One of the most spectacular city hotels I have been to. Absolute five star superior experience on every level. The location in a park by the lake in walking distance to the city center is unbeaten. The indoor/outdoor pool on the roof with terrace and bar with views over the lake and the city is unforgettable. Rooms, staff, restaurants, breakfast are impeccable. We will be back. We loved the bike rental service because its the best way around town.

I was positively surprised in every aspect. it's a well-thought-through hotel all in all. One detail I expected to be less good than in reality, was the sauna. I've seen pictures of the sauna and I wasn't impressed, which I was when I was there "in real life". You'll have a panoramic city view while in the sauna. A first for me indeed.

There's nothing I "didn't like". At one point I went for a cocktail at the bar in the evening and the staff didn't tell me in the best way, that the table I wanted to take wasn't available. All good, that moment was just a bit awkward, but forgettable after the whole experience.

The evening experience was good.your staff on reception and concierge was very helpful! The room was to our expectations with a view which is one off.

Breakfast was chaos when we arrieved. It looks like that the staff operates in to many areas,in each others! The buffet room is to small when full outside on seats poeple bumping into each other! To longer waiting time for orders of simple nature's !Breakfast is the most important meal on the day and will set you for the day. In your hotel it gives you stress which is not a good start!!

-- The staff is incredibly accommodating, helpful and friendly! -- We had booked the Deluxe Room which felt somewhat small for a week long stay. It is definitely worth it to pay extra for the view towards the Alster. -- We had the opportunity to stay for 2 nights in the Executive Suite which was super comfortable and provided an amazing experience! When we come again, we will book the Suite instead of the room. --The hotel is very serene and beautifully located along the Alster which allowed for evening strolls and a very relaxing stay. -- Everything is kept in immaculate condition! The hotel is a 'feast for the eyes'! -- The Parkview restaurant offers a business lunch option and an interesting dinner selection. -- We had booked out stay with breakfast. The buffet offered a great selection in addition to items that could be ordered from a menu as well.

-- There wasn't really anything we didn't like except it was not as 'central' as we had envisioned. To get to downtown Hamburg, we either had to take a Taxi or walk for about 30 min which in essence is fine. -- Although we had restaurants and a small grocery store right around the corner, we ended up not leaving the hotel much during our stay :)

The rainfall shower head was a wicked indulgence, nice walk-in closet, lighting and curtain controls with push of a button, and a balcony. What’s not to like. The staff is respectively friendly and makes a point to greet you personally, lovely touch. If the budget allows, make sure you visit the Lakeside restaurant on the 7th floor. A true dining experience.

Good facilities,with extra special rooms.Nearness to lake a bonus. Breakfast buffet very good selection,especially fruit and cereals.

Breakfast staff were a little unorganiesed,especially when ordering coffee. It the room you should have the possibility to turn the movement sensor under the bed off.

It gives me great pleasure to give feedback on The Fontenay. We have stayed in numerous 5 Star hotels around the world over the last many years and we have never experienced anything like The Fontenay. It is very luxurious, elegantly decorated and has a charming and very welcoming atmosphere with very attentive and professional staff. The location is fantastic right at the beautiful Alster lake. In short it was a magical experience. We shall definitely come back. Thank you all at The Fontenay for making our stay with a truly memorable experience.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, personable and welcoming. We were given an early check in, which made our silver wedding anniversary so much more of a treat! And from the roof-top spa all the way down to the ground-floor restaurant (breakfast was stunning), everything in this hotel felt impeccably organised and presented. Its lakeside location made it feel restful and natural, even within a bustling and vibrant city. We loved our stay, and would come again tomorrow! What a place, what a space.

We were a little surprised not to have a bath in the bathroom, but other than that ...

The staff was great, the cleaningnes was great, noise isolation was good.

The size of a single room is tiny. Very basic interior design both in the room and hotel itself, everythinf is just too simple for the price the hotel is charging. Size of the bathroom is very small as well. Breakfast was good but wasn't great, had to wait for quite a long time for the order to be served too. Overall, value for money is not worth it, I would say its a 4* simple hotel, which should be charging half of their price, or even third of it.

From spacious surroundings outside … to the large well designed rooms inside … amazing rooftop terraces… hands down best hotel I have visited … they bring Asia standards to europe ..
