we suddenly had to find a place to stay within 30 minutes. after browsing on booking.com we found alfred apartment and immediately booked it without looking again. when we arrived and entered the apartment, we were surprised that the room was very, very beyond our expectations. who expected just a place to stay so far turned out to feel very much at home in our country. clean, tidy and warm room. kitchen with complete equipment. clean bathroom with hot water. wardrobe and dining table complete like home. and the unforgettable, the host MR. ARTHUR who was very friendly in welcoming and helping us during our stay there. thank you friends for our togetherness during our time in Reykjavik. if we go back there we will definitely stay again at Alfred Apartment.

Location excellent. Comfortable bed. Well-equipped with everything needed - pots, pans, cutlery etc. Shower lovely when worked out how not to get water everywhere as wet room shower rather than with a tray! Very warm - too warm at times so kept window open at night.

Too small and felt a little claustrophobic. Would have liked a sofa area - shown in the pictures when booking, but was given a smaller room - kitchen/dining table/bed all in one space. Washing machine/dryer on adjoining wall so was very noisy on spins and were on quite early in the morning sometimes. Thin floors so could hear people in apartment walking about - sounded like they were trying to get their daily steps in at times!! Hairdryer - for information - the nozzle doesn’t fit as looks like hairdryer been dropped or melted in one place. Useful to take own if you need directed heat.

The location and the staff are amazing. The room was very big and for two people was excellent.

The only thing we didn’t like that much was that the room had windows to the street and you could hear people passing by and talking.

We enjoyed our 2 week stay in June. The location is excellent, quiet but only half a block from a main street and Bonus grocery store. We would choose to stay here again! Thank you to our host for his always useful help! Thank you for our main floor room, with our family members just upstairs.Our son especially appreciated the laundry facilities after he and our granddaughter got soaking wet at Seljalandsfoss

The room and kitchen area was fairly small but workable for all our baggage.

The host was really friendly. He came down the stairs and said hello to us explaining why his accomodation is good for tourists. Location is the best. The room is spacious with kitchen.

There was a night stand right next to the bed. Since it was so close to the bed, my wife was accidently hit by the corner of it when she woke up with turning her body position at night. The bath room was quite small. And subtle smell(Both we guess it might be from some detergents or sth) was full of building but we don't know what it is exactly. In a nutshell, it worths.

The host was very kind and we really appreciated being let into the room early after an early flight. The room had all the facilities we needed to sleep and cook. The location of the property is fantastic, and I would recommend the coffee shop across the road. Reykjavik chips is handy too for a quick feed. The laundry facilities were very useful and washing powder was provided. The host kindly showed me exactly how to use the washer and dryer. We didn’t hear other guests in the building at all.

My only complaints would be that the bed was 2 single beds and we pushed them together ourselves but they slid apart and the mattresses often moved slightly off the bed. The shower dripped too, being quite close to the bathroom we could hear it. We didn’t tell the host while we were there though so I’m sure this would be an easy fix.

Very central. We are in our 70’s and found we could walk to everything quite easily. We arrived after midnight so wanted no hassles getting into the accommodation. Entry was the easiest and least complicated we’ve encountered. Workable kitchen that met our needs - essential in Iceland as food eating out is expensive so cooking a few meals is a bonus. The manager in on site if you encounter a problem - but we had none. He was very help ful in explaining the best settings to use on the communal washing machine and dryer, best place to food shop, closest bus stop, etc.

It is a little noisy, you can hear footsteps above and there is some street noise. (We were at street level.) But this a minor inconvenience given all the positives this accommodation has to offer.

Great location, 5 min walk from the church, shops a 2 min walk away, polite friendly host, self check in. Cooking equipment including kettle, hob, and microwave. No key needed for room, just a code, which I liked. 15 min walk to bus terminal.

Didn’t have shower gel or shampoo, only hand soap. The heating was too hot and there was no way for us to control the temp in the room. Small room but had everything we needed.

Descriptions and information matched the unit accurately. Checkin and directions given were positive and accurate. The room was clean, had all we needed to make our 2 night stay very comfortable. Staff we met were friendly and had plenty of local information available to make it easy. Walking access within the area was very easy and it was easy to drive in and out of the cirt from here. This unit is accurately described regarding size, amenities and space.

Alfred's Apartments is located just off the main shopping street, yet it was a surprisingly quiet place to stay. It was clean and comfortable, larger than a hotel room but not quite a studio suite. The kitchenette had everything we needed to prepare our own simple meals. There's a well-stocked grocery store right around the corner. It's within easy walking distance of the heart of the city and only a 20-minute walk from the bus terminal serving the airport. The building is a century-old, modernized Icelandic house of the old style, so it has character. It's a good pick for somebody who's familiar with Reykjavík and able to make their way around on their own.

The kitchen table and chairs weren't the most comfortable, but then again, we weren't there to sit around the table all day. The on-street parking in this neighbourhood is limited, so be prepared to circle around to find a spot and expect to walk a block or two from your car.
