I had an absolutely fantastic stay at a&o Hostel Düsseldorf! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and taken care of. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile — they made check-in quick and easy and offered great local tips for exploring the city. The location is unbeatable — just a short walk from the main station and close to the Altstadt and Königsallee. Perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and enjoying the nightlife! My room was spotlessly clean and well-organized, with fresh linens and a comfortable bed. The comfort level was way beyond what I expected from a hostel — very quiet at night, and I slept better than I do at home! The WiFi was super fast and reliable throughout the building, which made it easy to work remotely and stream content without any issues. I was also impressed by the facilities — there’s a spacious lounge, a fun bar area, and plenty of space to relax or socialize. The breakfast was fresh and had a great variety (especially for the price), and I appreciated how well-maintained the common areas were. For such a central location and great service, the value for money is excellent. I genuinely felt like I got more than I paid for, which is rare these days. The atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant — solo travelers, families, and groups all felt equally at home. I met some great people and had memorable conversations in the shared spaces. All in all, a&o Düsseldorf exceeded my expectations on every level. I will 100% be staying here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

The location is super central, just minutes from the main station and close to everything. The staff were always friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming vibe from check-in to check-out. My room was clean, quiet, and the bed was really comfortable. I slept great! The WiFi worked perfectly, and the common areas were modern and inviting — perfect for relaxing or meeting other travelers. For the price, the value is amazing. You get great facilities, a fresh breakfast, and a safe, social atmosphere without breaking the bank. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely stay again!

For the price paid I would highly recommend the property. The room was basic, however, it was clean. The lounge area was great and the bar served drinks at a good price. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy enough. The location was good, it was only a 10/15 minute walk to both the main train station and the old town pubs / bars.

We stayed for 3 nights and both of the elevators were broken for 2 of the days so had to carry all our luggage down the stairs from the 4th floor. The shower wasn’t very powerful, which you can accept for the price paid, however, you struggled to get running water in the shower between 9-10.30am.

1. The staff was super friendly 2. Very good location. 15 minutes walk to hauptbahnhof and 18 minutes walk to the city center. 3. Great price for what you get except for lack of minibar in the rooms

1. No fridge or minibar in the rooms 2. It was too hot in August and there wasn't a fan in every room! 3. Above all, there is no lift! If you have large heavy luggage, reconsider your booking or leave it in the luggage room.

The receptionists were incredibly helpful, respectful and kind, making the stay even more pleasant especially the welcoming Iranian receptionist. The bed, mattress, and blanket along with the entire room were spotless and well-maintained. Additionally, the location was fantastic, offering easy access to buses, trams, and various stores, including supermarkets like Lidl.

The only problem was the bathroom. despite it appeared clean, the drain was clogged time to time, which was inconvenient

It was a nice place, really quite and the people were nice. But the location for me personally was not the best.

I had to walk like 30min from the Hbf to the Hostel.

The bathroom was clean and did satisfy my usage without hassle. The room was nice, I had a twin bed and was comfy enough for 1-night stay. The person working on the reception, Leon I believe his name was, was a cool dude, communicative and was pleasant to talk with. The lobby downstairs is cool and has a nice vibe. You can buy yourself a beer, snacks etc The location is 15mins from Hauptbahnhof (main station). There is a tram that goes to Berliner-Alle which can cut the travel time. A 15min walk is fast enough, so I resorted to walking there. AO hostel is easy to find.

One bad thing is that one pillow was a bit smelly (a bad odor). Couldn't say if it's not clean or something they are using to wash the pillows gave it a bad smell. So, I had to use the other pillow and it wasn't smelly.

A&O offer a hybrid between hotels and self-catering hostels, with a business model that emulates the very best of no-frills budget airlines. We discovered the A&O chain on a visit to Copenhagen to visit family and are very taken with it. I stayed at the Dusseldorf A&O for a work trip and will stay there in future.

Young travellers having exuberant, harmless fun, but this didn’t directly impinge on my stay in any way (like it was quiet during sleep hours), and besides, I’m a grouchy old grump.

Staff was extremely friendly. They allowed me to store my luggage. Location is excellent. For the female dorms, bathroom and shower doors are right in the dorm room which is very convenient because you don’t have to exit the dorm and access them in a hallway like in other hostels.

I wasn’t informed that a female dorm is 10eur more, I just found out at reception when doing the check-in. Walls are quite thin, so you better bring ear plugs.

The guest kitchen is no good at all. Better with fixed open shelves. Should be a sign in common room depicting 'Guest Kitchen'. Part of your room escape passages and stairs should be depicted with signs ' On the Doors', you have them on the walls. One does not see them till one is very close, so as to read them. Too late! I found it difficult to exit to common area, main exit, etc; in an emergency, ha, ha! .
