Really lovely staff and perfect location. I received answers to any questions really quickly using the messaging system here. The room itself was very clean, though the bathroom could use a bit more of a scrub. Perhaps that's just the nature of shared bathrooms, though! Perhaps that's just the nature of shared bathrooms, though!
After drinking trap water elsewhere without challenge we did find the tap water from the shared kitchen too much on the geothermal taste. As several others mentioned in reviews the water from the breakfast area tap was just fine -- I don't know why there is a difference, but there definitely is. On warm days it was hard to cool the room down, even for sleeping. A fan would have been good.

Excellent location just beside the Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavik. We were in the other property across the road so had a shared bathroom and pantry area. Breakfast was self service in the conservatory with a good selection of cereals, fresh bread and wonderful marmalade which tasted like homemade.
Too warm at times and noisy. The radiator pipes clicked through the night, we could hear people talking in the next room and traffic passing by. Electrical safety! One of the sockets beside the sink was off the wall and there were three sockets in the bathroom.

The place has an excellent location, just around the corner from Hallgrímskirkja and practically 5 minutes from Rainbow Street. Check-in was fast, the room had a little balcony from where we could see the ocean. The room and the bathroom were both really clean. While the bathroom was shared, we had no issues with needing to wait long. The breakfast was good and diverse, a nice way to start the day. We found parking in front of the house. As we get there Friday afternoon, we only need to pay for one hour. It was a good stay and good value for money.
The stairs in the main house are a bit steep and narrow - with a large amount of luggage, it is a bit hard to get up the last floor. For us, it was not such a big issue, but for those with mobility issues (even a simple back pain) might be uncomfortable, so keep that in mind. Personally, the thing that was a minus for me was the sign signalling the emergency evacuation route. The room was quite small, and above the balcony door, we had a pretty big, electric light that made more light than what would be coming from the outside. I understand the need for signalling, it was just about the size of it. This, however, is not an issue if you use a sleeping mask.

The beds were incredibly comfortable. Loved having a sink in our room. The guesthouse was relatively quiet, too. We could hardly tell that it was a full house! The location was great, right in the city center. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Prior to coming to the guesthouse, the staff were incredibly communicative / responsive to email.
There wasn't anything that my group outright disliked. Check-in was a little confusing at first when we arrived, as we did arrive at an earlier time, which conflicted with others as they were checking out. There also isn't a true reception desk which confused us a bit. But once we found a staff member and were checked in, staying at the guesthouse was straightforward and painless.

Guesthouse Aurora is within walking distance of Bus Station #8 at the iconic church so the location is wonderful. You can easily walk to Downtown Reykjavik. Quiet neighborhood, outstanding baked goods at breakfast. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were very clean.Wifi worked Well.
The price sticker shock in Iceland is for real and paying quite a sum.for a shared bath room is annoying, but you do it once if you have to. The staff is busy for niceties or to simply be nice, but another thing you can easily get over. They do luggage storage for one day if needed.

We had an issue with our dates on booking.com, but once we were there the staff at Guesthouse Aurora were very helpful in resolving the issue! 10/10! The breakfast at the Guesthouse was also very nice. It was a continental buffet spread with nice fresh bread and toppings. The location near the church was great because it was convenient to walk to everything in downtown Reykjavik, but far enough from the city center that it was easy to find free parking, and it was quiet at night for sleeping with the windows open.
Just keep in mind that it is a Guesthouse with shared bathrooms, the rooms are basic, you might hear a little noise from your neighbors. Not really a bad thing, it was a great value and perfect for what we were looking for, but go in with the right expectation.

I had a fantastic experience at Guesthouse Aurora. The location is perfect — close to the city center but still in a quiet and peaceful area. The room was clean, cozy, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with tips or directions. Everything was super easy and well-organized. I felt very welcome and at home here. I highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Reykjavík — I would definitely stay again!
N/A - The experience was fantastic!

Straight in the middle to reach every point of interest at foot. Hallgrimskirkja is only a five minute walk away. I had a double room just in front of the street. That was a little bit noisy but the room was cosy and modern. There´s a small kitchen and the bathroom ist clean and comfortable. Nothing to complain. I felt very well at this location. Surprisingly at that point of booking my accomodation I found the sculputures of Einar Jónsson nearby this location and I dearly recomment you to visit this sculpture garden.

Very clean and comfortable and more than I was expecting in terms of room size and breakfast offerings, given the I expensive price. Excellent location for eating, shopping the central downtown area, and so convenient for the guided tour companies that pick up at Stop 8, which is in nearby landmark church parking lot. 15 minutes to a public pool/hot baths.
The room locks and main door lock at my building are noisier than typical. People lock their door when going to shared bathroom, so you might hear that a lot early or late at night. The staff you see at breakfast (maybe one person), does a good job at getting what needs to be done, done, but they don’t know answers questions that a receptionist would -ie, where is that commonly used nearby bus stop 8; how do you pay for public bus (an app).

Location is great, within 10-15 minute's walk of most of the areas of interest, almost all within a 30 minute walk. I was pleased to smell coffee our first morning; I didn't realize they had a Continental breakfast every day. It's simple; bread, cheeses, deli meat, some veggies, hard eggs. Our room was small and basic, but clean with a comfortable bed. Our room had a small sink, which is a plus given the shared bathroom. I really appreciated that the staff helped to favorably resolve a reservation/cancellation issue that b--king.com was no help with.
Hard boiling the eggs with about 50cc of salt per liter of water will make them easier to peel! ;-) We were without water one morning, so we went to breakfast and all was well afterwards.
