Cleanliness, friendly staff, value, location is awesome in the heart of the Arts District. So many venues, restaurants, etc. to choose from. A great breakfast place, a sort 5-minute walk away. Grocery stores and fruit vendors close by as well.

I recommend that they consider getting a rubber mat for inside the tub to avoid people slipping. High step to get leg over and yourself into the tub. I was traveling with my nephew, and he came up with the idea of wetting a small towel in the tub to keep from slipping. You may want to bring your own mat. At 74 it is still a pain in the butt getting into the tub to shower. Unless you're an invalid the inconvenience is well worth the trade-off for value, cleanliness, friendliness, and location.

Great location. Friendly staff. Very clean facility. Great value. Awesome breakfast restaurant 5 minute walk. Area very walkable to restaurants, bars, shopping, Prado Museum (must see/ hope I am spelling correctly), enormous park with peacocks & activities, blues club, Naval Museum. So much to do in walking distance. Basically in the heart of the arts district. Take a bus tour.

Could be a bit noisy when several bars close, one early morning especially). Not Tokio's fault. The bathroom tub/shower was a bit difficult to get in (have to lift leg a bit high). It is what it is. One suggestion would be to have a rubber mat that can be put in tub to avoid slippage. We used small towel in tub, wet it, and it did the trick.

Great value little hotel in a great location just off Grand via. Had a nice cafe/bar on corner. small shop aswell. Also close to a nice little square with various restaurants and bars. Staff were lovely and rooms basic but clean and had everthing we needed for a week. good shower and air con. comfy beds. They allowed us to leave bags on last day. Would go back anytime.

A kettle & tea coffee in room would have been good. There was some street noise on Fri & Sat night but it was fine still slept well. They could do with better signage outside as it is on second floor so tricky to find

The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. There was daily cleaning as well. The location was the best part, a few steps from Gran Via and an array of attractions and subway stations. We did most of our sightseein on foot. Also, despite being so close to the action, the bedroom wasn't noisy at night. We stayed almost a week and felt comfortable and at home. I totally recommend this hostal.

The bathroom was tiny, very difficult to move around in there. There was a "bathtub" which was completely unnecessary, it only interferred with the mobility in the shower. The water took very long to heat and sometimes it would get cold mid shower.

This is my third or fourth stay at the Hostal Tokio. The location is perfect with a short walk to two different Metro lines, several Markets, bakeries, restaurants, etc. They provide a nice basket of toiletries, the showers are nice pressure, and the staff are very kind, especially the young translator ;) The neighborhood (Malasana) is considered "hip" now, which means lots of options for food, music, bars.

The only advice I can give is to get an interior room on the weekends if you can- the street below can be very noisy all night long (downside of hip neighborhood). The retractable noise and light barriers are helpful, but my interior room was very quiet, as opposed to my friend's room overlooking the street.

Polite & efficient staff. Room/facilities were very clean & the A/C worked very well. Some toiletries included. Very centrally located which was ideal

WiFi worked well but was a little slow & would occasionally cut out & take time to reconnect. Rooms advertised as having a patio/balcony but we were given an inward facing room however we didn’t mind. Could also do with some new towels as the ones provided were a little rough rather than soft

Cheap rooms in an old building in the heart of Madrid. Our room was quite large and relatively well-equipped for the price—but don't expect a fridge. We had daily cleaning, and it was done well. They also supplied bathing accessories, even toothbrushes with tooth creams.

There is no noise insulation, and you can take it literally. Also, there is a nightclub a few meters away. You should only come here if you can tolerate all kinds of noises or are happy to use earplugs. The bathroom is very small but still functional, provided you have the agility. Wifi not great.

The check in and check out process were both smooth. The room was clean and i liked that the fact that it contained its own private toilet & bathroom in the same room. The staff was friendly and I felt welcome. To add it the property is easily accessible by metro Granvia and Tribunal. There are also bus services that are available in the area. In addition, it is centrally located and one has access to various shops and eateries.

Nothing to dislike it was amazing

The location is close to the main street and has good connections with metro. Good neighborhood, lovely brunch places nearby, even variety of suvenire and boardgaming shops. They always kept it super clean, and even though we didn't speak Spanish, we were greeted nicely. All recommendations!

Location is really amazing walking distance to Gran Via. The room was comfortable enough and despite seeing talking about loud noises, my room was pretty quiet (double windows perhaps?). The room and private bathroom were nice and clean.

The bed could have been a bit more comfortable, it sunk as I would lie down on it. The safe did not work so I had to carry my valuables with me during the day. I don't mind the light from outside but the window shutters did not function / got stuck.
