I had a wonderful night's stay at the Sofia Balkan Palace. As a young woman travelling alone, I was made to feel very safe and comfortable at this hotel. The concierge staff were attentive and friendly, as were the bar staff. I mentioned on my booking that I was celebrating my 30th birthday, so when my room was ready, I was informed by the lovely Anastasiya that my booking had been upgraded to a junior suite and I was gifted a bottle of champagne and some macarons. I felt really special and it made my evening. The room was beautiful, as was the rest of the hotel, and the extremely comfortable bed provided me with a wonderful night's sleep that was much needed after a week of skiing! I couldn't recommend this hotel more and I will definitely be back.

Hotel was in a great location. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Bar was excellent with very attentive staff serving good quality food and all at reasonable prices. Guest relations manager and the reception team were exceptional and would always work really hard to rectify any faults, most of which were down to errant housekeeping services.

Housekeeping services were dreadful, room not cleaned on occasions, coffee, tea and water not topped up, bathroom not serviced, towels removed and not replaced and if you wanted a lie in and put up your do not disturb sign this seemed to prompt them to wake you up by entering the room at 0830 hours.

I recently stayed at Hotel Sofia Balkan Palace, and it was a fantastic experience. Everything was perfect, from the elegant ambiance to the superb location right in the heart of Sofia. The hotel’s staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. The service was top-notch, and the comfort and amenities exceeded my expectations. If I visit Sofia again, I will definitely stay here. Highly recommended!

There was nothing to dislike! Everything was perfect—great location, excellent service, and friendly staff. I’ll definitely stay here again!

The location The building itself, decoration, style The friendly staff The breakfast buffet The hotel is located in a very central spot of the city with a metro station just outside of the building. Out of the window, and in walking distance of 1-5 minutes you can find the archaeological ruins from ancient Sofia, the cathedral Sveta Nedelja and a Mosque, among other things. The staff of the hotel is super friendly, special shoutout to Anastasia who greeted us. Our reservation process was executed by a trainee who made a very professional impression. Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. The whole atmosphere is luxurious and elegant. The breakfast is delightful, specially the sautéed tomatoes. The rooms are very clean and stylish to the last detail. For example the aromas they use and the Clarins soaps and lotions create the feeling of wellness without even leaving the room. About 15 minutes walking distance to the east you arrive at the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Sofia's most beloved landmark. To sum up, the whole experience was incredible, considering the price. It exceeded my expectations in every manner possible and makes me want to come back to Sofia to stay here again.

Maybe the lack of parking availability

Staff were brilliant and very welcoming. Housekeeping was done multiple times a day which is far better than other hotels. Plenty of water available for trips during the week and as it was our first time there we got complimentary breakfast which is very good to attract customers back. Location was superb and finding places for dinner and sweet treats etc was no problem. Bed was a bit fidgety but that's nothing as it was very comfortable. Was very kind of them to have a note for me saying happy birthday and the red wine that was given. Shower was brilliant too and lovely after a long day especially after trips. Overall, would definitely choose this hotel if coming back and glad I picked a very good one in this hotel.

My wife and I booked the room at the Balkan Palace for my birthday. I don't think I advertised it to the staff, but we received a free bottle of sparkling wine. We checked in a little early and then went to lunch and ran some errands. When we got back to the hotel 2hrs later we discovered a bottle of sparkling wine on ice with chocolate tarts and macaroons in the room. It was such a pleasant surprise that at first we really didn't believe it was for us, but after checking with the staff we found it was. The room was nice and spacious with a balcony that had great views of the streets below. The bed was nice and comfortable and we enjoyed our time at the Balkan Palace. The breakfast bar was amazing with so many options to choose from. Coffee served was top of the line and very good. We highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

Everything was perfect!!

this is now our regular hotel when we travel in that direction the room has everything it has a very sophisticated feel to it olde worldy love the artwork in the corridoors and the breakfast is amazing especially for a vegetarian they even had fresh grapefruit nothing is too much trouble we ordered this time room service as the restaurant where we dined that evening was not sufficient - i am pleased to say the toasted sandwich and salad and chips was excellent next time we will use there restaurant labels the only issue we had was the telephone we had a problem getting through to room service so we phoned up reception that put us through and she arrived with the plate on a trolley with a cover over it the hotel just keeps getting better

It is rated as a top notch hotel, and it is. Everyone was very lovely. The room was beautiful and well presented, everything was clean and well ordered. Great bathroom The breakfast was superb. No noise, no problems. It was just a single night this time, but I'd be happy to spend more time there in future. Excellent hotel, definitely one of the best you'll find in Sofia. Book with confidence. Oh, nice bar as well. You can pop in there for a coffee or tea when you like, and they do an excellent ranger of cocktails if you pop in of an afternoon or evening

All was good

We have stayed in many places over the years, but this hotel was one of the best and excellent value for money. From arrival to check out, the service was excellent. We also received an unexpected upgrade which was a nice surprise. Any question was not a problem, and assistance was always offered with professionalism and a smile. The rooms and facilities were top class with everything you need and more. I can't forget to mention breakfast for the food options and quality and the service from the staff, again first class. Also, the location is fantastic. With the metro station line from the airport on your doorstep and right at the top of the main boulevard. Thank you to everyone for making our stay a memorable experience.

Nothing really, and if you did not like something, the staff would rectify it with a smile.

Everything was perfect. The hotel is right at the centre of the city. My husband and I arrived at 3pm and the room was ready. The staff was very very friendly. It was my name day and they have even organised a surprise for me in my room. The special touch made our stay even more pleasurable. We booked a deluxe double room. It was very spacious and light. There was great variety of food for breakfast. All staff at the hotel and the restaurant were extremely professional. We had a great time. Thank you very much.
