The hotel is in the best location. Next to petite France and the old town area. We were in room 4, after transfering out of room 14 as referenced below in the dislikes. Room 4 was bright and sunny with a large bathroom and seperate toilet. The room was very clean and quiet. Wera, the receptionist was very helpful in helping us move to a room that is accessible by elevator. Please note, there is only one elevator in the hotel and only part of the Hotel's rooms are accessible by elevator. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked very well.

We were originally given room 14, which was a room with two beds as we had reserved. Unfortunately, it was up two flights of narrow stairs. My wife injured her knee on the first day and it was too difficult to go up and down those stairs. Forturtunately, the hotel was able to accomadate a request to move to a room that can be reached by elevator.

The property and its location were both ideal - they put you right in the "center of it all" and made it easy to just walk to everywhere you wanted to see. The room was spacious and well appointed; if there was one little thing that could be called out was that the AC/heating that they have - and is still found in many hotels - is either on heat or AC and while we were there it was on heat. We finished up opening our windows which cooled off the room nicely but it was not entirely quiet in the evenings! Small price to pay from an ideal location and beautiful hotel. Also - be sure to try the spa!

While the location is ideal, it can be a challenge to find the hotel and drive there. It is located in a mostly-pedestrian area and when you get close to the hotel you'll need to contact them in order for them to allow access past the large metal posts in the road. Be patient and don't get frustrated and they'll walk you through it. The directions they provide are a little cryptic, but once you get to the Place St. Thomas, take a left down the street intersecting it until you reach the post and then ring the call button on the box. Their directions only get you to the Place St. Thomas so be sure to take the left!

This perfect little haven in the Petite France area of Strasbourg was an ideal base to explore this beautiful historic city. This renovated old building has everything - character, history, vintage furniture and modern facilities. We visited Strasbourg during the Christmas Market and while it was only a few minutes walk to the major market squares and the local restaurants, the immediate vicinity was pretty quiet - almost no vehicle traffic and just a few pedestrians, who mostly seemed to be taking their kids to the school opposite. We only saw one staff member (I’m sure there must be others) but he was very welcoming and informative, giving us good tips on where to go. We loved our room, which was very nicely furnished, but also had plenty of power points, a device charger on the desk and the most fantastic shower.

We booked without breakfast included. The on site price quoted at €25 per person per day, which we felt was a bit pricey. There many coffee shops nearby, where you can pick up two coffees and two croissants for around €10 - 15.

We had the best stay at Bouclier D’or! Our room was fantastic, from the comfortable bed to the spa tub, beautiful interior and design of the space. A lovely little salon, bar and courtyard offer room for a drink and relaxation. Despite being in the middle of town, it is completely quiet! The hotel is so charming, with kindest staff, especially Alexander who gave us some wonderful recommendations. The location is fantastic, everything easily accessible by foot. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

The facilities are very unique and feels like you’re at home. The lounge/living room is very unique and cozy. The room was big with a very comfortable bathroom. We loved the place and the location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Strasbourg is magical, unique, and lovely!

Check-in hour at 4:00 pm is the latest I’ve experienced, and I do travel a lot. They could at least offer you a call if the room is ready before that time so you can come earlier. This is something that many hotels with earlier check-in times have done at upper scale hotels. After a long flight or trip, that is a welcome and classy addition, done to us in Zurich.

This hotel was really lovely - we had a huge room on the top floor, with a fabulous bathroom, and some period furniture, everything was very clean and there were a couple of delicious chocolates left on the bedside table for us. What was really clever, however, was how the hotel have worked some great mod-cons into a beautiful old building: the curtains, for example, are heavy, classical curtains very much in keeping with the decor, but they have thinner, modern, proper blackout curtains hidden behind them, so we slept really well. The room cooling didn't appear to do anything when we turned it on, and yet 20 mins later the room was cool, so it was definitely working! The windows are in a traditional style, but are properly double-glazed, and they do open if you want fresh air. A real bonus was the bathroom - no bath, but a huge walk-in wetroom shower that is better described as an experience than merely a shower - it was amazing! Towels etc were all good, and robes and slippers also provided. Extra pillows were found in the huge wardrobe, along with a hairdryer etc, and the TV was unobtrusive but modern enough to cast to. It was a short stay and so we didn't have breakfast or try the spa, but I'm confident based on the bathroom that the spa would have been excellent. The hotel was a bit of a trek from the station,, but is ideally located for proximity to the oldest and nicest parts of Strasbourg and made exploring really easy. All the staff we spoke to were very helpful.

There was no lift - this is just because the building is old and there's no room for one, and to be fair to the hotel they did offer to take our cases up for us, but we did it ourselves in the end.

The location is perfect, once you drop off your car with the valet, you are everywhere within a few minutes of walking. The staff was incredible and had great recommendation for a absolutely amazing dinner and arranged the reservation. The room was awesome (top floor) with views on the historical parts of the city. It was perfectly clean, comfortable and quiet. The service at the outside bar was impecable, friendly and made the lounge in the courtyard a perfect relaxing experience. I can only highly recommend the hotel it was an awesome stay. We will be back.

Beautiful room. Good location in the old town - petit France. Lovely restored antique furniture. Large bathroom. Can’t comment on the spa facilities as I forgot my bathing costume , but you must pre book and pay to use them.

The room was warm even though the heating was turned off. We opened the window but there was a fair bit of street noise which disturbed us. Breakfast is a bit expensive at €25 per person but the food was of good quality and the breakfast room is pleasant and staff very attentive.

The property is unique. The building is very old and we stayed on the 4th floor. The views were so beautiful. Old rooftops. I felt like fiddler on the roof. Also I loved the breeze we got from being up high. The room was dated and upgraded at the same time. It’s a perfect vibe for the location in Old Town. It was close to basically everything. There was an elevator which was nice. I didn’t have time for the spa but I would have loved to check it out.

I didn’t get breakfast because it was pricy but that was okay. I got it elsewhere. Anais was great! But the other staff were not as friendly in my opinion. She gave us a map and great tips. When leaving, we received incorrect directions to the train station. It took over 20 minutes to get there. Pack light because cobblestones plus luggage can be tough!

The property and owners were absolutely lovely. Upon checking in I immediately extended my stay. I was assigned a very large corner room on the 2nd floor. The room had a beautiful parquet floor, antique furniture including a huge amoire, a chandelier and three large sound-proof windows which opened to a courtyard and village streets. The bathroom was also very large, had beautiful fixtures and had two bath robes, slippers and toiletries. The location is ideal for exploring Petit France and the rest of Strasbourg. There are many restaurants just around the corner near the Tanner’s house. The train station is a short 15 walk which was very convenient for a day trip to Colmar and my return to Paris. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and look forward to a return trip soon.
