Staff are thoughtful and great. The place is amazing looking, especially given its location near Liverpool St. Design and look of the place are gorgeous. Great to be able to order tasty breakfast by just leaving a hanger on the door.

Sometimes aesthetics have taken precedence over functionality. The tap nozzles in my bathroom were located separately from the sink and the tap itself didn't really stick out into the sink - both made it weird to use. Breakfast is served in the rooms, which isn't really my preference. Also slightly surprised given the general oldschool British vibe of the hotel that there as no cooked breakfast on the menu!

The location is very good with lots of places to eat nearby and the hotel was nice and quiet. The hotel team are extremely helpful and on hand at all times and nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed the decor and ambience.

The hotel is lovely and unique. The service was good but the only thing that was a slight let down was the value for money of the stay and not sure it is really a five star property having stayed at five star properties - although as stated the team were very helpful so the service was probably five star, just not the property. Also when I checked in I was told we had received a complimentary upgrade but we hadn’t. We were in the room I had booked - I had done the upgrade myself through booking .com weeks before our stay and was charged the correct rate. So this then felt a little disappointing as had let the team know it was a special occasion. When I queried the team confirmed it was as per my original booking and no I hadn’t been given an upgrade.

We had the pleasure of staying in what is undoubtedly one of the hotel’s finest rooms—a beautifully appointed suite with a separate living room on the lower level, offering both space and charm. The location is simply unbeatable, nestled right in the centre of London, yet it felt like a tranquil retreat thanks to a private terrace and a thoughtfully maintained garden brimming with potted flowers and greenery. The room was elegantly styled, with all modern amenities cleverly concealed to preserve the hotel's historic character. From the shower fittings to the antique-style furniture, every detail reflected tasteful restoration and care. It truly felt like staying in a piece of history with all the comforts of modern hospitality. This hotel is a hidden gem that we’d happily return to—perfect for those who appreciate charm, location, and attention to detail.

We were very pleased with all aspects of our stay—the service, cleanliness, and overall comfort were excellent. The only minor downside was the room temperature on what happened to be an unseasonably warm night in London. The in-room A/C was not functioning optimally, and while a freestanding fan/cooler was provided, it struggled to cool the space and was a little noisy for my liking. That said, this was a rare weather event and didn’t detract significantly from an otherwise enjoyable experience

Great location, easy to find. A short walk from Liverpool St Station - Perfect for exploring a number of locations. Wonderful welcome, and a really tasty breakfast, total flexibility on time and size of order. Breakfast was good value for money with quality products. Liked the little touches such as supplying delicious biscuits with the tea. The shower was a great way to start before heading out into London for the day.

Being picky now as we really enjoyed our stay but the room was very warm and we found altering the temperature beyond our means. This is on us as I’m sure if we had mentioned it the team would have sorted it. Not under the hotels control but we had guests return to their room near ours in the early hours, making a lot of noise which woke us up. Other than that we had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

We arrived earlier than expected, the room was not ready but we were made most welcome, and offered refreshments in one of there resting rooms. When we checked in we were upgraded, the room didn't disappoint in any way, this is not our first visit or last, the staff could not be more helpful if they tried, we arrived back after the first night and ordered a pot of tea for two at the desk when we came in and we only just beat them back to the room, we only ordered breakfast for our second morning and it arrived at the time arranged (you eat in your room), the food we ordered could not have been better and set us up or the day. The hotel is situated 2 minutes walk from Spitalfields Market, we walked everywhere as you see more of the city but, with cabs, buses and underground all local, getting about the city is easy and fast. We stop here as a treat to ourselves because we are made to feel special and spoilt.

We should have booked for longer.

The team were very welcoming and helped put my luggage in my room as I was in a rush & they got it out when I was in a rush the next day . You really felt the team were trying to help you meet your work commitments . We are always running these days with very little time and too much on our minds They even had a spare toothbrush ! Very comfortable bed in a beautifully decorated room The snacks were fun & original The breakfast was delicious & on time ! The bathroom was particularly good and there was a lot of space which helps to relax in the morning and evening . Very comfortable bed

I liked everything . In the end it is a lot of money for one night but u did feel very restored and my stay was a pleasure end to end so in a frantic world the hotel provided real peace & pleasure .

Lovely boutique hotel, great staff, amazing room and good breakfast.

The breakfast was absolutely lovely. The staff could not have done enough to make my husband's 40th birthday special. The terrace was incredible, as was the location. We enjoyed exploring the market and it was easily accessible for our plans for the theatre etc. Probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in the world. Also very reasonable prices for drinks and breakfast etc.

The secret toilet was not working behind the bookcase but that wasn't an issue for us.

1. The atmosphere is superb, you will feel transported to another time 2. Beautiful, beautiful hotel. So many intricate details everywhere 3. Exceptional level of service. I was never made to feel i was bothering anyone, infact gentleman at the reception was kind enough to open the library for me to sit in after he heard he trying the handle 4. Ideal location to explore shoreditch, spitalfields market, bricklane etc 5. The bread basket is so good! Must try for breakfast

1. The only thing was that the shower had lukewarm water not hot probably because of old plumbing.

The peace and quiet of the location and hotel, despite it being really close to the busy Spitalfields market area. Everything was really tasteful and thoughtful. The history of the building is fascinating and there is some humour in how this is played out within the building.

It is an expensive stay and it would be better if breakfast was included as part of the price. Having said that, I understand how the price affects the overall offer and probably enables it to retain the calm and peace of the place so a tricky balance to strike. You get what you pay for I guess!
