The location is very good. There was a 7-Eleven convenience store and a cafe nearby, which was, well, very convenient. The train station Gotanda is also close to the hotel, which made our day trips easy to organise. Overall, a good value for money and fairly close to our favourite destinations within the city. We did not book breakfast, but the hotel has a coffee machine in the lobby, and we made good use of it.
There were some problems with the bathroom, so some in our group had to move to a different room. The view from one of the rooms (a single room) was towards the roof with an air conditioner in front of the window.

This is my second year in a row coming to Japan and Tokyu Stay Gotanda once again being a main hotel for my near 4 week holiday. I’m not the type of person that needs to stay within popular places such as Shibuya, Ginza or Asakusa. Tokyu Stay Gotanda is located pretty much a minute walk from Gotanda station where you can get the Yamanote Line. The Yamanote line is one of the most popular train lines for first timers to Tokyo as in does a clock wise and anti clockwise route of Tokyo’s more popular wards. You can also use the Asakusa line to get to Senso-Ji or get off at the last stop which is conveniently Tokyo Skytree. I also found Gontanda station to be very easily accessible from both Narita and Haneda airport. From Narita just take the Narita Express to Shinagawa station and transfer to the Yamanote line and get off on the 2nd stop. From Haneda just take the Monorail to Hamamatsuchō station then again transfer onto the Yamanote line and get off on the 5th stop. With that being said. Based off my time in Gotanda I guess you can consider Gotanda is a working ward. You wouldn’t see many tourists here. It will get busy during normal rush hours such as 8-9am when people start work. 11:30-1pm when people have lunch. 3-6ish pm when students and workers finish work. There is also a lot of places to eat in Gotanda. From what I can gather most workers tend to finish work, eat in Gotanda then head off home. So if you’re not into crowds much like me then avoid transportation during those times and maybe avoid eating lunch or dinner around those times because most places will be busy. But still Gotanda is a very nice place. In terms of the hotel itself. It’s nothing too fancy which I have no problems either. The room itself isn’t actually that small and is pretty spacious for Tokyo standards. The main selling point for me for Tokyu Stay is that you have access to your own 2 in 1 washer/dryer. This allowed me to doing laundry whenever I wanted to.
It’s not a deal breaker but the 2 in 1 washer/dryer takes a long time to dry your clothes. You’re looking at maybe a 4 hour dry cycle to get 2 days worth of laundry dry. The duvet cover was strangely too big for the duvet itself which lead to the duvet shifting around at night which was pretty frustrating. Again nothing was a deal breaker for me. Would I stay again? Absolutely!

It was a great location, a short walk to the metro and also around the corner from don quijote, a supermarket and lots of food places. Gotanda is fairly quiet compared to visiting Shinjuku and other areas. It was nice to come back to our hotel after long days and not be dealing with crowds. As it is on the yamamote line, it was very easy and fast to visit all the top tourist areas. It uses the Jonathan restaurant next door, which has an internal access, for breakfast. Very affordable with a hotel meal ticket and unlimited refills. Western and Japanese options. It also has robot service which the kids enjoyed
At night it was a little seedy around the back streets, with some strip bars.

Well located near Gotanda Station with step-free access at selected exits. Restaurants, pharmacies, and convenience stores within walking distance. Also a short walk to Don Quijote. We liked the washing machine (also doubles as a tumble dryer) which also came with liquid laundry detergent, and that we could loan electronic devices from the front desk (e.g. ionic hair dryer, hair straightener). Daily housekeeping involved a towel replacement and re-lining of bins, which is sufficient as the rooms are generally small. Check-in and check-out was straightforward and quick. Hotel staff also helped us with storing our bags after check-out before our evening flight.
Our first room had mould at the sides of the bathtub and the shower curtain smelt of mildew. We were able to request for a room change (hotel staff was efficient in allowing us to do it immediately), but were fortunate that the hotel was not fully booked during our period of stay. Our replacement room had also a large patch on the carpet -- we could not tell if it was a stain or mould, but having already changed rooms, we decided to live with it.

Our family had 2 rooms and stayed for 5 days. Definitely it’s convenient, it’s juz nxt to 2 train line - The Yamanote Line & Asakusa Line Keisei Sakura. Remote easily to all cities and thru & fro airports. Staffs are friendly and helpful especially, able to converse in English we are foreigners n not able to speak Japanese. Hv arranged 2 large luggage fm our cities to Tokyu Stay Gotanda and hv arranged to place them in our hotel room way b4 we checked in. As we arranged early at noon there’re unable to check in and we placed our luggage at the conceige. And they hv them delivered to our rooms straight when we were bk in the evening Though one of our room’s toilet seems to choke on the fourth day, the staff actually provide another room’s key for us to use the toilet inside. 7 eleven, Lawson, small eateries & Donki juz along the street.
Too small and limited bigger rooms for small family

The Hotel is walking distance from the Gotanda train station, less crowded than other stations, a good supermarket near by. The rooms are small but well equipped with everything. They change towels and empty garbage cans at request, no daily housekeeping services. A washing / drying machine in the room is a plus. There is a coffee machine for good free coffee in the lobby. The hotel seems to be quite new and up to date. The staff is pleasant( no english fluency) but they have helpful attitude.
Not a single TV channel in English. This seems to be the case in all hotels in Japan (except at the airport)

This is my 2nd time staying in Gotanda area and first time staying at this hotel. Room size is bigger than expected. I love this area as it's not as busy like Shinjuku. Right beside the hotel there is a 7eleven and around the corner there is a Don Quijote that's open almost 24hrs :) There are lots of nice restaurants around the area and JR Yamanote and Asakusa Subway line if 5 mins away. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely consider staying here again in my next trip to Tokyo.
wish they offered buffet breakfast instead of menu type :) but selection wasn't too bad...

upgraded to a bigger room, which is worth the price. very spacious. I appreciate how there's a free washer/dryer in each room to use for convenience of washing clothes. The location is fantastic. Very close to the station and easy to walk to the hotel with big luggage. The staff were very nice and accommodating. They only do towel changing and garbage disposal daily which was fine with us. Location of the hotel too is nearby popular places like Harajuku and Shibuya just a few stops away on the train.
Overall it was clean but could use some additional cleaning such as cleaning the couch stains (i did not want to sit on it because of the very obvious stains on it), the walls were little grungy. Not many amenities selection in comparison to other hotels I've been to.

The location was amazing...so central and convenient for getting around the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and cozy, making this an excellent base for exploring Tokyo. The breakfast was nice, and there was a robot there delivering your tray, really interesting. I’d definitely stay here again
The breakfast was very good, but it was menu type and not serving, but it is a very personal preference and does not really affect the staying experience.

The area of Gotanda is a vibrant hub with lots of eating and shopping options. Train and metro within a 2 minute walk makes it easy to access Tokyo's other places of interest. Very clean rooms although not overly large but we were told this is the case in Japan. A great hotel if you're wanting to explore the city.
Not much to criticise really. Two of our group have some food allergies and the breakfast wasn't really suitable for them but that's an issue in most places in Japan re gluten and lactose intolerances.
