Hotel de la Paix – Reims, France If you’re riding into Reims — on two wheels, four wheels, or sheer stubborn willpower — and you want a place that feels like you’ve earned it, the Hotel de la Paix is where you land. New, clean, and tucked just far enough off the main drag to be quiet, but close enough to the cathedral that you can stroll there before your coffee cools. There’s safe, underground garage parking — a blessing if your bike’s loaded like a pack mule and you’ve been eyeing every stranger like they might want your panniers. The manager himself met us at check-in. Not the bored smile-and-pass-you-a-key kind of welcome, but the genuine, “Glad you made it” kind. Rooms? The standard ones aren’t sprawling, but who cares? They’re spotless, the showers could wake the dead, and the air conditioning — while it likes to take a nap after a few hours — will keep you sane through the worst of a French summer. Breakfast is worth waking up for. Proper coffee, proper food. The courtyard out back is a small miracle: quiet, shaded, and the kind of place you’d happily linger over a second espresso while plotting your day. Two restaurants on site if you can’t be bothered to wander, but the neighborhood has plenty worth exploring. Reims itself is easy to get in and out of, which is saying something for a city with Champagne coursing through its veins. Motorcycle gear, travel dust, helmet hair — none of it matters here. You’re welcomed like an old friend. Next time I’m in Reims, I’m not “looking for accommodation.” I’m going back to the Hotel de la Paix.

We stayed here for a week and found it to be the ideal base for exploring the Champagne region. The location is fantastic, right in the city centre close to great restaurants and major attractions. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable seating area and a well designed dressing table. The beds were very comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. The hotel bar was a great bonus, offering a good selection of drinks in a relaxed, stylish setting. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the area!

Having arrived at the hotel on motorbikes with secure underground parking, we asked if it was possible to upgrade our room as the room we had booked was quite small. The Manager was extremely helpful and although the hotel was fully booked, we were able to pay for an upgrade to the only suite which was available which was stunning. The hotel location was perfect for restaurants and bars. We ate in the hotel on the first evening which was superb. All the staff we engaged with were very knowledgeable and helpful and went out of their way to help and advise. One of the best hotels we have stayed in - attention to detail is fabulous and I would highly recommend.

I don’t think I’ve stayed in a Best Western Hotel before, I wasn’t expecting much but the ambience, interior design and the wonder staff impressed us very much. The rooms and communal areas have been thoughtfully designed, the room was well appointed, great bathroom/shower room , designer fittings and good lighting design through, sofa/ bed and furniture and general comfort all exceptional. Underground on site Parking was very good, the bar and restaurant both good choice of menus with nice friendly staff. Reception staff and valet were all excellent. Great central location too.

The hotel is easy to find off the motorway and with its own car park and central location it was ideal. The Notre Dam cathedral is a 5 minute walk away and the seemingly car free city centre is a delight. The staff are all excellent and English speaking too. The bar area is very comfortable and relaxed and (not surprisingly) has a vast choice of champagne as well as the usual bar offerings.

The toilet is separate from the bathroom, which is fine per se but you have to go into the bathroom anyway to wash your hands as it doesn’t have its own sink

Great location - friendly staff in reception and restaurant. parking is convenient. Room is clean and tidy. Dinner was pleasant and wine was reasonably priced.

An iron in room would be useful. It would be helpful to be given the code to lower the bollard in the street, (to get to the parking) - before arrival. I sent a request via Booking.com but didn't receive a reply. That means you have to park in the street, blocking the road, walk into the hotel, then come back out again. Stressful after a long journey if other drivers are waiting.

Location in the centre of town, parking on site, pet allowed, fridge & safe in room, quiet room, really comfortable bed & pillows, separate toilet, swimming pool. Son & grandson enjoyed the variety at breakfast.

Being extremely picky, it’s common in hotels that the tea/coffee and bathroom supplies are great on day 1 but not fully topped up for a second night or further night’s stay & this hotel is no exception. Mood lighting is very attractive but as you get older being able to considerably brighten the room is really necessary to be able to see and this could be improved.

The room was comfortable and for the most part, clean. Location of the hotel was central and had a lot of options for dining and shopping. The hotel staff was proficient and responsive.

The cleaning staff needs to be a little more attentive to ensure the room is completely clean. We had to ask at the front desk to have the bathtub cleaned as there was a copious amount of hair left in the tub, along with dust. The bath tub probably had not been used in awhile and therefore did not receive any attention from the cleaning staff.

Location was perfect - easy reach of Cathedral, restaurants and other sights. Room was clean and comfortable, with a good bathroom and a fridge. Breakfast was good - we mostly had fruit salad, yoghurt, croissants, French bread and cheese. All staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. The pool was quite small, about 7.5m long, but not crowded, and open 7am to 10pm. Sauna was a good temperature, though not switched on when I visited at 7:20am.

The total bill was €1100 for 4 nights, including 3 x 2 breakfasts and city tax. This was as expected but, considering the price, the room was adequate size, not enormous. Noise from inner courtyard until around midnight. Separate toilet with no washbasin. Irritating anti-theft coathangers make it fiddly to hang up shirts etc. Hot breakfast didn't include hash browns, beans or tomatoes - but, to be fair, this is France not the USA.

The location is fantastic, 10 minute walk from Reims train station. 10 minutes to the Cathedral and just off the main strip for bars and restaurants. Staff are exception and super friendly. The bar and outside courtyard is beautiful. The pool is very nice and it was quiet the two times I used it. The sauna is well maintained and good quality. I would highly recommend.

My only slight niggles would be that the breakfast seemed overpriced at €20 pp for what was on offer. The quality was reasonable for all items and very good for some but the overall offering was a little limited with just a fee hot items. Breakfast is optional so we just opted for this once. Overall, an exceptional stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
