Great location very central to town. Cool decor - loved waking up on to the peaceful courtyard with murals of Jim Morrison! Staff at reception were friendly and helpful and very convenient to be able park on site. Prompt, thorough and accessible written communications prior to and following stay. Spotless room, virtually no city noise with exceptionally comfortable bed!

Bathroom small with insufficient shelf space to put toiletries. Shampoo bottle was empty when we arrived & not replaced during clean. When supplying coffee sachets for 2 guests there should surely be 2 each of standard & 2 of decaffeinated? Parking quite pricey on top of room rate but understand it's high season & certainly preferable to finding a public space!

The receptionist was exceptional as I had to walk 3 blocks to ask how to get there by car! She explained clearly, marking the route in and out on the map. She also answered all the other questions we had about the city. Excellent to be able to reserve a car park space next to the hotel. Good breakfast, however, as before, hotels need to be aware that people are allergic to cows milk products and supply alternative products for cereals, tea, and coffee. A clean room and comfortable bed apart from the shelf behind it.

I would have prefered a walk-in shower rather than stepping into the bath for a shower. I would allso have prefered side tables by the bed and a headboard rather than a shelf behind the bed.

Our room was very comfortable. Whilst there was no air conditioning, there was a fan in the room which was very welcome, given how hot it was in La Rochelle during our stay. The location was fantastic, in the old city and not too far from the port and harbour area. Whilst we had difficulty driving to the hotel, the directions provided by the hotel were excellent - we just needed to trust them rather than our sat-nav!! The hotel were able to provide parking on site too, which was a bonus.

Nothing to dislike. However, visitors need to be aware that there is no lift at this hotel.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a wonderful building in the Vieux Port district. I got a great discounted deal on a booking website but the standard prices seemed reasonable as well. Shower was good and Dyson airblade in the room was nice touch as it was a hot July at the tail end of the heatwave and no air con. Great buffet breakfast as well with a private courtyard of you wished to dine alfresco in the morning. Helpful and friendly staff who let me try my limited French but ready to step in with their great English!

Ideally situated in a quiet street but close to port, cafes & restaurants and local market. Loved all the pop art and memorabilia on the walls. The staff were very friendly and helpful; in fact, when we arrived by car in La Rochelle we couldn’t get to the hotel due to changing roadworks, despite following the direction instructions. As such, we had to park in a car park nearby and walk to the hotel but a member of staff came with me back to the car park to direct me back to the hotel car park.

Bedroom and en suite/shower were very small. There was also a strange smell in the room - not sure if it was from building work - which was a bit overpowering on entering. Kept the window open whilst we were there but closed it when we went out so smell was back when we returned.

Amazing experience, from start to finish. The hotel is very well decorated which alone is worth a visit. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The hotel is located close enough to the center of La Rochelle (5' walk) but conveniently distant to be quiet and tranquil. The private parking is a big plus in La Rochelle. The staff are all very kind and attentive. The breakfast was also a highlight - with fresh fruit and amazing local brioche (gache)! We loved La Rochelle and Hotel Francois 1er, we will certainly be back!

Nothing at all

Great location for exploring La Rochelle as only a short walk to the harbourside. The hotel was quirky, with friendly staff and a good breakfast.

We were a bit worried about parking, but we used the multi-storey nearby which worked well. Would advise booking a parking space at the hotel well in advance.

Hotel Froncois Premier is a very good Hotel in the center of La Rochelle. Very pleasant staff and confortable quiet room. We will not hesitate to stay here again

We did extend for one night our stay and we were charged more for the same room. This is because for the extra night we booked directly with the hotel and not booking . com, which at the time it gave us a discounted rate. This was not a big issue for us as we liked the Hotel.

In La Rochelle, a short walk away from the 'Towers'. Hotel is very much like a boutique hotel. Great wallpapers throughout etc.. It has a carpark £20 per night, it is next to the hotel and very secure, though a little tight. Breakfast was great for a cooked english breakfast but lacked the pastries, croissants. ham, cheese etc... for a continental breakfast. £12 pp. Staff very pleasant. Electric dyson fan in the bedroom. Safe in the room.

Only stayed one night, as far as i remember there wasn't a lift.

Parking on site, just reserve. This is a lovely hotel, in the centre of La Rochelle. It's furnished with modern, characterful art artefacts. The staff were very welcoming and smiley. Loved our stay there.

We were worried about the room temperature as no air conditioning. However fans were provided and they were modern and extremely efficient and we slept very well.
