I absolutely loved this experience. This has to be my favorite trip so far! The highlight was definitely the majestic view of the Matterhorn, which was simply breathtaking. Another unforgettable part was the stargazing experience. It was phenomenal. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We had the chance to see Jupiter, Double Clusters (H Persei and X Persei), Mars, and Messier 13, and the most amazing part was that we saw a shooting star. The staff were also friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. My husband experienced some elevation sickness, but they provided great advice, which really helped. Surprisingly, the dessert from our dinner seemed to make him feel better, so he was able to enjoy the stargazing too. For dinner, we ate at Glacier Kitchen, where we had a “hotpot” meal. The food was pretty good, though we were a bit confused about the sauce (I guess we, as Asians, are used to a different type of sauce). But the staff were super helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. As for the facilities, they were okay. And sadly, Zoom was closed. Renovations are ongoing, too. I was hoping to find a spa for some relaxation, but given that the location is at the top of the alps, I guess it is not feasible. It would also be nice if they had a vending machine for hot beverage like hot chocolate especially since the weather is cold—it would be a great little touch for hotel guests. Overall, this stay was absolutely worth it. The hotel offers a peaceful and modest retreat at the top of the Alps, with a spectacular view that makes it all worthwhile.

You couldn’t get a better view than the one from our room - it was awesome! The room itself was lovely, very comfortable bed, good shower and stocked mini bar. The only reason to stay here is the view and tranquility - we had both in abundance. Breakfast was good.

Went to our room to find someone else already in there! No apology but given an alternative immediately. Dinner was difficult - no option at all and whilst nice quality, the food wasn’t to all tastes (salmon & caviar etc). Waiter (Spanish with nose piercing) was surly. There’s nowhere to get a drink after dinner, bar is closed at 7.30.

This is a hotel that you book when you want a unique experience and it certainly lives up to that!!! I only did one night which i think is plenty, if youre not used to high altitudes then recommend doing a couple nights in Zermatt first or take some tablets as you can feel abit rough if not adjusted. I like the half bored food option as you realise if it wasnt included there really are few places to go u less you're on a hike. Room had a brilliant view of the Matterhorn and I stayed in a fairly modest room option. Me and my girlfriend went star gazing at night outside and it was stunning! The staff ( receptionist in particular was really kind ).

The dinner included was a set menu, so if you dont like the Main course you might be abit disappointed. Didn't get much info at the hotel, for example we didnt understand if we could go a see the observatory as a guest. Yes paying so much for the train up there hurts but if you buy a return you can use it on the second day. Also good to hike down and take the train back up.

Our one-night stay in the Junior Suite at 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat was an unforgettable experience. The views from the room were absolutely breathtaking — with the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks right outside our window, it truly felt like being on top of the world. We arrived earlier than the official check-in time, but the staff went out of their way to prepare our room as quickly as possible. Their warm and accommodating attitude set the tone for the rest of our stay. The Junior Suite was spacious, beautifully furnished, and very comfortable. Thoughtful details and modern amenities made it easy to relax and enjoy the high alpine environment. We were a little concerned about the altitude at first, but it didn’t end up being a major issue for us. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent — well-prepared dishes with fresh ingredients and generous portions, served with unbeatable views. One of the most special parts of staying here was the peacefulness. After the last train left in the evening and before the first one arrived the next morning, the area felt quiet and almost private. With only a small number of hotel guests at Gornergrat, we were able to enjoy the scenery without the usual crowds. The entire experience was magical — from the views to the food to the exceptional service. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a once-in-a-lifetime mountain escape.

Just book it. The views of the Matterhorn each morning at dawn outside the room window made the price worth it. Dinner was excellent both nights, and the waiting staff were approachable and knew interesting options for hiking. In the evenings, look out for the wild mountain goats they attract near to the hotel with salt. The funicular ride up is exciting and when the sky is clear the experience cannot be beaten.

Everything was excellent. Though on my final morning, I needed to leave on the first funicular down the mountain, which departs at 7:35 before breakfast typically starts. I had asked if an early breakfast was possible, and they declined. However, when the morning came, I went down early anyway and discovered that they had actually set breakfast up early for a Japanese tour group. I was able to eat early and catch the first train, but I was surprised the tour group had been offered early breakfast and I had not. Though I understand not wanting to set up breakfast just for a single traveller, I do wish I had been told that an early breakfast that day was possible. But this is a small point - overall a magnificent experience.

Just wow. The views from around the hotel and from our windows were exceptional. The beds were comfortable. The room was a little warm and we needed to keep the windows open. It was quiet and serene. The dining room staff were exceptionally attentive and helpful in keeping me safe with my food allergies. Breakfast was great. Be aware though that at such a high altitude we were all a l8ttle short of breath with minimal exertion.would have loved to buy some souvenirs of our experience but all the shops were closed for renovations. Also no shops to buy food or snacks on the mountain. Come prepared if you don't have dinner included.

Unbelievably beautiful location on top of the Gornergrat, sweeping views, nature pure, super quiet and relaxing at night when the tourists have gone back down to Zermatt. Best stargazing ever from the viewpoint at night.

Just be aware that if a big snow storm hits in the winter, the Gornergrat Bahn might not run and then you are totally stuck up there in the hotel. Happened to us for 2 days. Bring a good book or some other entertainment and relax! The hotel provided a free lunch for the people trapped up there during those days.

Location location love it we were also lucky to get access to the telescope because a representative from university of Zurich was at the hotel that day and gave all hotel guest a free tour with opportunity to see planets and galaxies through the telescope. Appreciate the university and the person for this amazing experience

Little pricey but it’s worth it. They should make a deal with the Gornergrat railway for hotel guest to get unlimited travel from Zermatt to the hotel. Like a stay pass of course with the fix cost.

The Kulmhotel Gornergrat exceeded our expectations, but maybe not in the way you'd think. We visited the Gornergrat a few days before Christmas and had intended to ski during our stay. A totally random snow / wind storm hit Zermatt during our stay and we were literally completely snowed in to the hotel for 2 days (the Gornergratbahn was not running at all). This was the greatest blessing in disguise. The staff at the Gornergrat took the most amazing care of us and ensured we were comfortable, entertained, and well-fed. Our family spent the 2 days watching Christmas movies, drinking hot chocolate (a special chili hot chocolate courtesy of the staff!), and playing board games. What could have been a disaster turned into a surprise highlight. And, as the cherry on top, on our last day the sky opened up and we had the most stunning views of the Swiss alps and the Matterhorn. I would recommend this hotel and this team to anyone. Can't wait to go back again one day and remember the time we were snowed in. It's one of our favorite memories.
