Fantastic location- walk everywhere to restaurants, bars, sights. Less than 5 min walk to Bus Stop #9 - Snorrabraut. The buffet breakfast was delicious with lots of options to please everyone. Good size very comfortable quiet rooms with bathroom that has shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap in shower and hair dryer. I used the well equipped gym several times, where you'll also find the sauna and jacuzzi (outside). The staff is all smiling, attentive and very kind. I'll highly recommend this little gem to all and certainly stay when I return.

The lighting in the bedroom and bathroom could be a bit brighter, but this does not change my rating of a 10.

The setting of the hotel is gorgeous and the rooms, albeit small, are practical and homely. They can get really warm so all good when coming in from the cold! There's free Icelandic water to fill bottles up with too which was a nice touch; and they also give you a complimentary mobile phone to use during your stay. The reception staff were super helpful and the gym and hot tub is a nice perk - though the hot tub area definitely needs some more lighting! The hotel and rooms are super clean and stocked with nice toiletries so you don't have to bring any if you're travelling light. Also p.s. Apple Maps took us off on a side street but this is on the main street in Reykjavik so just keep walking up and it's to the right :) you can't miss it! It's super close to bus stop #9 for any excursions. It's within good walking distance to a lot of things too.

I wouldn't recommend breakfast, it was about £23 for a basic buffet. Not very good value for money! You're better off grabbing coffee in your room, there's a Nespresso type machine in there.

I liked the rooms as they had desks, two beds, windows that could open, a storage bench, and nice bathroom. Great pricepoint and perfect location. Go to Bus Stop #9 (Snorabraut) for tours and turn left outside of property to walk the city. Hotel is good starting point. Close to burger fast food, convenience store, and grocery store. Liked the gym and hot tub. Breakfast was amazing and sounds expensive at about $30 per, but is unfortunately the same price point as anything else... and this way you get buffet style (could only upload 4 photos, the breakfast is twice as large as I was able to post). Staff helped us download transit app to plan what bus to take a couple times. Very clean facilities.

No fridge (or microwave). We had a king room so a fridge would have been nice. We hung a bag with our sandwiches out of the window as it was fridge temperatures outside, so it worked out. Bathroom door doesn't shut like a true door does as it is barn door style.

Alda Hotel is perfectly located along a charming shopping street in Reykjavik. Our room was incredibly spacious with a cute little balcony that made the space feel even more special. The bathroom was large and spotless, and one of my favorite features was the clever entryway setup — it had a bench where I could comfortably sit to put on my shoes or organize my luggage, plus plenty of shelves above and below for storage. A clothes rack right next to it made unpacking so much easier. The bed was super comfortable and gave us the best night’s sleep. But what truly made this stay memorable was the front desk team — they welcomed us with such bright, genuine smiles. After days of encountering mostly reserved or slightly grumpy locals, their warmth was a heartwarming surprise. It was the perfect final touch to our Iceland adventure. 💫

We absolutely loved our stay at Alda Hotel! We didn't have any issues. The location was perfect, right on the main shopping street so we were close to lots of food options. The room was a great size, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was so friendly! Would definitely stay here again.

The only thing I could think of was that it was warm in the room for us. We visited in March and we kept the window open and the heat down the entire time. But that may just be us Americans used to having the ac on 24/7. Once we figured out the heat and window, we were fine!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Alda Hotel in Reykjavik, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming, making check-in a breeze. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with a modern yet cozy feel that immediately made me feel at home. My room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had all the amenities I could possibly need, including a comfortable bed and a stunning view of the city. The location is perfect—right in the heart of Reykjavik, just a short walk to local shops, cafes, and attractions like the Hallgrímskirkja Church and the Harpa Concert Hall. It’s the ideal spot to explore the city, yet the hotel remains a peaceful retreat at the end of the day. Overall, I can’t recommend the Alda Hotel enough. It’s the perfect balance of comfort, style, and convenience. If you’re visiting Reykjavik, this is the place to stay!

Great location, near bus stop for all tours/airport bus and close walk to town. Lots of cafes/restaurants/gift stores nearby. Being able to check in a bit early after a long journey was a massive plus. Room was a good size and had everything we needed, hairdryer, coffee machine, toiletries etc. Staff always available/visible if need any help.

Room was a bit dark, could do with more/stronger lighting. Especially as we went in winter with limited hours of daylight. Bed wasn't that comfy, was quite bouncy and could feel some springs. Could be more options at breakfast, especially hot options.

Location was very good, central to dining shopping, landmarks. Room was basic but clean. We walked to our dinners and took a walk to the harbor too. Breakfast was not complimentary but I felt it was worth money paid. Lots of variety, fresh and the 2 ladies working the breakfast room were so welcoming and hospitable.

I interacted with 4 different front desk staff and all were uniformly had lukewarm attitude. A friendly welcome and willingness to provide information about the hotel and the area is not too much to expect? Alda is rated as a 4 star hotel but staff is not up to par. Room could use bit more lighting. At night it was dim even with all lights on.

Perfect location, it's in the center of Reykjavik, close to the bus stop where you can get picked up for trips but the main bus station is in the walking distance. Our room and bathroom were on a smaller side but were clean, warm and the bed was very comfortable. The main area of the hotel is very pleasant. The stuff was very kind always happy to help and answer our questions. The restaurant at the hotel is very good.

Breakfast was poor and overpriced. After 3 days we discovered that there are a lot of coffee shops and bakeries very close to the hotel where you can have cheaper and much better breakfast.

The location was brilliant, the hotel is right in the heart of the city. There was a great restaurant/bar within the hotel which served great food. It was perfect if coming back late from an excursion as it's open till 10pm. Rooms were a decent size, bit small however we were always expecting this from other hotel reviews. Rooms were clean, well maintained and hotel staff came around every day to top up coffee or fresh towels. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. My parents room flooded on the first night due to the shower being blocked, when I went to reception they sent a cleaner immediately and also changed their room and provided them with an upgrade. They also sorted a taxi to go back to the airport for a family of 6.

Honestly there was not much not to like. Hotel is expensive but so is Iceland.
