The first exceptional thing about Hostal Palacios is it's location. It's in the heart of downtown. In a blink of an eye you can visit any landmark by walking. Everything is close to you: the metro station, the bus stop, the shops, the bars, the markets, the restaurants, EVERYTHING. The second one is its staff. The receptionist, Paula, is so kind and willing to help you all the time. The third thing is that the room is very neat and clean. And it smells so good. It is worthy to stay there if you visit Madrid. The Wi-Fi is very fast. I would give 5 stars to this Hostal. Highly recommend it. I'd like to come back

My stay here was excellent. The staff was super friendly, location was perfect and the bathroom was clean. It was right next to Puerta del Sol, so I was literally a few steps from everything, restaurants, shops, fast food places, you name it. I will definitively stay there next time I have to visit Madrid to work.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like. Everything was good, nice place, clean, right in the center of Madrid, perfect for my stay. Next time I will book there again.

Staff is very friendly and everything works smoothly (room is unbeatably good for the price, wifi works reliably and is fast, fridge in the room, the shower has a good water pressure). Whenever I needed something, someone was at the reception ready to help, also there is always fresh cooled water available in the lobby. Friendly atmosphere.

LOCATION: really central, with lots of stores around and great connections with public transport. Even though it was in the city center, the noise from the street is not a problem in the room.

SHOWER SPACE: really small. It can barely fit 1 person. LIFT NOT WORKING: when we were there the lift was not working and our room was in the second floor, it was a bit of an issue to carry heavy luggage up stairs.

For the price, the hotel really deserves 5 stars. In the center of the city, rooms with aircon, I had a room on the street side but didn't hear much noise, same from neighbors, room and bathroom always clean, nice lady at the front desk, good pillows, space in the room, towels&soap (not always provided in hostels)... I really don't have much to complain about and I'm French.

The bed was a bit too soft, that's my only critic. On small improvements, in the summer it would have been great to have a mini fridge (or a commun one) to keep drinks. A code at the entrance would be great cause the door was often left open, unless it was your check-in of course, and you had no idea how to get in xD It is good that there's so many people going in and out.

The location is amazing. Although very central, my room had a window to a back court and therefore was very calm. I slept with open windows several nights and nothing disturbed my sleep. The staff is extraordinarily helpful. They gave me advice where to buy certain things and helped me orienting in the city. Also I had a fridge in my room and a TV. Internet worked perfectly (unlike in many other accomodations in Madrid)

Amazing location. Friendly and helpful staff (limited English, but Google Translate worked great). They hold luggage after checkout (1€/bag).

A little noise from the street, but didn’t keep me from falling asleep and didn’t wake me up. I didn’t realize I needed to go up to first floor to check-in. A contact number available via WhatsApp would have been useful (other than just the Booking.com messages).

Great location !! Very close to the grand via and a couple of metro stations. Situated on a busy shopping street it was quiet inside the building.With older charm on the back streets we were able to walk to many interesting sights. Such as the palace and the Museum of contemporary art. The heating and hot water were piping hot.

No kettle or cups in the room.

Always happy to stay in this wonderful hostel, perfectly located in de Calle de Fuencarral, full of fashionable shops and close to our all time favourite tapas bar (Orio) but also conveniently located to all the cool areas both sides of the Gran Via. Even the Rastro is easily by foot and you have 2 underground stations near to bring you to the airport or other parts of Madrid. Also both Plaza de Espana and the Prado are in normal walking distance if you're not too lazy. This was our 4th visit (but the 1st time via Booking) and it is for us "La Primera" address when we visit Madrid. By the way: it was 44° C, so it is an extra plus the room has airco!

Nothing bad about the hostel, but you are of course in Spain and the Spanish are definitely not good at whispering. Also there is a good lot of nightlife (daylife too) in the Malasana area and people going home will often take the Calle de Fuencarral, so if you want quiet nights only, better move to the outskirts (and miss out all the vibrant life of course :-)

Best location, best staff and have elevator access. Most of the sightseeing places are within 1 Km radius. Ms Paola is very kind and excellent service provider though she can't speak in English. I'll love to stay there again.
