I think Hostal America is an excellent place to stay in Madrid. It doesn't provide breakfast, but otherwise it's a hotel, not a hostel. My room had a fully equipped and well working bathroom. (Some cheaper rooms seem to have a shared bathroom on the corridor.) For breakfast there are a few nice cafes just around the corner. The street where Hostal America is on is mainly a busy pedestrian street — no noise from cars — with lots of restaurants, but no noisy nightclubs — at least I didn't hear any noise coming from anywhere. The front desk (on the 5th floor) is always open. The location is perfect, within walking distance of all major museums and other such sites in Madrid. It's easy to get there from airport, since the closest bus stop of the airport bus (203) is nearby. The room that I had was quiet, comfortable and kept very clean (daily cleaning). The views from windows were into a courtyard, nothing to see there, but on the other hand, absolutely no noise even though I had windows partly open through the night. I stayed in it for a week and liked it a lot.

All about the room and Hostal is good, i try to stay here everytime that i travel to Madrid. About Location, it's perfect if you want to stay in Citycenter and go by walk or Metro/Bus to anywhere. I recommend absolutelly, but, sure, it's not a 5 stars Hotel, but for sure it's perfect combination between price and tourism achieves. Kind regards to the Staff! Pablo from Chile.

Maybe sometimes the noises between rooms is a little uncomfortable. But is happens rarely.

The place is fabulous. Perfect space for 2 people, eventually small family I think can find themselves there as well. The place is really very cosy. The landlady is very friendly and open for any help. I was feeling much more than just like a client. About the car park, there is just stones field road, but we could park on the accommodation possession. There are few shops and one very close to the place we stayed. Also, there are a lot of full year attractions around. At the end they are mountains and there are plenty of places for winter games fans as well as hikers how love mountain hiking.

The only small thing I can say is a small boiler which is enough for men party group but for girls, with long shower needs, I am afraid is little below expectations. However, the landlady provides jacuzzi and this is other form for showering ;)

Great little hostal with very helpful and friendly staff. The beds are comfortable and the rooms tidy and very reasonably size. It has an outdoor terrace where you can sit and have a red wine or drink and take in the Madrid sunshine or moonlight. It is a good location close to the Gran Via and Puerta del Sol. Highly recommended.

The rooms could use a fridge but they have a communal one that can be used.

Spent 1 night there as our flight was a late one to madrid..hostal very close to metro..tabac shop directed us..it was just on the road next door on the 3rd floor I think.. Very nice girl on reception and a vending machine with cold drinks for around a euro.. Went out for supper and found a great place on the next street with cerveza and mexican food that stayed open late. Great terrace where you can have a drink and a cigarette at the hostal but mind the step!!!

Nothing..it was fine as a stopover..

The location is fantastic, the receiption is on 5th floor and prem occupies rooms on 5th and 4th with an old but very efficient lift. The staff are great and the owner is charming. The prem is very clean.

The room was small with traditional Hostal low star rating, old furniture and little frills. My room was at the road which is noisy being a tourist bar/club zone. Fitted with security screen which filters the noise a little.

The location was amazing, very close to Gran Via. The staff were always so kind. Check in and check out process was very easy. The room was very clean, including the sheets and bathroom.

There was a little noise. During the day there was drilling noises which I didn't mind as I spent very little time in the room. But at night I think as the walls are a little thin you can hear other people talking which was not pleasent.

Good location , close to restaurants and bars. There was a lift up to reception and check in was good. The room was clean and WiFi worked well. It was also very quiet considering that it was close to the lift. I did like the area outside the reception where you could sit and look down into the street. It's a basic hotel but it's adequate and clean and cheap.

I think the matress could be changed as it was like sleeping in a bathtub. The room was very small with just enough room to squeeze around the bed and hardly any space for our luggage. There was no remote control provided for the air conditioner but we opened the window when it got a bit stuffy.

The staff were friendly and welcoming the rooftop balcony is a huge bonus and is in a great location

Was a LITTLE pricey, and xould have probably got somewhere better for the same price a little further out if you don't mind travelling but other than that all good!

The lady at the reception was really nice, smiley and helpful :) The location of the hostal is really great, we liked this are so much! There is a terrass for common use, we had our breakfasts there at the morning :) Good value for money, we were satisfied with the stay.

We liked our stay. On the other hand, with little investment they could make a change: - a small fridge, even not private but common use for 3 rooms - coat hangers on the wall/door (tiny room, space could be used smart) But anyway it was ok, I recommend to stay here
