It's a unique and comfortable place to stay - very different than an average hotel. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the space because they obviously thought about the details of the design. The hosts are also friendly and helpful. I was very comfortable in a single room. The mattress was firm and and I slept well each night. There was air conditioning, but I didn't need it. The bathroom is definitely different and probably isn't for everyone. But once I read the instructions and experimented with the water temperature, it worked perfectly for me. The breakfasts were a highlight for me. I decided to skip the morning sessions of a conference so I could relax and enjoy each morning I was there. The food was delicious - fresh eggs from the chickens on the premises, a selection of yummy cheeses, fresh homemade bread, fresh fruit, homemade granola, fresh grape juices, freshly brewed coffee, etc. I wish I'd had time to enjoy the outdoor terrace and other amenities. I hope to return again.

The hotel is easily accessible through public transport and is located at central location. The establishment has a very cosy and welcoming energy. The owners - Erwin and Daniela were very helpful and pleasent. The breakfast is not a grand bouquet of varied cuisines, but everyday a specially curated dish is served. Freshly baked rye bread, butter from the alps, home-grown honey, fruit jam, seasonal fruits, cherry tomatoes, grape juice, and a curated collection of green tea & coffee is available everyday. It was lovely to interact with other guests on the breakfast table. Daniela was exceptionally helpful in suggesting some authentic Viennese activities to make my trip even more memorable.

From walking in the door and being greeted by Danielle and Herman we knew that we had made the right choice . If you want something a bit different this is the place for you. Nothing corporate here ! You have the personal touch from Daniella and Maria who went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and rwlaxed .Enjoyed the food and drink on offer most of which was home made 🙂.The room was a one off.Different ,quirky and comfy. The bed is the best I've ever slept in ! The room was obviously designed with love . No TV but that added to the atmosphere . We felt so relaxed and slept very well. 10 -15 mun walk from the main station and 5 mins walk to a main tram station which took us everywhere we needed to be.Couple of bars and lots of shops near the tram station. We had a wonderful time and didn't want to leave .We would definitely stay again if back in Vienna

The design and concept of the place are truly unique and thoughtful. The bed was large and extremely comfortable, and everything was spotless and well-maintained. Breakfast was simple yet absolutely delicious—just right. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming.

Honestly, I loved the overall concept and the story behind it. The charm lies in its simplicity and authenticity. It’s a deeply inspiring place where sustainability isn’t just a feature—it’s clearly a heartfelt mission.

Breakfast is amazing (yet simple, mind you; which is a good thing).

For me it's all good, but it makes sense to realize it's not your regular chain hotel. You spend a lot of time and water to adjust the temperature of the shower, so this may be a bit counterproductive. You have to read the descriptions carefully, not everyone likes to stomp on a rough grid when showering etc.

It is an enjoyable experience with the soul in place. Some might find it lacks convenience in facilities (just a few, usual for big hotels and not needed here), but it is functional, and hospitality characterizes this place. And breakfast is certainly worth mentioning, as it is made from fresh products that owners use in their product business. I recommend trying for people who like places with their own unique vibe.

From the outside, you wouldn’t guess how interesting and creative a place this is. If you are looking for unique, natural, reasonably priced but high quality accommodation in Vienna, look no further. It’s walking distance from the central railway station and there’s a metro stop nearby. Public transport in Vienna is so cheap & easy to get around. The architect designed rooms are rustic and industrial but luxurious at the same time - from the super comfortable bed, double sink / dressing area & gowns to the multi-function toilet with heated seat! We didn’t use the pool or sauna but it was a great space. We did enjoy the hammocks though with a beer or two, surrounded by plants and vegetables, hens, beehives and vinegar barrels and just soaked up the unique atmosphere. The breakfast, cooked by Steffi, was simple and high quality with the best ingredients, including home-made bread and delicious crispy bacon omelette made with eggs from the resident hens. Do a web search for the Gegenbauer origins, in particular Erwin - from pickle factory inheritor to master of vinegar and much much more. It’s a fascinating story. You will see him busying about in the production area and shop as well as his lovely wife Daniela, who is equally talented and so kind, accommodating and keen to give you all the information you need to make your stay a memorable one. They both speak excellent English and other languages. We have just returned from travelling round Europe for 3 months and this was the most unusual, relaxed, friendly and memorable place we stayed in.

Only that we didn’t stay longer!

The breakfast was delicious, mainly of organic, local and environmental friendly ingredients; the bread is homemade and fresh. It is a very unusual, well thought through sustainable family business in a factory. As a guest you are actually invited to be part of the family if you care to engage. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the friendliness and I felt very much at home. Chickens live in the roof garden which is created with recycled barrels from the factory; the industrial look of the rooms combined with organic and industrial materials, the rough, ecologically, forward thinking architecture are magnificent. Living in this place felt like connecting with your essential needs; natural food, a small sauna and pool, a kitchen with a big table shared with the guests and interesting conversations. Passing bye I would have never expected a magic place like this behind an ordinary façade of a refurbished canning factory. Also interesting is that the space has become an organically organised living and working space as there is still an active vinegar production and a shop integrated in a property which goes back generations. It shows a way forward how to live sustainably in an urban environment. Apart from being a fascinating place it is also good for sightseeing - it is a 10 minutes walk to the Underground - which takes you to the city centre in 10 minutes and allows to connect with architecture new and old, art and music and cultural events. If you love nature - Vienna Woods are only 30 minutes away from the centre and many other possibilities available - just ask the owners how to avoid the tourist trap!

Only little things - and I am sure the owners are interested in that as well! In my room (single) I missed a small table and a comfy chair to read in. Also, being a 72 year old I found the self switching off lights on the stairs good but the intervals too short to get to the top, especially when I was not familiar with the place when arrived. But that's about it really. If you are in need of a lift you ought to contact the owners in advance.

Wonderful hotel, close to the hauptbahnhof, metro, and tram stops, with interesting rooms, lovely staff, and a nice pool. The shop is fascinating too, with all sorts of unique oils and vinegars. Our room was spotless, very quiet, and well air-conditioned despite the 36° weather! The team were friendly, put on a lovely breakfast, offered useful advice, and were very accommodating of our late arrival. One of the nicest stays we've had, and somewhere we look forward to staying again.

Nothing, our stay was as close to perfect as humanly possible.

This is a unique place with an incredibly kind and helpful host. I really appreciated her tip about using Tram D to get around the city... it was a direct connection to the Hauptbanhoff and the Belvedere, it went approximately halfway around the ring, and was much more pleasant and scenic than taking the metro.

I'm not very tall or agile, so I found the bed in my single room uncomfortable to get in and out of. But this small detail wouldn't discourage me from staying here again. :)
