Booked this hotel one year in advance for excellent location in city centre with underground carpark. Shortly before arrival we were warned that the hotel had suffered severe water damage resulting in the closure of the breakfast room, the lobby bar and the failure of the lift. We were offered the chance of free cancellation but with the assurance that we would be allocated a lower floor room we decided to keep the reservation. We were pleased that we did. The pre-visit briefings and the fantastic welcome from Sonya confirmed we were right. Andreas (manager), Sonya and Alex were amazing. They had worked round all the problems and were so impressive one could not criticise the temporary facilities. Timed slots for breakfast did not bother us and the breakfast provided was better than many hotels with full catering facilities. Our room was small but excellently fitted with quality fittings, comfortable bed and excellent shower/bathroom. All members of staff spoke perfect English, were incredibly friendly and coped with their handicaps with good humour and impressive service. If Hotel am Rathaus warn you of their limited facilities (hopefully to end by Aug 2025) and offer you the chance to cancel you will not regret retaining your reservation and you will be rewarded with warm service, helpfulness and the central position in the city centre.

My wife and I enjoyed our five-night stay at the Hotel am Rathaus. While our room was neither large nor contemporary in design, it was comfortable and well equipped. Moreover, the high-quality furnishings were in perfect condition. In addition, our room was quiet, the Wi-Fi and Internet access functioned well, and our room was properly serviced every day. For us, the location of the Hôtel was ideal. Not only is the hotel centrally placed and within walking distance of most attractions but it is also very near stops for three tram lines. Moreover, many restaurants and cafés can be easily reached on foot from the hotel.

The hotel does have a lift/elevator that works well, but persons with limited mobility might prefer to look elsewhere for rooms that are more spacious and less encumbered.

Located right in the city centre with easy tram connections to any non central sights. Secure car park, with lift to the hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast at a reasonable price. Very comfortable beds with good quality linen and soft towels. Fridge and lots of glasses in the room, ample storage space, extra pillows. Large enough desk for 2 people using laptops and 2 chairs (some hotels seem to think a double room only needs one chair!). Some reviews mentioned traffic noise from the cobbled street outside - we had no noise disruption with an excellent night's sleep despite having a room overlooking the road. We have already booked to stay again.

Like many hotels in Europe there are no coffee or tea making facilities in the room.

Excellent location - very central but quiet for sleeping, and comfortable rooms.

The person on the front desk was not very welcoming - perhaps they were having a bad day. Also the bike parking was not secured due to a problem with the garage door, which made us a little nervous (not sure if this was just a temporary issue).

Hotel is in the center just behind the Rathaus and close to the Infocentrum where the city tours start. The hotel is nice, and the breakfast quite good. It is necessary to book the garage. The staff was very nice and helpful. Also good restaurants are close.

The room was small but enough for a short stay.

Everything! The staff are amazing! Andy remembered us from last year! Our room was great! We got married while in Augsburg and the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne a small gift and a note of congratulations!

The hotel is in the best location. Everything in Augsburg is an easy walk away. Whilst the entry to the parking area is “interesting” to have secure parking under the hotel is a bonus. The room was small but very good. Alex at reception was so helpful, friendly and efficient.

Good central location. The hotel have an underground garage which is handy. We paid €13 a night there. Very good breakfast. We were worried that the church bells would ring all night, but luckily they are switched off at night!

The staff were very helpful. Our luggage was lost at the airport and they helped trying to track down information. The hotel is right next to the old town so perfectly positioned for Christmas Markets and visiting

There was construction on the streets surrounding the hotel so the taxi driver could not get very close

Location is exceptional, couldn`t be better. Room was clean and you could park in the underground garage and have an elevator to your room. Staff very friendly, breakfast good. Receptionist was so kind that let us have our car in the garage after check-out to have a walk around the old town. Very grateful!

The only weak point is the access into their underground garage as it is very narrow and therefore hard for SUV to enter. But we managed it, anyway.
