The best part is that you can use the kitchen on ground floor That saves you a lot of headache (especially as we are vegetarian) Spacious rooms Location was amazing (2-3 mins from bus stop) You can take bus 150 for hallstat from nearby bus stop so you don't have to go to Salzburg HBF

They charged 4-6 Euro just to keep your luggage That's too much as compared to other properties this is anyways very costly

Breakfast was okay.

There should have been more than one outlet for each bed. There is always something that needs charging. There should have been dark curtains in front of and between each bed in order to secure privacy and to avoid being disturbed by your neighbours lamp when you try to sleep.

From the start of planning our Salzburg-trip, I was drawn to the Meininger Hotel. Yes, it is outside the Altstadt, but the location is perfectly situated on a few convenient bus-routes, or even walking distance from the Neustadt-area (Schloss Mirabell and Salzburg Hauptbahnhof). Staff were really welcoming and helpful, did their utmost best to meet our needs - see note below. Our Twin-room excelled our expectations! Very spacious, spottless clean, comfortable beds and crisp linen. Room 327 being at the end of a very long (beautifully Mozart-carpeted) corridor, was super quiet and had a good view of the mountainside. We really want to mention the Continental breakfast served as part of our booking - it was OUTSTANDING! So much more than we had expected, thank you! We can recommend The Meininger Hotel with confidence!

We did know that the rooms were not equipped with a kettle and crockery. If so, that would have put the cherry-on-top for us. You had to go fetch boiling water from an available kitchen next to the dining-area at ground level. We had the impression that there was a small kitchen on each level. Luckily, as I have mentioned, the staff were absolute considerate and supplied us with coffee mugs, glasses, teaspoons, and a few necessary items. Thank you for that!

It's close to the city center (15 minutes walk) and the most important for us was that they had a safe place in garage for our bicycles. Staff is very kind and helpful and everything is clean and comfortable. This will be our choice again if we come to Salzburg.

The hotel is also a hostel, so it has laundry facilities (which, although complicated, we used). The rooms are spacious and had, in our case, a private balcony with lovely views. The beds were comfortable. We didn't use the buffet. The hotel is not really walking distance to downtown, but the staff were so helpful in advising which bus to take, AND they provide a free bus pass! Taking the bus was super-easy and worked well for us.

The air conditioner was not working very well, so the room was hot. We could open the door to the patio, but unfortunately our first night someone nearby was smoking pot (even though this is forbidden) and it smelled horrible. Until they quit there was no sleeping. The room was only superficially cleaned; we found pieces of corn chips, etc. in the room. However, the next two nights were fine.

Good location, next to bus stop with good connectivity to all main locations. The hotel has a guest kitchen which has all self service facilities including a washing machine and drier. Kids loved playing pool and Foose ball in the lounge.. Definitely value for money. On request the hotel.sent me a guest pass on email which can be used for free commute on public transport and also facilitated advance checkin free of charge.. Definitely value for money especially when travelling with family..

The room was not done up when we checked in, though we had checked in early... But they did it pronto when they noticed the slip up

Location is excellent, near a train station. Good wifi, parking spots in front of the hotel, supermarket in the same building, a few restaurants close-by.

Breakfast was quite expensive for what it offered, next time we will eat in the city for the same price. Also the customer's kitchen was dirty, didn't feel like cooking there. During the weekend quite a few clients got drunk and started knocking on our door at 3 AM, so keep in mind that reception is 2 floors below the rooms, and no one stops the party goers from disturbing the guests.

Great value for money. I booked a 4-bed mixed room, which had a private shower room and a private toilet room, shared only among the 4 beds. That's a lot of privacy for a hostel price! The only cons of the bathrooms being inside the bedroom is that if someone poops a lot, it could stink up the entire bedroom......... ^^|| All the bunk beds were made of wood and good quality. Bed is very comfortable, maybe a bit of memory foam too. All the heating in the bedroom and bathrooms are adjustable. Outside the room, everything is hotel grade - nice hallways, very good quality breakfast (at extra cost), large spacious lobby to relax in. Drinks can be ordered from the bar. Very convenient location to catch all the buses to town or to the mountains.

There could have been more places to hang clothes and towels. I didn't have anywhere to hang my used bath towel, or clothes to dry/ventilate before folding away. They do change the towels everyday though. Shared kitchen could be improved by a lot. It gets quite messy around meal time. There's no one to look after it regularly and clean it after meal time. There were an assortment of dirty dish towels but no clean ones. There seemed to be only pots the size that cooks for 5 people, not smaller pots.

The staff were all very helpful. The location is good, close to a train line, buses and an easy walk to the old town. Plenty of supermarkets close by. Really nice touch having a movie playing in the living area.

The kitchen is tiny and the washing facilities are right in the middle of the kitchen. For such a large hotel, the kitchen and laundry facilities are way too small. We have found that with all of the Meininger hotels we have stayed at. The breakfast was more expensive than other Meininger places we have stayed however the food options were poorer and a lot less. Would recommend skipping breakfast here.

I had the pleasure of spending one night at MEININGER Hotel Salzburg and it was great. The hotel was impeccably clean, tidy, warm, and cozy, making my stay very comfortable. The view from my window was absolutely breathtaking, which added a magical touch to the experience. One unique feature to note is the glass-walled elevators—something to be aware of if you have a fear of heights, like I do. Despite this, the overall design and ambiance of the hotel were delightful. The staff were exceptional—friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. I want to particularly thank the lovely lady who encouraged me to visit Hallstatt and provided me with clear, detailed directions. Her kindness and enthusiasm made my trip even more memorable.

Maybe evening entertainment would be a great addition to the stay.
