative reviews I was not expecting much, but my room was quite large, well lit and spotlessly clean. The bed mattress and pillows really suited me. The bathroom was on the small side but typical of the era and by no means the smallest I've experienced. The shower however was quite large and I really enjoyed the plentiful hot water and hand nozzle with adjustable jets. The TV received all local SA channels as well as many from Victoria. Wifi worked throughout the stay and usage was not limited.

Minor niggle as I could have just run the aircon overnight - The bed was made up with only a sheet and lightweight quilt (it is almost summer after all) but the weather was quite cold and wet. The spare blanket in the wardrobe was thin and very small (single size?). An electric blanket was fitted to the bed but not connected, with the controllers, cords and plugs hidden between the mattress and base and taking quite some effort to retrieve and connect.
