A stunning boutique hotel.i had my stay at the fablous suite which is perfectly styled.everything is on the highest level.super clean and located a short walk from buda castle.at night time no noise from traffic.bus 16 runs to the other side of budapest..or it's nice walk to the clark hotel from.there crossing the bridge. Especially I want to mention the great employees I had contact.it s superb managed.i informed them that arrived 3 hours before check in ans they organized my suite prepared to check in. .also they allow me a late check out. In 2025 I had so far 27 different high star hotels to stay.the best 2 of them are loceted budapest.the balthazar is one of them. Will.i come back.for sure as soon as possible in august/September.

Nothing..a perfect stay

Very friendly host greeted us, both rooms were set up as doubles, when we requested one twin, one double, but htye remedied this very quickly. Hotel is in a good location next to the Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya) and Buda tower. They gave us guidance how to travel on the buses as well after we go there. The hotel is also near to other restaurants also. With the weather being so hot as well, it was good to have air conditioning in the hotel as well. We had breakfast at the hotel and the selection was very good.

Would have been useful to know that there was a direct bus from the train station to where the hotel was, so lugging heavy cases up the various steps to get there. But a minor inconvenience.

The location was very quiet and historic. The building interior was modern, warm and comfortable. I loved having a rich breakfast at the cafe outdoors every morning. I had the power breakfast option and there was plenty to choose from. Andras was exceptionally friendly and very helpful, and the other staff were equally professional and personable. The room was above and beyond. The bed was firm and cushions very comfortable. The room had light blocking curtains so you could enjoy daylight and views all around during the day and sleep well at night. There was easy elavator access though I took the stairs. There was a fridge, safe, coffeemaker and hairdryer in the room but no iron. The Bus was easily accessible and frequent but definitely get the pass because the hotel is far from the busy hustle of Pest and walking to and from it can be a bit tiring as its mostly uphill and on cobblestones. Take bus 16 from Deak Ter M. Its the same intersection where bus 100 to and from the airport stops. Its not far from the M2 metro either. In the evening I gravitated away from busy Pest so I tried 3 restaurants in the chain that Balthazar is part of, all in Buda - Balthazar, 21 and Pest-Buda and felt I got excellent service and good food. It felt like I was being taken care of, in a way, by a local. It made the choices easier for someone travelling solo. One last suggestion: abandon the comfort of your room one morning to watch the sunrise at Fisherman's Bastion. This is definitely a perk of being up on the quiet side of Buda. The streets here are always quite and feel perfectly safe. I will gladly come again.

I couldn't figure out the TV or the sound system in the room. By the time I realized this there was noone at reception (the hotel has no night staff). I think having some English language channels on offer and maybe a word or two of explanation and show-and-tell when checking in would be helpful. I tried to stream from my phone to the screen but also - all instructions were in Hungarian so it was an exercise in frustration. There was no cable or netflix on offer. With no book and no way to watch TV the evenings after 22:00 where a bit dull - but the bath was great and I slept alot.

The sign of a good hotel is when you don't want to leave.... Great location... Really quiet we had the window open every night. Rooms are gorgeous great bedding and L'occitane toiletries Breakfast is fantastic thanks to Esther for looking after us. Highlight is the front of house staff - massive thanks to Daniel and Esther for making our stay memorable and also to Bence. Highly recommended We will be back thanks so much

The only thing we could fault was insufficient towels but we asked for a couple more

Very nice rooms..Extremely comfortable beds and great shower. The staff were friendly and helpful - We had a small problem and it was dealt with with no fuss. The breakfast was very tasty. No problems with noise - the rooms were soundproofed and the outside was pretty quiet. Very clean room too.

OK so I think the breakfast time is too late for a weekday. The earliest time for breakfast is 7.30 which is a little late in my opinion. I was working from 8 and had to really rush.

large room with a huge balcony on the top floor, huge bathroom with two sinks, friendly staff. the manager even waived off the charge for alcohol we consumed from the bar. very secluded and quiet location on the Buda Castle hill and yet its only 5 mins from Fisheman's Bastion. there is a bus stop right outside the hotel and can take you to the Pest side.

while we loved the location, some people may not like it as its very quiet and away from restaurants/clubs of Pest side. you will have to go across the river to the other side for more lively scene. this is very much a personal choice.

The breakfasts are great. The staff is friendly. The location is perfect: far from the big city, with a mesmerising view and close to beautiful hill.

The room was very specious and nicely decorated, plus we had a bathtub! However some small things here and there can be improved. For instance, the lights were a bit weird, only 4 modes for all light bulbs in the entire suit. The heated towel rack wasn't working. There were no tea bags offered, while the kettle was there. It's all very tiny things, so 9 out of 10.

What we liked most in this hotel is a staff on hotel reception. Always welcoming you and trying to help each day. And because hotel is very small, they know all the guests. Cleaning was very good, it doesn’t matter which time you are leaving your room, when you will be back, the room is cleaned. For us it looks like they waiting till you left the room and then immediately start cleaning it. Location is very nice also

What can be better is water pressure in the shower. And if you use shower for some time pressure is even lower. Also level of service during breakfast is not very consistent. Some staff is very good and professional, some not very interested in you and you can wait for a long time to order more.

Great little family run hotel in a quiet part of Buda up behind the Fisherman’s Bastion and handy for the 16 bus into Pest. Excellent staff, who are polite, keen to serve and speak English well. Great breakfast that sets you up for the day and a good choice of meals for lunch & dinner too.

The bar is closed by 10pm so if you’re seeking a late night you’ll either have to stay down in Pest or pop around to the one in the Hilton hotel and which is open to non-residents.

It was an enchanting boutique hotel away from the tourist crowd. We loved it!! The Baltazar Team, Ben, Daniel, Peter, Lucy and their colleagues, were outstanding in every way making our stay magical! The food was fabulous - Michelin star quality - the service impeccable! The hotel is within walking distance of all the Castle District attractions. Budapest was the highlight of our visit to six European capitols. Our thanks and gratitude to the all the Baltazar Team.
