We loved staying here! The check-in process was simple and smooth. The location is convenient—right next to Route 1—making it easy to get around. We really liked the shared dining area, where we could heat up our food and make tea and coffee (free). The room was clean and comfortable, with a private bathroom. We didn't meet staff in the reception, we only met one staff member - lovely woman, who was preparing breakfast for guests who ordered it.

We stayed at multiple accommodations during our trip, and this was one of the most expensive. In our opinion, the value didn’t quite match the price—we expected a bit more for what we paid. There was no TV (disappointment for kid:), and room was very basic. But overall, we enjoyed our stay.

What an excellent stay right off route no 1!!! The rooms at Seljavellir guesthouse are new, modern and very clean. The views from the rooms are stunning. And the best part is the glass door and wall which allows one to look out at the stunning views but offers no view of the room from the outside. So u can keep the curtains open in summer or winter and gaze up at the gorgeous skies at night. There is a common dining hall where tea, coffee is available all round the clock and microwave, toaster for you to cook your meals if needed. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this guesthouse 100%.

New and tasteful furnishings. Very comfortable beds. Breakfast had a very limited selection. But it was good.

Unfortunately, there is no trash can in the rooms, you only have to use the mini one in the bathroom. What we missed was the refrigerator in the rooms. Luckily we traveled in the cold season, so we left the food in the car overnight. On warm days you have to use the shared small refrigerator in the kitchen, which was full even for us. What we really missed was heating, or anything to dry wet clothes. The design of the rooms is beautiful, but this is really unfinished. We literally had wet things lying all over the floor, on tables, chairs, .. This is a real shame

Great size room, location is great, quiet, Mountain View was stunning to wake up to. They’ve put some one-way mirror type stickers on the glass to try and prevent people passing by to their rooms from being able to look in - mostly works except at night when there’s a light on inside, but at that point we closed the curtains anyway so didn’t affect us, and this wasn’t there on previous visits so definitely tried to make this more private. The hostess was absolutely lovely - couldn’t do more for us. Brought us a sharper knife and cutting board as we were preparing food without being asked and gave us a kettle to make a flask of tea for the day, too.

Struggled to work out how to close the door if we were leaving. Can close it from the inside but not the outside so ended up sticking arm through the window to do it then closing the window. Perhaps some instructions on this would be good as it wasn’t completely clear.

This place far exceeded our expectations. You enter your room directly from the outside so you never bother neighbours. The exterior wall is mostly glass with beautiful views. The room is very comfortable and the beds had to be the best in the trip, even the floor was comfortable! The bathroom was large and had everything. We didn't miss a thing! And the shared spaces are marvelous too, the dining room is very pleasant and well equipped, you have a kettle, coffee machine, toaster and microwave as well as dishes and cutlery. The woman who prepares breakfast (she arrived as we left) was very helpful and agreeable too. I only wish our stay had been longer!

Nothing!

Liked everything here! Quite straightforward... parking at the end of the complex... then you have your rooms in a motel style layout. Nice, clean rooms, good temperature, nice bathroom. Full- sized glass front with mirrored windows. When having a light turned on inside, everyone can look through from outside, but you can't see from inside. When lights are off inside, it's the other way around, you can see the external, but no one can look inside. (curtains are there too). Very low light pollution here, probably an excellent location for aurora hunting when high KP index. Utensils, crockery / cutlery can be used outside of breakfast times. Free T/C/hot water. Keypad entry to the rooms - took me like 2 minutes to figure out in the dark, as the keypad is in "sleep mode" - full dark, until you touch it. :-)

We had a wonderful stay in these lovely rooms! The location was perfect—not only for exploring but also it was the ideal spot to watch the Northern Lights, and we were lucky enough to see them right from our windows. The rooms were warm, cozy, and beautifully set up—just what you need for a comfortable stop while doing the Ring Road. Our host was very thoughtful and made sure everything was perfect for us. A special mention to the sweet lady at breakfast—she was so kind and took great care of us! We highly recommend this place and would love to stay here again! 😊✨🏡

Check in process was very easy; room and facilities were excellent, comfortable, clean, and modern. The location was also perfect, just a bit outside Hofn, and very accessible to all nearby attractions. Lastly, the kitchen facilities (plates, microwave, coffee machine) are quite functional.

Only minor points of improvement - a mini fridge in the rooms would be ideal. As it was very cold, we were able to keep food cold in the car, but this is not very comfy. Lastly, we would suggest having a way to turn off the lights outside of the rooms - this would be optimal for northern lights spotting, as the guesthouse is very well located with lights displays very visible. However, the ourdoor lights of the room make it difficult.

My husband and I had a very comfortable 2 nights stay at this guesthouse. The location was convenient right off the 1. It is far enough away from light pollution so we had a great viewing of the aurora borealis on our 1st night. It was also just an 8 min drive into the tiny town of Hofn for lunch and dinner. The woman who I believe was the owner was incredibly accommodating and went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable during our two nights stay. There was some negative reviews that made me nervous prior to our stay but I don’t understand the complaints because what you see in the pictures is exactly what you get as advertised. This is by no means the “four seasons resort” but for cleanliness, a warm bed, location and staff I give this guesthouse 10/10 and would recommend for anybody passing through.
