HOTEL: Though previous guests had complained that this hotel was noisy because you could hear other guests in the corridors, the corridors at the Meininger Berlin Mitte are now carpeted, and so noise is NOT a problem. ROOM/BEDS: We had a room towards the rear of the building which was also fairly quiet. The room was just big enough for 3 beds (so did not look as spacious as the room photos shown on the website), however the beds were comfortable and clean and the shower/toilet was very good. We knew we wouldn't be spending much time in our room, so a basic, small and affordable accommodation was very acceptable. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Adding 'Late Checkout' the evening before was also possible. LOCATION: This hotel is very well placed for accessing the public transport network; tram and S-Bahn are right outside the door. If you are happy to walk considerable distances, the Brandenburg Gate or Checkpoint Charlie or the remains of the Wall in the Bernauerstrasse are each 25-30 minutes walk away.

I would have liked more space in the room and for it to have been more similar to the room photos shown on booking.com. (You don't get to see your actual room until you arrive at the hotel.) As there is no air-con, you need to leave the windows open overnight. As there was nightly laughter and chatter coming up from the social area in the central courtyard, this was not ideal.

I had a decent overall experience—the staff was helpful and caring. The room was clean and satisfactory, and the Wi-Fi worked well. However, a major downside was the lack of air conditioning. With temperatures reaching around 36°C, the room became uncomfortably warm. Opening the windows wasn't a great solution either, as it let in a lot of noise, but there was no better option for ventilation. When we raised this issue during checkout, customer service mentioned that they could provide a fan. However, in my opinion, a fan doesn't help much when the room temperature is above 25°C. On the positive side, breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant staff deserves special mention. They offered plenty of vegetarian options and were very attentive. If the AC issue is addressed, I would definitely highly recommend this place, with current temperature soaring might be value for money.

The ventilation in the room is not adequate

I shared a female dorm and was pretty clean. The location is excellent, next to all public transport you need.

The staff could be a little bit more polite. Although the payment was made long before I arrived, there was an issue with THEIR bank and they couldn't see the payment. I was showing them proof from my bank account that the money was withdrawn by them but they didn't believe me. I wasted 2 hours or so (of course they didn't let me check in and go rest to my room) trying to communicate with my bank and sending them confirmation codes so they could check in with their bank. After it was proved that I was right and the payment had been made, I didn't even hear an apology for wasting my time given that I had a long travel and I just wanted to check in to my room and make myself comfortable.

This hotel has one of the best locations in Berlin. It's right next to a S-Bahn metro station and a Tram station, giving you the way to connect to the entire city in minutes. In fact, popular Alexander Platz is just five minutes away using the M5 Tram (just outside the hotel lobby), a place you can walk to if you like. Hotel offer you breakfast with an additional payment, anyway the location is surrounded by local restaurants, caffes and supermarket. You will have plenty of places to choose from. Staff is very friendly and will assist you in all your expectations and will help you get to your favorite tourist attractions.

Room has quite enough space, typical in all Europe. You will find the heater required for winter times but, there's no air conditioner. It wasn't strictly necessary but, in summer you would appreciate at least a ceiling fan or something to move fresh air. In fact, you will have to deal with the windows in order to do so. One night we experienced some cigarette odor coming from the outdoor terrace.

I've stayed in Meininger hostels before and they've always been good. The location is excellent - the Bundestag and Alexanderplatz are both within walking distance, but there's no need to walk if you don't want because there is a tram stop and S-bahn station right outside the front door - you can literally walk out of the door and onto a tram. We had a private room - it was clean, with a fair amount of space and a decent bathroom. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. We found the staff were friendly and helpful. I'd happily stay here again.

No air conditioning and it was very hot so we had to have the windows wide open which made it very noisy. Our room looked over the main road which didn't have much traffic but instead had lots of people (waiting for the tram?) who seemed to make an unreasonable amount of noise every night as we were trying to get to sleep. In my view it's misleading calling it a Hotel. It's a hostel...but a good one!

1. Location is perfect for exploring the city. An S-Bahn & tram station is right outside of the property or you can walk around to the tourist spots. 2. Good selection for breakfast. 3. Rooms may be accessed by lifts which is helpful in case you are carrying heavy luggages. 4. Staff are friendly. 5. Fortunate to have nice room mates during my stay.

I stayed in a 4-bed female dorm which was ensuite. Bath/Shower was generally clean but could use an intensive cleaning. Also, when the previous guests left some rubbish on the table it wasn't cleaned. Had to clean it up myself. Room was so hot so we had to open the windows but could hear the noise from the courtyard below, even when we are on the 4th floor. Poor noise cancellation as we can hear slamming doors and people talking along the corridors. I came at a time when there were several young students so maybe a bad time. Although, this could be avoided if the management quiet time policy during the night.

Direct access to train station, tram and easy to navigate ro Berlin's attractions. Breakfast is good and staff are well mannered. There is a vending machine near the front desk and restaurants are right bedside the hotel

Small rooms and blackout curtains does not serve it's purpose because it does not cover all the window. There is a big gap. It would have been better if the curtains are wider. A kettle would in the room would be better as I needed to drink hot tea at night.

Location is very good and convenient Room was big and clean and fairly cheap Staff was friendly and helpful

Bed was very basic, comfortable enough but substandard even for the cheap price of the room, the pillow were very slim and there was no extra pillow or duvet/blanket No kettle in the room or elsewhere in the hotel which is a must in any hotel nowadays, especially in cheap places where people can probably not afford daily €4 coffees or teas. Probably more an issue from Booking but the reservation said I'd pay at the hotel and instead I was charged directly on my credit card incurring exchanges fees.

The hostel is near to so many attractions, food hotspots, shopping and to have a tram stop on front of it is very convenient. Room is clean, spacious and well maintained. Free luggage storage is a lifesaver! Seperate toilet and bath in the room is also clever for a mixed-bed dormitory. Overall, I was a happy camper.

There seems to be a problem with the flush system on toilets coz for a while, even if you thoroughly flush, it would stink a bit. Just a minor issue but other than that it everything was still clean.
