Amazing hotel. One of the best I've ever stayed in. The lobby was the inspiration for the red hall in Spirited Away apparently. The room was fantastic. And the fact it had a steam room in the room!! Amazing.

The fact that they didn't have easily identifiable vegan options at breakfast and in the restaurants. To be honest probably I could have managed to find something if I really had to but I enquired at booking and was pointed to Happy Cow (which I used anyway) and there was no offer to adapt breakfast or meals and prepare a vegan meal like I've had in other hotels I've stayed in in Japan. So I just had breakfast and meals elsewhere.

Everything was brilliant. It was so worth it for us to include breakfast - so many choices. Property was spotless. Wonderful staff. Beautiful hotel. Very close to Meguro station, which is on the Yamanote line, so very easy to reach other areas. Steam room was a lovely extra. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

Not so much an issue with the hotel but - very steep hill leading to the hotel which is a bit difficult with luggage. Again, very short journey between the station and the hotel, so this did not present a massive issue for us. The hotel does have a bus running from the hotel to the station but within specific hours.

We loved everything about this hotel. The hotel staff are amazing from start to finish. We had the Japanese style room which was a joy to stay in, it had a separate sitting room with traditional seating area, the beds were comfortable. The bathroom had a jet bath, shower and sauna. The toilet was totally separate to the bathroom. We had a garden on our balcony. Really recommend this experience. Do the hotel art tour. You see closed off parts of the hotel and the historic art pieces as well as the banquet and wedding ceremony rooms with a fantastic tour guide. Great breakfast with the most variety I've seen in any hotel in Japan. We ate at the cafe and Chinese restaurant, the atmosphere and food was wonderful.

The suites are very generous. The bed extremely comfortable. The bathroom was a mini spa. Lots of personal items were renewed daily. We liked the traditional Japanese feel of the hotel. It was especially lovely to see so many ladies in their kimonos

There was not enough drawer or wardrobe space for a long term stay. Fine for a couple of nights but not a 12 day stay. The breakfast was a bit challenging for a my usual preferences and the bread pastry section was very disappointing in a city that has the most amazing bakeries. The executive lounge was an added bonus but is not very relaxing after a long day. It definitely needs some comfy chairs and sofas. It is very formal and there is no other area to relax in the evening.

Everything was amaazing! As it was our honeymoon, we´ve received a surprise in our room, the room was everything, sauna, bad, shower, jacuzzi, bed was huge, lounge, breakfast, our tea room, just wow and amazing, and the hotel/staff itself was wow. the JR station was only 5 min walk from the hotel. It was the perfect ending of our honeymoon

We loved our stay at Gajoen. We arrived very early and were able to leave our luggage very easily which was then delivered to our room upon check-in. The staff was so courteous and nice to us, we felt very well taken care off. The room itself was lovely. Spacious and comfortable. For our first night in Tokyo after a long flight it was great to sleep in the very comfy bed. The bathroom was the star however. The jet bathtub had a beautiful view of the city and the steam sauna was great to use. Complimentary skin care products were also provided so we had a spa night. The breakfast in the morning was lovely. So many foods to try, both hot and cold and from many cuisines, both Asian and western. It set us up for the whole day. The hotel itself is beautiful and worth a visit on its own. The waterfall is spectacular and the art all around the hotel is lovely to look at. Some mornings they have an art tour of the hotel, and I highly recommend going on one if you stay at the hotel and they have them in the morning. It was very interesting and you got to see areas and art in the hotel you wouldn't have otherwise. It's in a quite area but easy to get to from Meguro station and then you have the Meguro River close by that you can walk by which has loads of cherry blossom trees. They weren’t in bloom when we were there but could definitely see the potential. Also, a good walk up the river you have the Naka Meguro area, Ebisu and Daikanyama were you have lots of cool restaurants, shops and bars. I can also recommend the Metropolitan Teien Art Museum which is close and has a beautiful garden, not to mention the house and exhibitions themselves.

I have no complaints and would love to stay again

5 star hotel, service, amenities, attention to detail, decor, location, breakfast/food. We stayed with our 3 year old son, the doors splitting bedroom from living room with a bed was so clutch and light proof. In room sauna and jet tub were welcomed after long day. Spacious rooms meant lots of hide and seek games + comfort. Staff went above and beyond everywhere we went. Beautiful view of Meguro river and city. The breakfast spread in terms of options and quality were top notch. My 3 year old said he wanted to stay here forever - I concur! We've been to other Small Luxury Hotel brands and this one stands out.

The location is very convenient. It’s just a 5 minute walk from the Meguro station. The hotel is located right next to the Meguro river so your morning runs are convenient and picturesque. The hotel is beautifully decorated. With 2500 antique crafts and ornaments, it is like staying in a museum! The hotel tour itself takes 90 minutes. The rooms are huge. For Tokyo standards, you’ll be hard pressed to find another hotel with such spacious rooms

The hotel doesn’t have its own gym, but you can use a fitness centre nearby for free. But this is just a minor inconvenience.

Even more amazing than the photos. Everything is beautiful and service is excellent. The suite was extremely spacious and fit the 3 of us. Get the executive plan to enjoy the amazing lounge offerings. The hotel is a short walk to the Yamamoto line and 1-2 stops from all the main tourist sites. Meguro is a beautiful quiet neighborhood on the river with many restaurants and shops with more of a local and non-touristy vibe. 10/10 look forward to staying again.
