What a lovely little hotel! The hosts were all really friendly and helpful - welcoming us with a coffee on arrival, happy to tell us about the local area and look after our luggage for the day on departure. Our room was petite and cosy and had a view on to the guest courtyard.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like! However, being English and enjoying a regular cuppa, I would have liked access to tea/coffee making facilities as there was a nice communal seating area/courtyard and it would have been lovely to relax with a cup of tea.

The Lady who greeted us was charming and so helpful, allowed us to put my husband’s medication in the fridge and then even better allowed us to have hot water to make English Tea!!! I would say there was nothing that we could have asked for, charming, polite and accessible. The parking was a little awkward, but only cost us 15 euros for the night and was underground so the car was safe. The hotel is perfectly situated to have a good look around La Rochelle and a wonderful meal was had at the harbour with lovely views and not too expensive, again highly recommended by our lovely lady (sorry I did not get her name!). We all decided if we could come back we will for further investigation of La Rochelle.

If I have to make a criticism it would be that the tap in our bathroom was very loose, the shower head would not stay in position and the toilet seat cover came off and perhaps a little bit of painting of the balcony would not be such a bad idea, but the hotel situation was wonderful.

I had a lovely clean room at the very top of the building, overlooking the street at the front and a museum opposite. The building itself is gorgeous with a grand staircase leading up from the hall. The man on Reception was so friendly and helpful and recommended a lovely area for restaurants in the evening. Great to be so close to the centre of town.

There was no electrical socket next to the bed and the one next to the window would not accommodate my UK adapter, so I had to charge my phone in the bathroom!

I loved this small family run hotel. Very quaint old school charm. Lovely courtyard / terrace space on the ground floor too. No a/c but I was there in a heatwave and the fan provided was fine. The electric window shutters helped too. Staff were so helpful, pleasant and accommodating. Dry much recommend - I hope to go back myself.

We had twin beds and for me the bed was a bit too small but I am used to super king size bed so that’s the reason but my friend loved it. No access to a fridge after the kitchen was closed

The location is absolutely perfect, set in the middle of the old quarter. 15 mins walk from the station. 1 minute walk to the splendid covered market. 5 mins to the lovely port. Great cafes, restaurants, shops everywhere. Nice big rooms, mine had a balcony onto a lovely courtyard. Nice communal areas for relaxing. The staff were delightful.

Old-fashioned, retro-styled hotel, don’t expect mod cons. This might put some off but I liked it.

The staff were genuinely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Plus the location was great and the street was reasonably quiet although it was very central

Difficult to say .. one disadvantage is that the building is very old but well maintained- but there is no lift.

Great location in the middle of the historic old town. Short walk to the port, the cathedral, and the Museum of the New World. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed Friendly staff Great value Neat vintage vibe Covered bike storage convenient to the lobby

The hotel was in a great location. The room was very spacious. I loved all the retro furnishing. Breakfast was great. Fresh croissants, all kinds of bread, pastries, eggs, cheese etc. Hot Chocolate from the machine was really good. All of the staff I met without exception were really friendly and helpful. I will be back

Next time I'll book a room with a balcony or outdoor seating area

The staff were so so lovely. Jessica was kind and attentive. The nicest hotelier I’ve met in all my journeys through France. Made me feel very welcome. I was stuck in France due to ATC strikes and felt at home.
