We had a wonderful experience staying at the 4-star Novotel Budapest City. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very collaborative — they made our family feel right at home. While the room was a little smaller than we expected, it was clean, quiet, and cozy, which made all the difference. The hotel has a peaceful atmosphere and is well-maintained throughout. We really appreciated the cleanliness and the friendly service, which added a personal touch to our stay. It’s a great choice for families looking for comfort and convenience in Budapest. We had a very comfortable stay at the hotel, especially with children. After busy mornings exploring the city, my kids really enjoyed relaxing in the swimming pool. The hotel is well located on the Buda side, offering beautiful views of the city. Many attractions on this side are within walking distance—about 20 minutes away. The hotel was clean and well-maintained, with efficient air conditioning. Our room was spacious and perfectly suited for a family with children. The staff were consistently kind and friendly throughout our stay. We’d like to give special thanks to MATYAS, who was exceptionally helpful and attentive. He was incredibly kind and understanding of our children's needs, which made a big difference in our experience. Team members like him truly elevate the level of service and give you a reason to come back. The hotel is also surrounded by a lovely park, and there’s a large shopping center just a 5-minute walk away for snacks and essentials. Breakfast was also very good. All in all, a great family-friendly hotel that we would happily return to.

On the positive side, the value for money was good. The breakfast was truly excellent, and we absolutely loved their coffee.

Overall, the hotel was nice, but many things felt outdated. For example, many of the machines in the fitness room were very worn out. In addition, one of the underwater lights in the hotel pool was broken, and an electrical socket was left exposed. This seemed very dangerous to me. Issues like these made me feel that the hotel is showing signs of wear and age. It seems like it could really use some thorough maintenance.

First of all: the staff. All people at the reception or the bar/resto were super polite, helpful and accommodating. Kudos to all of them, esp. Noemi at the bar and a nice young person who found my eye glasses. Otherwise, the hotel is spacious and offers various facilities. Breakfast was nice too (just avoid rush hours). Clean and spacious room. Water coolers on each floor and section. It is out of the touristic zone, but it was perfect for a big celebration that I attended.

The breakfast was rich and diverse, offering a wide selection of fresh fruits and delicious options, including Hungarian specialties, Japanese dishes, and Spanish-influenced cuisine. The hotel provides parking for an additional cost, which is convenient for those traveling by car. The on-site restaurant offers a decent menu for dinner, making it easy to enjoy a meal without leaving the hotel. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, featuring a coffee machine and the option to prepare tea—an excellent touch for added comfort. Overall, a great choice for a pleasant stay with good amenities and quality service.

The room was very warm, and unfortunately, the window could only be opened in a tilt position, which didn’t allow for proper ventilation. Since it was winter, the heating could only be adjusted centrally and not individually in the room, making it impossible to regulate the temperature to my comfort. This was quite inconvenient, as I would have preferred more control over the room climate.

Breakfast was good, but for such a big hotel a bit limited - in variety of food but also in space itself. Our room - family room - not big enough for a family of 4... Small room to be comfortable. But we stayed only 2 nights, so we got over it. Problem was with wet swimsuit - nowhere to hang it to dry. Also no place for hanging more towels. I also cant imagine coming to this hotel in winter - not enough place where to put all clothes if we were 4 people... Overall we were satisfied. Staff was friendly and helpful!

Breakfast was good, but not excessive. The food was the same every day, the quality of coffee from the coffeemachines in de breakfast area is way sub par. The juices are watered down from sirup, but are "ok". The pancakes with Nutella for children are mainly eaten by adults. Haven't seen/heard a lot of children. A Bolt-taxi will take you to the center of Pest, the parliament or the Buda castle in under 30 minutes. Next to the hotel is a small mall, with a grocery store, some nice restaurants and luxury shops.

During our stay, a lot of Indian people visited the hotel for a conference and tours. These people came in with multiple busses around dinner time and left in the morning. It was near impossible to get into an elevator at those times. Maybe next time, staff of the hotel can allocate 1 or 2 dedicated elevators for these groups?

The hotel is nice, although it has an older style. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. If you have any questions or special requests, they will assist you promptly. The rooms are clean, but they may be a bit small for four people.

The rooms are too small for four people (in our case, 2 adults and 2 kids). For two, it is ok. Additionally, the bathroom equipment is quite old; some renovation would be necessary. However, they are still functioning properly.

The Novotel Budapest City Hotel has a very good location - close to the Buda Castle (Budavari Palota) with very good bus and tram connections to the old town - Danube cruises - Jewish Quarter - Saint Istvan basilica - and other tourist attractions. Breakfast was above the standard. The Staff at the hotel were amazing - very kind and helpfull - professionals with attitude and smile - good job. The Novotel Budapest City is definitely very good choice for families with kids - they have little swimming pool, sauna, playroom and fitness center. Hotel has own parking (15 Euro/day) - great price. All in all - great value for the price.
