The aesthetics of the room was very immersive. We were greeted with iced tea at check in which was refreshing. The lobby and gardens are very pretty.
There were clearly several decisions made in the room design that favored aesthetics over practicality. For example, there are no towel hooks near the sinks or the shower. There is no window cover in the bathroom and no door between the bathroom and bedroom, so the room was very bright when the sun was out. The staff was quite friendly, but insulted the way my husband and I were dressed since we were dressed casually (shorts, t-shirt, and hiking shoes) at breakfast. There was a miscommunication between the staff at breakfast which also lead to my husband and I getting no service for a prolonged period of time. For as highly rated as this hotel was, these were issues that were not within my expected level of service and comfort.

Incredible!!! Amazing, lovely, historically, fancy & luxurious Hotel in the heart of Bruges! it was our first time to experience such stay. this was the home of the Notary of Bruges and it was converted to this great hotel just couple of months back! unforgettable experience started once reaching the hotel as the great staff immediately get our car slot just in front of the hotel, and stored our luggage our room immediately. check in was the easiest and the fastest. They toured us in the cozy hotel space to explain each room function and the history of each spot. Coffee room is charming and relaxing, the Notary office is converted now to dinning room, and many other staff they explained. Hotel entrance, Dinning Hall and Coffee & Relaxing Salon were very luxurious & relaxing, and the outside garden area is just amazing. Our room, Gustave De Molinari was charming! Very warm, comfy, classy & took us back to 19th century with the latest 21st century state of the art Hotel room automation system! Bathroom & toilet are just amazing, classic & Royal! Food experience is completely different than other hotels, and it simply meets the theme of the classical luxurious hotel! Staff are amazing, friendly & very helpful, and I’m specially thanking Stef, the front desk manager for everything presented to make our stay great. He also guided us to make our trip perfect in Bruges and extended his advice to cover many other places! Thomas & Marnik: many many thanks from the family for the exceptional experience and please keep the great efforts and sure your Lovely hotel will be in a very short time the new land mark of the adorable Bruges!!
Nothing went wrong.. everything was Perfect!

This is a very special case. I have reviewed hundreds of hotels in recent years. Some were bad, some were good and some were wonderful. This hotel (which I don't think the word hotel fits at all) is alone high on its own level.. This is a real paradise and many more will be discussed in the future about this amazing “finca”and piece of art art established in the heart of the city of Bruges (which in my opinion is perhaps the most beautiful city in the world) This impeccably managed hotel deserves all the rave reviews. I am not interested in going into details in order not to spoil the surprise for the visitors, but I will refer to the owners of the place who are simply people from another galaxy. The level of awareness of the service here doesn’t exist almost anywhere in the world. Bruges has been waiting a long time for a hotel of this magnitude and this city definitely deserves a hotel of this level If you are romantic, in love, alone, happy, depressed, Experiencing relationship problems sad or need a burst of energy and creativity in life, then just book a super room here.. and at least 3 nights.. When you get back to your routine you may think about this place a lot..
They created a bar of expectations that is difficult to replicate Other hotels are expected to suffer from the rating in the future ;)

For the first time in Bruges...and what a stay it was! Check-in was smooth and welcoming. We were received by manager of operations Els, who immediately made us feel at home. The welcome included an elegant refreshment in the lounge, while our luggage was taken to the room straight away. An instant feeling of serenity and relaxation. The Notary is a feast for the eyes. The amount of detail is incredible! The more you look, the more unbelievable workmanship you notice. We booked the Bohemian Suite. Again, our eyes were immediately wowed by the impressive suite, filled with all kinds of detail! Our room was spacious, beautifully crafted, warmly decorated and aroused curiosity about what else there is to discover in The Notary. To enter the bathroom, is to enter a dream. Copper taps, an authentic bathtub and a crackling fireplace. You could literally spend all day in this oasis of luxury and tranquillity. This is, undoubtedly, the most luxurious room and hotel we have ever stayed in. The way the suites are decorated exceeds all expectations! No impersonal hotel feel in The Notary, but the feeling of being a royal visitor in the center of Bruges. The location is phenomenal. You step right into the heart of Bruges as soon as you leave the hotel. The Notary also spoils you on the culinary front. Breakfast is lavish and balanced with just the right amount of sweet and savory. No less than having breakfast like a royal. In the evening, a menu with an explosion of flavors was presented. The menu was bold with a traditional touch. Every dish was surprising. Taste, presentation and enjoyment were paramount! Nothing can't be done at The Notary. The service is impeccable, heartfelt and always available. The only disappointment is that we didn't book a longer trip to The Notary. We will definitely return and are already dreaming of our next stay in the lavish, over the top hotel in the heart of Bruges. Every other hotel visit will not be the same after this experience.

From the welcoming reception with champagne to the large suite with a cosy fireplace and large bathtub, this was a wonderful experience. The attention to detail with design and decorations in this boutique manor is on another level, definitely compared to standard (larger) hotels. The butler breakfast in their "Palm Court" was exquisite and a fine end to our short trip to Bruges. This small hotel is a true hidden gem.
As the hotel only just opened its doors, the sauna and spa were not yet open. We were told that they plan the opening by Easter. An extra reason to come back!

Very elegant design, unique experience - for sure not an usual 5 star hotel. Great service, very good breakfast. Garden is beautiful by the water and there is even a hot tub!
Although it is an elegant, high quality hotel, I believe it is still a bit overpriced. Our fireplace did not work in the room which was disappointing. Soundproofing could have been better as I could hear the cars passing too easily...

Dream stay! The breakfast exceeded my expectations, very tasty and pleasant to eat. Staff were very friendly and professional, you can clearly see their passion for hospitality! Keep up the good work! Room is very luxurious, clean and great value for money! Location was perfect! The shopping street is a 5-minute walk away, so for me it was perfect! I will definitely come back!

A boutique hotel should have time to take care of its customers, and The Notary excelled in this area. We were welcomed by the excellent Charles, whose splendid service set the tone for our stay, with his personal recommendations for which landmarks and restaurants to visit. We followed these and he was spot on. Our room was Bohemian in style - perhaps a little dark in the bathroom, but undoubtedly very cool. The highlight dinner of our trip was in the hotel restaurant where Kurt, the adorable chef prepares wonderful food. He will personalize his signature menus given a day's notice and we highly recommend this spectacular experience. the location is easy walking distance to all the highlights of Bruges.
The pillows are square, which creates an unusual sleeping experience; we discovered they don't have rectangular pillows. Not a deal breaker. The state of the art tablet which controls lighting, temperature and audio is not intuitive e.g. every time we returned to the room, it switched on the fire in the bathroom. Not a deal breaker either.

When I arrived, I immediately fell in love with the authenticity of the hotel and the excellent location in de center of Bruges. Concerning the interior, everything looked just perfect! I felt like a princess in a castle. I had a kind welcome with a warm drink. The staff was incredibly friendly. When I entered my room, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and character of the room. The bathroom was the most luxurious I had ever seen. The owners thought of every single detail to create a unique atmosphere and that is just wonderful. I am an incredible fan of the classy fragrance they use in the hotel! I had the best breakfast ever at the Notary and I really appreciate that they work with an à la carte menu. I am just so grateful for my experience here, I will definitely come back!
I didn't like it when I had to leave.
