Trust all the other reviews - this place is a true gem. Lovely staff, super cosy vibe and location couldn't be better as a base for exploring Reykjavik or indeed the neighbouring areas! We especially loved the deal they had with an amazing bakery around the corner, where Freyja guests received a discount. It meant we could take a slow morning with our buns, the free smoothie and coffee in the kitchen. Also the mattress is probably the comfiest I have ever slept on - have been looking to buy it for home! Overall this guest house is one of the best deals in the city!

Loveliest guest house run by a very sweet family. Great facilities & excelent service. Good quality bed, nice decorated room, all you need in a kitchen, free nespresso, smart tv, warm clean bathroom, with luxury (L’occitane) bathroom supplies. Everything was organized and very clean. You feel special noticing how the owners have so much attention to detail. They even offer guests free smoothies. The location is super central, close to a tourist bus stop, but in a calm street. Ah, and there’s such a nice lounge and rooftop! I highly recommend this place :-)

I missed a connecting flight and didn't get in to Reykjavik until after midnight. Ingo, the host, was really responsive with communication and gave me a free rroom upgrade. He offered to be contacted even in the wee hours of the morning if I had trouble with the self-check in. This was very reassuring in what was a stressful situation. The bed and the pillows were really comfortable and I could recharge devices. There was a complementary mango smoothie in the kitchen as well which was lovely. While my stay was very short due to flight delay and tour at 8:30 the next morning, it was also close to the rainbow road and looked out at the Lutheran Icelandic church. Great central location for walking.

The location was fantastic walking distance from everything in the city. Loved hearing the bells from the church. We stayed in the suite since I wanted a private bathroom. The other rooms share bathrooms with the other people on the floor but I didn't want to take the chance. We are people who tend to have more stomach issues. The suite was comfortable, it had all that you needed. The staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend for a quick stay in the city.

Parking can be tricky if you do not get there at the perfect time finding a spot is troublesome. The bed and pillows in my opinion were very uncomfortable. I know everyone has different preferences. The one thing that we were not a fan of was the water. We have experienced this in only one other hotel in Iceland and that is the extreme sulfur smell that comes from the water. I'm sure this is a common thing due to the high sulfur in the water from the volcanos but it is difficult to feel clean after.

Staff was so nice and the facilities were great to have and use! Smoothies were a nice add. The rooms were perfect temperature and bathrooms at every floor were great and I didn’t have to wait to use. Viewing lounge on top floor was best add to have a second place to spend time. Great location within walking distance of food and shops and pick up stops for tours! Would stay again! Breakfast next door was very yummy and baristas were nice

Bathroom cleanliness gets worse throughout the day, as expected after more people use. Would do morning baths to avoid. Free parking can be unclear if you’re new to the city and might require a few rounds. Overall easy to find!

Great stay, really comfortable rooms, fantastic location. Rooms perfectly warm and cosy with thermostat controlled radiator. Kitchen brilliantly resourced, everything you could need. A kitchen and a bathroom on each of the two floors plus another of each on the third floor where there's a communal lounge. Kind, helpful owners who looked after our luggage after checkout as well as letting us take our towels swimming the same afternoon. Easy to use key box for check in if arriving after 6pm.

There are 5 rooms on each floor all close together around shared kitchen and bathroom so could have potentially been busy or noisy, however this was not the case. Never had to wait for bathroom or kitchen and could have used one on another floor if needed.

great location! wonderful bed. the mango smoothies and chocolate lemon cake were delicious. i was a bit concerned about the shared bathroom facilities, but they worked fine with three bathrooms for ten rooms. everyone was very conscientious about leaving the shared space clean. parking on the street was not an issue.

the room was a bit warm with the heat of the sun, but we opened our door and got the cross breeze from the kitchen which helped. a fan would have been perfect (i didn't ask if there was one available).

We had a WONDERFUL stay here! We had a chance to talk to the owners and we really enjoyed their friendliness. Our room was spotless and the kitchen had everything we needed. Next summer we hope to stay at their place again!0

What a quaint guesthouse. We stayed in room 103 on the first floor with a queen bed, which was very comfortable. The WC was right next to our room. The kitchen was 2 rooms down the hall. In the kitchen, you will find a smoothie assigned to your room every morning. They offer cake as a snack. This guesthouse consists of 3 floors, with the 3rd floor being set up as a game room/observatory room that has 4 windows that open upward. They offer snacks, coffee, and tea on an honor system in this room. Their staff was super helpful. Quick check in very quickly. They held our luggage while we explored the city. My luggage was delayed; they offered to be on the lookout for it and place it in our room while we were on our tour. Our room was very clean. I twisted my ankle on an excursion. We contacted the office in the morning about how to go about getting medical help. Again, they held our luggage while the owner himself gave me a ride to the nearest hospital. This guesthouse is located very close to Bus Stop 8, which is one of the Bus Stops for the Flybus that can bring you from the airport to the hotel. It is also very close to downtown Reykjavik. There you can find many restaurants, bars and shops. Freyja is a guesthouse, not a hotel. You will share a bathroom with other guests on the same floor. The 2nd floor has its own bathroom. We were very contend and happy with our stay at Freyja and when we can return to Reykjavik, Iceland Freyja will be our home away from home.

Comfy, clean . My home-away-from twice. I’ll book another stay again on next trip US-Europe. Owners are the managers and care about the details -such as the homemade fruit smoothies in the fridge. Unbeatable location in a real neighborhood on lovey tree-lined street — historic melodious bells peal softly - grand iconic cathedral is steps away from guesthouse’s backyard and the illumination of the stained glass is unforgettable. Short stroll to best shopping street with authentic handmade pottery, hand knit Icelandic hats, gloves, sweaters created to last a lifetime or more. Fabulous jewelry! Bookstore with Icelandic authors photographers & excellent coffee. Love the whole thing!
